Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: Humming / Rubbing Sound When Turning Right

Jul 7, 2014

I have a 2004 F-150 STX 2WD with a 2.5" leveling kit on it. I recently have noticed a rubbing sound that can be felt in the steering wheel and gas pedal the instant you turn right. I just replaced both hub assemblies and I just really don't know what it could be. It doesn't happen when you turn left or go straight and there should be no reason as to why my tires rub, because they haven't before. I got my truck aligned and they checked my joints and everything and said that it was fine....

Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: Humming / Rubbing Noise Under The Hood When Come Across 1000 RPMs

I put a link below on the video that I made. But when I come across 1,000 RPMs weather I turn, go straight, left or right it makes this noise like a humming or rubbing noise. I took it to the dealership and they fed me crap saying when it gets worse or when it happens every time brig it back.

I don't think this link is working I'm trying to figure out this iPhone. Search my YouTube channel Kill3rcr3w that's the channel I just uploaded it

Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: Major Dragging And Rubbing Noise In 4WD When Turning

I've looked at several threads but no one describes my exact problem. The issue started suddenly. When I am in 4WD and turn (does not have to be sharp) there is a dragging and rubbing noise. It drags hard enough that it will stop the truck.

Sounds like the brakes engaging and rubbing. I can not see any foreign material wrapped up anywhere. The 4WD appears to be engaging properly and the IWE appear to be working. I can "stomp on it" in a straight line and throw mud with no crazy noises and get a rooster tail from the front end.

I've got about 15000 on new brakes and rotors. Ceramic pads and lifetime rotors all the way around.

Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: While Turning Makes Rubbing / Grinding Noise From Front?

I've got a new issue that is happening on the front end of my truck. Whenever I try turning my wheel while driving, I get this rubbing/grinding noise coming from the front of my truck. It only happens when the wheels are in motion. It seems to happen less when I'm driving at higher speeds, but I can notice it make the sound at any speed. I tried driving it slowly in an empty parking lot while turning and it's definitely making the sound every time the tires rotate.

I took it in for an alignment because this was happening every time I drove, whether it be driving straight or making a turn. Now that my alignment has been fixed, it no longer make this noise if I am driving in a straight line, so it only seems to happen when I'm turning. I had the mechanic check to see if they could reproduce the issue. The mechanic was able to hear what I hear, but when he put it on the lift at the shop, he was not able to reproduce the sound.

Ford :: Rubbing / Humming Sound Near Front Of Car While Driving

While I drive I am experiencing a rubbing or humming sound near the front of the car. The sound is there at all times when the car is moving but seems to lessen when turning in either direction. The faster the car goes the faster the hum. Pressing the brake or accelerator only slows or quickens the humming but doesn't change the intensity. The car is a '96 Ford Taurus that I have owned for less than a year. The issue has only been occurring for two or three months.

Golf/GTI VI :: Rubbing / Humming Sound Occurs Below 10MPH And Increases Above 60MPH

So I have a 2014 VW GTI 4DR 6speed with 25,000 miles on her now and I am getting this weird noise from what i believe is the front end right wheel?

The noise is similar to a rubbing / humming sound that occurs below 10MPH and then increases with repetition at say above 60MPH. I notice a little harder of a rubbing when wheel is turned at say when i pull out from a stop sign!

ALL that i have done was put on hubcentric spacers and that i pulled off to see if noise stopped but it didn't! Could the supplied bolts be to long? I had removed dust caps on rear for clean fitment and sanded any imperfections on all hubs.

The noise isn't loud at all but is definitely noticeable with radio off and windows up!

Could this be a wheel balance issue? Tie rod or arm? Bent RIM?

Ford Excursion :: Tire Rubbing Sound On Slightest Bit Of Turning Effort?

So I just completed my hydroboost install and fixed exhaust manifolds. After this install the below problem started.

ISSUE: While going slow and straight no problems. Slightest bit of turning effort left or right makes a sound like a tire rubbing on leaf springs. I can also feel the vibration. It happens in drive while moving or in neutral while moving. Happens wither hubs in auto or locked. Happens in 2wd or 4wd. It's not the steering pump cause it wines a tad now when brakes applied and I turn steering wheel. So I know what that sounds like. Expected that.

Jacked it up and checked for any movement in steering or ball joints and found nothing.

X does not make the sound above 15 mph. It's annoying....sounds and feels exactly like tire lugs hitting the leaf springs but they are not.

Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: Clunking Sound While Turning Slightly

Recently when I leave my driveway which only has a slight grade to it my truck makes a clunking sound when I hit the gutter and while turning slightly. Also my front drive line from transfer case to front axle has some play in it. I can rotate the front drive line about 3/4" to an 1" while parked in the driveway. Changing u joints. I figured this would be a good starting point. 2005 XLT 4x4 5.4L F150.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Clunking / Rubbing Sound On Right Passenger Side Especially When Turning Left

I have the most terrible clunking/rubbing sound on my right passenger side, especially when I'm turning left. When I drive straight it sounds like the wheel is hopping even when going over minuscule imperfections in the road. I also get a terrible rub when going over speed bumps or into grooves and dips in the road.

I've searched and searched but cannot come up with a answer towards rectifying the issue. My car hasn't been lowered; I'm running the stop 337 suspension. I've replaced the following within the past two years:

-control arm bushings
-ball joints
-tie rod ends
-upper strut bushings and bearings
-passenger side axle
-dog bone mount
-engine mount
-tranny mount

Most recently:

-front struts
-sway bar end-links
-driver's side axle

It seems to like everything should be solid considering I've done all of this crap. I don't understand why I'm having this issue and why it sounds like it is getting worse and worse.

Elantra MD (2010-15) :: Loud Rubbing / Grinding Sound From Front Wheel Area While Turning

Early this week my car started making a loud knocking/rubbing sound (Kind of in between when your brakes are ground down to the rotor and a knocking pattern).

FIRST, it started only when I turned slightly left or left.... NOW, it's doing it as I go straight and when I turn to the right as well... oddly enough it's not as bad when going left anymore...

What this could be?? And if it's an easy DIY fix..... (maybe a link on how) and how much the part(s) might be?? I've taken video (for sound as I drive)...but not sure if I can upload it (size limit).

Golf IV R32 :: Humming / Vibration Sound Coming From Back When Turning At Slow Speed

I purchased my .:R last summer with just over 100k miles on it. Two prior owners, car was fully stock and in great condition except for one thing:

Humming/vibration ("brrrrr" sound) coming from the back of the car when turning at a slow speed with the wheel fully cranked, e.g. moving out of a parking spot. It only occurs when moving, and with the wheel fully or almost fully turned in one direction.

The guy I purchased it from brought it to a local VW dealership when he noticed this and they (obviously) did not find anything wrong with the car, and blamed it on the tire wear.

So I changed all four tires. Still made the noise.

Haldex oil had been changed by the original owner but not by the second owner (who owned the car for two years prior to my purchase). So I had the Haldex oil changed and my mechanic said it was dirty AND at a low level, and might be the source of this problem. The noise did diminish for a bit, but it is still present.

So, I'm afraid my transmission or differential are fried from running on too little oil. It does not affect anything but it is definitely worrying me.

Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: Humming When Accelerated?

2004 FX4 has a humming sound sort of like mud tires on highway when I accelerate a little or a lot. When I let off the accelerator, it stops. It happens wether the truck is cold or been driving all day. Seems to be when cruising and holding the accelerator at a steady speed. When i let off, it stops. When I press on it, it Humms. It seems to be coming from behind me or directly below me. I was thinking fuel pump?

Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: Humming Noise While In 4wd

I went to throw my truck in 4wd the other day and now I'm experiencing a humming noise, but only when in 4 wheel. It's only noticeable when I'm in 4 wheel and I'm off the accelerator or coming to a stop, soon as I accelerate, come to a stop, or take it out of 4wd the noise disappears.

Only other symptom was I tried putting it in 4-low the other day and all it did for a good minute was rev up a bunch, but I switched it back to 2wd and 4-hi and low worked after that. 4wd does still work just fine, it's just buzzing and it's annoying the heck out of me

I did a search, not just on this forum either, all I keep getting is the old "buzzing 'til I put it in 4wd" topic. Hoping to get an answer before I start dropping money trying to find it on my own. I'm not used to these new-style 4wd systems so I'm lost for knowledge here.

Toyota - Sienna :: 2008 - Slight Grinding Or Rubbing Sound When Braking

I have an 08 Toyota Sienna and yesterday I started to notice a very slight grinding or rubbing sound when I apply the brakes coming from the passenger side front wheel. I can only hear the grinding or rubbing sound when I am going very slowly (like the last 20 feet when approaching a stop sign). The sound pulses slightly like two surfaces that are not parallel are rubbing. There is no pulsation or wobble felt in the brake pedal. I'm thinking it's time to get the rotors turned, but it could also be the brake pads.
