Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: 2011 - Sluggish And Bucking While Accelerating

Jul 8, 2016

I bought a 2011 Ecoboost F150 last week. I test drove the crap out of it, and was pleased with it. Go figure, get it home and within a few days, when I put a little foot into it to respond to a call (vol. firefighter) it does the crazy buck me around bit. I do some looking around here and get a little paranoid about the water ingestion thing. It did throw make the CEL flash for 30 secs or so. Then I dig some more and see these things eat spark plugs. I am sitting at 86k miles on it, so I figure, let's try the simple first.

I go pick up some Motocraft plugs and within two mediocre innings of listening to the Angels play, I am finished. I take it out for a test drive, and oh my goodness... the difference. I couldn't get it to buck around or anything. I got on the highway and really got on it, to test and see... no problems whatsoever. Checking the gap on the plugs that came off, they were all between .045 and .050. Moral of my first post.... don't underestimate the importance of the basic maintenance items.

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: 2011 - Swoosh Noise After Accelerating?

I have a 4x4 2011 5.0 f150 with 65k miles. Bought it 4 months ago. I have noticed it makes a swoosh or air sucking noise for a couple of seconds after acceleration and will do it while driving. It is not constant but comes and goes. I have not checked codes. Other than that, really like the truck.

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Bucking At Lower RPMs

This is not on our F150, but rather our Flex that has the 3.5 Ecoboost.

Recently we have been having a bucking problem at lower rpms. Usually when taking off and hitting a slight grade. Doesn't really have a problem at highway speeds. Usually only on takeoff when it shifts through the gears. If you accelerate more, you can stop it for the moment. Weather doesn't make a difference. Also can feel a slighting surging sometimes and can see it on the tack. Like a 2 sec alternating surge. Doesn't do this all the time though. I have replaced plugs with iridium, gapped at 34.

I also purchased two motorcraft coil packs and installed them in different configurations as to see if I could isolate it. No change. I HAVE NO CEL YET. At all. Wish it would! I have tried to make it buck hard enough to throw the code to no avail. I have heard of condensation in the intercooler, but from what I have read it is a higher RPM symptom..This feels just like the COP problem on my 5.4. Unless I have 3 or 4 bad COPS and no CEL. If I could just get a code.

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: 2012 Rough And Bucking At Highway And WOT?

I've had this 2012 for several months now but have never really romped on the throttle until yesterday's road trip (not a lead foot driver).

I was driving on the highway at about 55 when I needed to pass so I floored the throttle and - the truck bucked like a wild horse and the power dropped to a low acceleration. Once I backed off the throttle to about half-way the engine took off like "normal".

These symptoms were repeatable throughout my entire 500 mile trip. Is this a known issue with the EB?

Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Huge Bucking (Loud Thud Noise) When Accelerating

So this phenomenon only happens when I try to rapidly open my throttle but what happens is that I feel a huge bucking in the rear while I'm accelerating.

This bucking makes a loud thud noise and I was wondering if this is normal considering the circumstances under which this occurs.

If I can guess what's happening I think my engine doesn't have enough air and when I rapidly push down the accelerator I'm trying to force in air and fuel and the result is a rapid combustion which causes the bucking effect that I'm experiencing.

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: 5.4L Engine Quite Sluggish At Times

I didn't pick up the Raptor--passed on it for other reasons. I still have my 2010 that I bought with an extended warranty--I'm too old to play with them anymore and rather have everything covered.

When I bought my truck it was a factory certified pre-own so I got the 100k warranty plus an extended bumper-bumper coverage.

With that said I have the 5.4L engine and I've noticed here recently that's it is quite sluggish at times. I've read and most say put a tuner on it--in the past I would be all over that. My old 6L Diesel had a tuner but of course during that time I was all for blowing up engines and replacing them. Now not so much.

I noticed that the previous owner threw a damn Airaid intake on it -- I feel like the Airaid is really screwing crap up. I'm wondering if I should just buy the pieces I need to go back to a stock airbox?

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Sluggish Throttle Response On EFI Ecoboost?

Experiencing sluggish throttle response on the EFI Ecoboost? I have had several incidents where I'm needing to change lanes fast and the response is a dead second or two before the motor catches up to the throttle position. Then, it rockets forward at full throttle to catch up. By that time it's too late to change lanes and I have to be on the brakes hard to keep from rear ending the guy in front of me. I'm coming from a carburetored Toyota Tacoma that was far more responsive (minus the power) then this truck. I never felt hesitant to jump on it and go. Now I feel like my life depends on waiting until I have all day to change lanes, make a left turn or pass a slow moving vehicle on a two lane road. Is this something the dealer can adjust?

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Clicking At Idle - Sluggish / Missing / Slipping?

My 2011 F150 5.0 was bought used a year ago, and ran like new. A few months ago, several things started acting up.

* clicking at idle. Just a tick-tick-tick-tick kinda like a diesel. I swear it just started, but the dealer tells me it's "normal".

* Oil - I'm "losing" about a half quart a month. No leaks. 1500 miles after a change, it's dingy. (not dirty just brown) Dealer tells me it's "normal" that these trucks consume a little oil and that it will get dirty.

All that I could ignore but this is what bothers me:

The truck seems to struggle, mildly, to maintain speed on hills. It'll drop to 1k rpms before downshifting. Just a pig. Of course if I stomp it to the floor I get a good response, but it is just sluggish and wimpy when driving "normally". Also, when maintaining speed, there's a barely noticeable missing/slipping happening. When I pull a couple thousand pounds it really struggles.

This is happening. Three dealers tell me there's nothing wrong with the truck. After pressing the first dealer they admitted they never drove the truck. The second dealer called me to pick it up because nothing was wrong and also admitted to not having driven it. After I demanded they drive it, they called back still saying nothing is wrong. "The computer would show it if there was a problem." The third dealer has it now, drove it this morning, guess what? "There's nothing wrong, maybe you can come and show us."

I cannot believe the industry has lost the ability to diagnose vehicles beyond what a computer tells them. Do techs not check compression or ignition or fuel pressure any more? Seems to me a valve issue for example could be the cause of all my symptoms, or fuel delivery, or weak spark, none of which would show up on the freaking computer.

Coyote 5.0 engine and the 6R80 trans.

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Truck With Ecoboost Is Sluggish And Slow To React When Try To Get Back Up To Speeds

When speeds are 40-50 mph range and then back off a bit to get back up to speed it reacts very slow. Will get up to highway speeds on an easy acceleration, but when I try to get back up to speeds quickly or catch up then truck is sluggish and slow to react. Was told it may be a stretched drivetrain? Is that possible?

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Strange Noise During Accelerating

This has happened about half a dozen times while accelerating. It sounds sort of like it's between a scratching noise and a rattling noise. It's only happened at highway speeds 50-60 mph while accelerating and will stop when I let off the gas. There have been a few times that i can get it to come back if i step on the throttle again, but will not duplicate every time.

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: 2012 - Shudder And Thunk While Accelerating?

In june of 2014 I purchased a 2012 F150 Harley Edition with the 6.2 for my wife to use as a daily driver. I told her that she could have any vehicle she wanted and she chose the White Harley Truck.

It is a Ford Certified Pre Owned and we took delivery with about 30,000 miles on the odometer.

From the test drive in June 2014 until today the truck has had two distinct issues with the rear end and suspension:

1. After coming to a normal stop (at a light) when you start to accelerate (on green) there is a distinct thunk that is heard and felt. Having owned other vehicles with a slip yoke drive shaft I knew right away that the slip yoke needed to be cleaned and lubricated and that is how the dealer repaired this issue. The repair lasted about 10,000 miles and the thunk started again recently.

2. Also after coming to a normal stop and then accelerating there is a vibration felt until the mass of the truck is moving along at about 20 MPH. It's not a vibration like a wheel/tire is out of balance it's more like the whole vehicle is shaking similar to the Space Shuttle Experience ride at the Kennedy Space Center. The shudder is severe enough that my elderly neighbors asked if the truck "was going to make it without falling apart" when my wife and I took them to dinner one evening. The Shudder is exponentially worse when towing any kind of trailer. I have a tandem axle car hauler to haul a 1992 Jeep YJ to various events and the whole setup might weigh 5000 LBS max which is well under the tow capacity of the truck. To say the shaking is violent is putting it lightly.

When I took it in for service, the dealer told me that it was my fault for riding around with the locking differential locked. I told them nice try and that I know what a locking diff is and how to use it because I have two of them in my Jeep. I then took the service advisor for a ride, made him verify the diff is off and demonstrated the problem without even leaving the parking lot. At that point he acknowledged the condition I left the vehicle with him again. The repair the dealer made was to change the rear differential fluid and called me to say the truck was ready.

I drove back to the dealer again (35 minutes in light traffic) where I was presented with the vehicle. I didn't have to leave the lot before I knew it still was not fixed and pulled back into the service lane. I was greeted by the advisor who then proceeded to tell me it was "characteristic of the vehicle." I was completely frustrated and took my truck with it's "characteristic" shudder home.

I have a 2010 F150 Xlt super crew with a 4.6L. I've noticed lately when I start from a full stop the the truck has a small shutter or hesitation before it starts accelerating. Its barely noticable but it is there. What it could be? I had the tourque converter replaced just before my warranty was up, I've only put 30000 Km on it since. Was wondering if it could be the cause.

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Hard To Start Then Sounds Like Rocks In A Tin Can Upon Accelerating

Ok, heres my issue. '11 crew cab f150, 4x4 5.0L. 108K miles Yesterday got in my truck to leave and it would crank, idle very rough with RPMs fluctuating then die. Did this several times til it stayed cranked long enough for me to press the accelerator to keep it cranked. Headed out down the road and it drove fine. Then upon accelerating I'd hear a noise like rocks in a tin can. Every time I accelerated it would do this. Drove to a mechanic. He drove it, heard it and told me to bring it back today because he was covered up. The rattle sound is similar to valves ticking, but worse.

I got up under it and looked for loose skid plates and loose exhaust components and could find nothing. Took it for another drive,engaged the 4x4 to 4H, drove it for a minute, went back to 2H and the sound was all but gone. Went ahead and filled up with premium gas. (had an 89 ranger that would only run on premium so thought i'd try it) Drove home. the noise was gone. Got up this morning. The truck hesitated to start. took three tries, then fired up normally. then drove it....no problems. no noise, everything normal. Don't wanna take it to the mechanic, if there is no apparent problem now. What's going on with my truck?

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Loud Pop When Accelerating Then Engine Lost Power

Just a note to mention that last Friday my fiance was driving her'13 F150 with Ecoboost (73,000 mi) and heard a "loud" pop when accelerating then engine lost power. She called me so I had her restart it and all seemed fine- but drove 1/2 mile and same thing. Called Ford roadside service- got a tow within 30 min to dealer down road.

Turns out they had to replace the throttle body. Fortunately I have the Ford Extended Warranty thru 125,000. This was the second significant failure for the truck- first was a leaking A/C Evaporator which required pulling the entire dash. I won't keep this truck beyond the extended warranty.

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: 2013 EB - While Accelerating Strange Moans Under Hood?

My EB makes a moaning noise when I am accelerating up to speed when driving "old Man " style. I guess its the turbo blow off valve(s) like used to happen on my old 7.3's. I hope its not anything to worry about. The truck runs string and gets 18 mpg mixed driving. I do get bon it a lot too.

Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: 2002 - Bucking Whilst Accelerating?

I have 2002 4.2L F150 w/ Manual Transmission. The problem I have started about a week ago. I noticed it started to idle very rough and at times felt like it would almost stall if i didn't keep giving it some gas. Then a few days later it started to jerk/and buck intermittently while accelerating. I changed out the plugs and wires. My coil pack was replaced a year ago but was still under warranty so i installed a new one just in case. I cleaned and inspected the EGR valve and replaced the TPS. The rough idling seems to have cleared up but the jerking/and bucking still remains.

When the engine is cold the truck runs fine, and then as the engine starts to warm up it will jerk and buck while accelerating at any speed. Once the engine has reached its optimal temperature the jerking/bucking goes away and it runs smooth as silk. I can drive it for for a few hours with no issues whatsoever. As soon as the engine cools, the cycle starts all over again. I figured maybe the intake gaskets were on their last legs and when they heat up they seal tighter causing the engine to smooth out.

So I replaced the upper and lower plenum gaskets today and cleaned everything up. It still did not fix the problem.

If I am around 75 or so in 6th is vibrates, but downshifting to 5th or 4th seem to take it away.

I am going in tomorrow and have the tires rotated and balance, but I think it is somewhere else. It has a little over 42,000 miles
