Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2003 - Locking Hubs When Trying To Engage To Shift Into 4 Wheel Drive

I recently purchased a 2003 F350 FX4 Dually with the 7.3L Diesel. It has locking hubs and electric shift in the cab.

I have had locking hubs before that you had to engage to shift into 4 wheel drive and I have had trucks without locking hubs.

My truck didn't come with a manual, so I am looking for instructions for the proper use of this system.

S-10 :: 2003 4 Wheel Drive With Automatic Transmission - Front Axle Will Not Engage

Its a automatic transmission with a v6 4.3 vortec. The front axle will not engage, it is not the acuator (I replaced it and the cable) you can pull the cable and the axle will engage. There is a low buzzing noise(coming from the drivers side) until you give it gas. This noise stops when the front axle is engaged. The transfer case will go from hi to low without any problems.

Ford - Explorer :: 1997 - Trans Won't Engage While In Drive - Reverse Lost?

I got myself a 1997 explorer Australian model when I got it (here's the problem) if you put it in drive it will not engage but if put in first will drive normal then shift into second all good now u have push O.D then shift into drive all good (unless u slow down to almost a stop) ? New problem is, it has gone and lost reverse, put it in reverse and it engages with a small clank (normal) but just slips with any revs. I have read posts here talking about upper and lower valve body gaskets and transgo shiftkit which I have ordered but do there maybe more parts needed? Cause it's going to cost me lot just to put transmission fluid back in.

Toyota - Tundra :: 2003 - Brakes Taking More Push To Engage

I have a 2003 Toyota Tundra with about 57,000 miles and noticed that it takes more "push" to get the brakes to engage. (The brake pedal has to travel further towards the floor) There is no squealing or any other sounds and the brake fluid tank is almost full, I have not added any brake fluid or had any brake work done since I bought the truck in the fall of 2008. I am wondering what the problem could be and the possible cost involved to get it fixed. Brake Pads Wearing? Air Bubble? I'm not sure. This has been ongoing for about 3 weeks, but it doesn't seem to be getting any worse.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2015 - How To Engage 4 Wheel Drive Correctly

I have just switched from GM to Ford and have a new F250 4x4 XLT. I am wondering how to engage 4 wheel drive correctly. I have the manual shifter and the manual lock hubs. However during my test drive I shifted the lever into 4H and 4L and it seemed to engage just fine. Do I need to lock my hubs as well? Or if im just in a wet spot can i just shift into 4h without locking my hubs? I know if I am in anything serious I need to lock the hubs. I just want to be sure before I get into a tricky situation. My 02 GM all i had to do was push a button and it shifted automatically.

S-10 :: 2001 4 Wheel Drive Won't Engage

I have an 01 s10 with the 3 switch 4x4. When I switch into 4hi I hear the click at the dash and I hear the switch on the transfer case but it doesn't engage in 4x4. The lights o. The dash act normal and says its in 4 wheel. I've had problems with the switch on the front of the transfer case in the past and was able to clean it and it was OK for awhile and now nothing. I replaced that switch and hear it working but still not engaging. I did notice a bad vac line on the firewall but not sure where it goes yet. Is there an order I should be checking components? What should I look for next? Also should mention in 2hi I get a whining noise like a shaft is spinning but when in 4hi the noise goes away and it drives like its in 2hi.

Ford - Explorer :: 2004 4.0 - 4x4 Will Not Move In 2 Wheel Drive Or 4Hi

My problem is that my explorer, 130,000 miles will not engage in any gear while in 2 wheel drive or 4H. Truck will only engage in 4L. And when it does engage in 4L it hesitates and jumps into gear, especially drive. Also takes some doing to get it out of 4L. While truck is in 2 wheel and in drive, my speedometer reads about 20 mph with truck not moving. It does not do it in reverse. Also gears will grind when I attempt to put vehicle back in park because of it registering that I'm doing 20. Dropped pan and changed tranny fluid and filter. No change. Also not hearing transfer case engaging while I shift between auto, 4H and 4L. Really need this truck fixed ASAP, and need to do repairs myself.

Ford - Explorer :: 4x4 - In 4 Wheel Drive High Loud Clunking Noise Constantly?

Alright so a friend of mine has a Ford Explore with the little switch on the dash for auto 4 wheel, high 4 wheel, and low 4 wheel. When it is in Auto it has no issues drives fine and good. As soon as you turn it to 4 wheels high and start to go all you get is a loud clunking noise constantly. Another friend had a similair issue with an AWD explorer that we just pulled the front drive shaft and it seemed to solve the issue. How would I test the driveshaft to see if that's the issue.

Ford - Explorer :: 2002 V6 2 Wheel Drive Will Just Shut Off / Engine Shudders And RPMs Drop

I think it's possessed! My sisters vehicle, a 2002 Explorer with a 4.0 V-6, automatic, 2 wheel drive will just shut off. At first it acted like it would vapor lock. But it would start right away. then the a while later, (several months), it got where it would drop rpms and the engine shudders, sometimes not dying.

When this first started, the throttle body was cleaned, a new air filter installed, fuel pressure checked. Everything checked out and for a few days it ran fine. Then it started all over again. There has never been a code thrown. All of this goes on only when the ambient temp is above 70 deg.'s. below 70 deg.'s it runs perfect.

Last week it went to the mechanic again and a new crank speed sensor, fuel pump, and diagnostic done. He could not find anything wrong any where. Took it for a test drive and it dyed on the mechanic. Still no codes. What the problem might be? Every Mechanic that has looked at it has gave up, one even saying, " it's possessed."

Ford - Explorer :: 2003 - Rear Wheel Awfully Close To The Front Wheel Well?

I'm buying a 2003 Ford Explorer, XLS Sport Utility 4D. She's got 150k miles on an automatic transmission (pretty sure this model only came in auto anyhow).I'm mostly concerned about the rear axle, as the title prompted. The rear wheel seems awfully close to the front of the wheel well. Is this normal? I google searched some images of this model and seems to be the norm in some cases, and in other cases not.

Attached is a photo of the concerning placement. Is the rear axle bent? Is this suggesting that the rear end is on it's way to crapping itself?
