So I turned on my truck today and the needles acted as if they were possesed. The went under the "starting points" and vibrated there for about 5 seconds or so... Very strange. I also have been getting sluggish power from the truck. Mainly between 2000 and 3000 rpms.. Sound like a diesel at times.
I guess not ALL of the time, but pretty often when I turn off my truck and remove the key from the ignition, I get the "key is in the ignition" chime, and I'm not allowed to lock my truck.
View 2 RepliesI HAVE A 2005 f-150 LARIET 5.4 lt. I have been having a problem with my battery being drained. My stereo has been staying on once the truck has been turned off. It has also been coming on when the truck is parked all by itself and draining the battery. Sometimes when i am driving in the truck and turn the stereo on it wont come on, ten minutes down the road the stereo will all of a sudden come on. I have tried removing the relay for the stereo, no difference. I have also removed all fuses for the stereo and entertainment system, yet the draining of the battery is still occurring. What the problem could be?
View 6 RepliesMy sons 98 F150 4x4. First off he had a head light go out and replaced the bulb. Then a day or so later his tail lights would not go out after he turned the truck off. I had him to replace the pressure switch(I think that's what it is called ) anyways, that didn't work. So now he takes out the fuse every time he turns off the truck, just so the lights will go out. But, when he puts the brake fuse back in, the brakes work fine, but his windows will not roll down. I am totally confused with what is going on.

View 2 RepliesI have a 1999 F-150 with a 4.2L V6. I went out to start the truck this morning and when I powered on the ignition the needles on all the gauges and lights were normal. When the chiming stopped, I turned the key to crank the engine. I heard one click and nothing. Then I noticed all the gauge needles peg out on max, then back to zero. No power at all and nothing. Engine will not do anything. I turn the key to the off position and hear a faint beep coming from under the dash. Not a chime, but a beeping sound. The battery is about 4 months old and the starter is about 2 months old. The engine was bad in the truck when I bought it and I replaced the engine about 2 months ago. It has been running just fine up until this morning. Could the battery be bad? I also have installed new battery cable ends and checked all the connections at the starter.

View 2 RepliesReplaced the ac compressor/filter dryer/exp block on 04 dodge grand caravan. pulled vac for 45 min, let sit for 1hr. No movement of needles no leaks. charged system to 2.69, start van turn on ac compress clutch engaged but will not cycle off stays engaged. Air temp from vents 60 to 65 deg, low side 55 psi high side 250 psi at 85 deg air temp needles do not move up or down stay steady. high side hose from compress very hot ( burned hand on it ) low side hose to compress warm/cool.
View 5 RepliesI drive a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country with just over 47,000 miles. I noticed that during the last few days, when I start the car, the needles on the fuel, speedometer and temperature gauges go all the way up and then back down. After they finish moving, I then see the engine lights go on and off. Normally, when I start the car, just the engine lights go on and off. The movement of the needles on the gauges is new. This is now happening about every other time I start the car.
The car itself seems to be starting and running just fine. I haven’t noticed any drop off or change in performance. What could be causing this oddity? Is this a warning that something worse is about to happen?
I have a 2005 mkiv GLI and my gas gauge, temp gauge, and information display stopped working when the car is running. They work when the car is on auxiliary but not while it's running. The lights all work on the cluster all the time but the needles don't move as soon as the car turns on.
View 3 RepliesI am going down the highway at 70-75 mph listening to music I look down and see my gauge needles sweeping across the faces of the gauges. The heads up display resets. Nothing else in the car changes radio keeps playing, speed doesn't change. Nothing else changed.
Mods that have affected electrical system:
Interior LEDs (front dome, rear dome, footwell lights, glove box and trunk)
1 JL 10 inch sub with JL 900/5 amp
98 accord v6, when we first got it about a year ago the temp gauge was a little erratic. Sometimes it would stay all the way down (cold) after driving for awhile. You can take your finger and thump the plastic and it would jump up to normal. At first it was only temp, but now all gauges including gas level are not working. Odometer still works right but the speedo goes to about 45 and stays there. Thumping still makes the needles bounce around.
View 10 RepliesI have an 07 F150 with the 4.6L engine and i was wondering if theres any need to clean my injectors at 30,000km the truck seems to vibrate at idle but not very noticeable seems like a regular v8 rumble but two ppl have pointed it out recently and have riden in my truck a bunch, should i be puttin some injector cleaner in my fuel?
View 3 RepliesI have had this issue with the truck 2008 F-250 6.4L since I bought it a year ago. At first it seemed as if the truck wouldn't start whenever the water temp gauge was working while she was hot. When the gauge wasn't working she would start right up like a champ. Well a year later ( have only been driving it for 6 months) a full engine rebuild, new high pressure fuel pump ( injector pump on top the engine below the turbos) she still won't start when she is hot. What the issues are.
Right after the engine rebuild I was getting the p088 code which is for the hpfp but since I cleared the codes right after the engine was rebuilt I haven't gotten the code again. I replaced the high pressure fuel pump this last weekend hoping that it would solve all of my issues and she would be like brand new again, but it didn't do anything. When I ran codes right after I installed the high pressure fuel pump I got a few codes p0684 which is the glow plug control module p0284 ( google said) gear lever y position correct but I'm unsure if that's right.
P0528 which is the fan speed sensor circuit ( that was unplugged during the removal of the hpfp and power steering pump or the radiator) p0480 cooking fan circuit ( also unplugged ) p174e out put shaft wheel speed correlation ( not concerned about that one) p008c fuel pump control circuit p008d fuel cooler system ( taken out and unplugged using installation of new hpfp) p115a ( low fuel level forced limit power) that is from trying to start while she had a little bit of air in the system after replacement) p2291 injector control pressure to low- excessive cranking ( probably from the air in the fuel system again). I cleared all those codes once I got her up and running again. Checked for codes yesterday and the only one that came up again was the p0684. Where to check next for this hot start issues,and don't know what to do at this point.
I have an issue with my 2008 f250 6.4 where the gauge cluster is dark and truck won't crank. The only light on the dash is the airbag light. I have tried reprogamming with my Spartan tuner, checked fuses, removed aftermarket alarm, charged batteries. I scanned and got two codes. P1260 theft detected and a u code no comm with cluster.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2008 F150 4-Door. A couple of weeks ago I tried to turn my radio on and it wouldn't come on. I though it was just the cold weather affecting it. The following week I tired the radio again and it still would not come on so I pulled the fuse and checked it and it was good. Put in back in and the radio still would not come on. So I got a new fuse and put it in and the radio still would not come on. So what am I missing. What else can it be.

Running down the road at 44-MPH. Pulling 5,000lbs. Engine died just after turning on the air conditioner. (Not sure this is relevant.)
Would not start. Turned the key - the starter would engage, but the engine would only turn maybe a quarter turn. Try it again engine turns. Try it again and now it only clicks. So, I
-Replaced the battery. Same symptom. Will only turn the engine 1/4 turn.
-Replaced the starter. Same symptom.
-Checked oil. Clean. No Water. No gas smell. (200 miles since last oil change)
-Checked coolant. Clean. No Oil.
-Charged the new battery and tried again. Same symptom.
-Checked and cleaned all grounds and battery cables. Same symptom.
-Checked that the transmission is shifting though the gears. Seems fine.
-Removed serpentine belt. Check all pulleys, and accessories that are driven by the belt. Everything spins quietly and freely.
-I put the truck in neutral and tried to spin the crank pulley with a 2 breaker bar. It wouldn't budge.
Am I missing something? I fear the engine is seized or hydro-locked. If hydro-locked, wouldn't I see signs in the fluids? Can the pistons be hydrolocked with fuel? Not sure what to try next.
Just bought a 04 f150 crewcab 4x4 and the fuel gauge doesn't work.
View 8 RepliesJust recently bought a 04 greg with 35000 on it one owner pretty much brand new. Its starting to get cold over here in va but I notice the temp gauge wasn't moving when warming truck up. After sitting for 25min it was still at 150 degrees. So I drove home about 10 mi away an when I got home it had just started to move up. This can't be normal.
