How to get the gear indicator lights to stay on? I can do it manually but it has to be every time I restart the motor. I think it completes the instrument cluster with it one.
View 9 RepliesI have a 2011 F-150 with the center console shift lever. I mainly drive the truck during the day so it's possible I never notice this but do the gear indicators illuminate when the lights are on? I happened to look down when I put the truck in gear and noticed that the selector has a red light showing its position but it was really hard to see what gear you have selected.
Normally I just pull it down until I hit D, knowing it clicks 3 times, and I'm off. If you do happen to go into M then you see it on the dash. So I don't know if I've never noticed it or if I have a burned out bulb and its no longer lit up. It's not a big deal but I always like to replace burnt out dash lights just so it looks good but I don't know the answer to this one.
Just got my 2011 Ecoboost FX4 on June 15th. For most of the time I had it, the in-dash LCD showed the 6 gears (on the right side of the display) for the trans & highlighted which gear it was in at any time (in Automatic mode, not select-shift). It disappeared & I can't figure out how to get it back?????? Nothing is listed in the manual.

Current Fixes I've completed
Sprayed electrical cleaner in all 4 door latch assemblies (didn't work)
Relubricated all 4 door latch assemblies with food grade lithium grease (didn't work)
Replaced passenger door full latch assembly (didn't work)
What is my next step? I have noticed that if I wedge the door lock button on the driver's side door into the lock position, the door ajar message turns off and stays off? I was thinking wiring or relay issues?
I have a Nissan 98 frontier 4wheel drive 4 cylinder king cab. I just changed the windshield washer pump and since then the brake and battery indicator lights stay on. I disconnected the battery and that didn't work. The battery checks out and I could find the switch for the parking brake to check it. Sounds like a short in the wiring harness somewhere.
View 7 Replies2009 F-150 XLT Super Crew 5.4 engine. The compressor cycles, but too often to get the interior cold. It has always been like this. While still in warranty Ford said it is fine. A good mechanic hooked it up to his machines and it seemed there is a sensor that said discharge temperature was below zero. Not even close. If there is one, where is this sensor? Is there a way to bypass this proble?
View 2 RepliesI purchased a used 2012 F-150 Lariat in April, has 46,000 miles on it. I think the 3-year bumper-to-bumper expired about 2 weeks ago.
I know I've seen the heated mirror indicator light come on before, but I have not needed to use it much since April. The light would not come on today - I don't know if the mirrors actually got heated or not. I really did not need to use them, but wanted to see if it would remove the condensation from sitting outside over night.
Is it possible that the heated mirror would not come on because its too warm ? (i.e., 47 F in my case) For the first time ever, I used the power sliding rear window last night - is it possibly related to that ? Maybe its not fully closed ?
Is it possibly just a burned out bulb ? Or maybe a 'fuse' I can check ?
I bought a used 2011 ford f150 crew cab lariat. I love it!! 5.0 liter, towing package. I notice that when I turn on the headlights, there is no indication on the display that they are on ! When I put it on high beam, I see the blue light icon on the display.
2. Another question, it has the headed mirror option, but I can't find any control that turns this on. Is this automatically controlled??
3. One more. It doesn't have daylight running lights and when I leave the headlights on and exit the vehicle, the headlight stay on! There is an auto delay digital switch on the display but I think that only applies to how long the headlight stay on when exiting the vehicle and the light switch is on auto. I am confused about the light setting on the truck.
The truck only has 24k on it so is still under bumper to bumper warranty.
2014 F150 FX4. The climate control recirculation door will not stay on. It will switch to fresh air by itself. When its cold outside if I set the climate temp to 75 deg. and system on auto with recirculation on, after a few min or so it will change to fresh air. At first I thought that maybe its normal for the auto system. So, I set it to manual mode, 75 deg. floor vents on med to low speed blower with recirculation on. And the same thing happens. There is no rime or reason to when it will switch.
Sometimes it seem to change more after stopping at a stop sign or after changing the seat heater temp, but I can't make it happen. It will happen most times in a 15 mile trip about three times. I took it to the dealer and they had the vehicle all day and said that it is normal. They said that Ford lets their recirc door do what ever they want depending on the temp. even in manual mode.
The turn indicator is annoyingly loud? Does the small speaker under the dash make all the tones for dash functions, including the blinker noise? I'm tempted to put a piece of sound deadening foam over that little sucker.
View 14 RepliesI have an issue that popped up on my 2012 F-150 today. I was driving a bit today and when I returned home and shut the truck off I noticed that the right turn signal indicator stayed faintly illuminated. None of the lights outside are affected, and they all work normally, just that the indicator on the dash is staying lit.
The only thing I can see is that last week I smashed up the drivers side mirror and it busted the lens off of the LED lights in the mirror and 1 LED bulb is exposed. It did rain a bit today but I figured it would short out and blow a fuse if anything.
I will undo the negative battery cable tomorrow and see if it will reset, if not I will have te dealer check it out when I drop it off to have the roof reprinted next week.
I have a 2014 f250 with the 6.2 and just turned 13,800 miles. I tend to drive in tow haul a lot, while not towing because I like the shift pattern better and saves on brakes while stopping. Last night I slowed to a stop sign, came to complete stop. Went to take off slowly like always and the truck was like in neutral, looked down and the indicator showed 5th gear. Let off and watched it go to 1st and took off no problem. This all took only half a second or so, seemed fine after that. What might of happened?
View 3 RepliesStarted a while back and comes and goes. Only commonality I have found is the truck needs to be warmed up for it to happen and usually after a few hours of driving. The downshift from 5th or 6th into fourth, at times, produces anywhere from a light to violent clunk, feels like a typical tranny slip. It will do it while in cruise and it will do it if I don't have the cruise on. Can't figure out if it is going to be a tune issue or hardware.
It does it only downshifting into 4th from 5th or 6th, no other downshifting is a problem and usually the 6th to 4th produces the worst results. At highway speeds that is usually a shift from around 2Krpm to just over 3K rpm (6th to 4th) if it is from 5th it is about 2500 to 3K. Start from a stop and go WOT and there are no issues.
Having it in Tow/Haul or not makes no difference as far as I can tell. IT can do it on one hill and the next time be just fine or do it 2-3 hills in a row. After this last trip it will do it at 9K feet or at 60 feet elevation, didn't make a difference there either.
Another issue that may be hurting the computer is the truck originally came with the 235 tires, it now has 285's and the rear is only 3.31. I plan on going with 265's and maybe still a gear change to 3.73's in the future. I usually only notice this on long trips, first was a 1500mile hauling an ATV, second was last week during a 2500 mile empty. Although I have had it do it a few times locally. I figure those bigger tires can't be good especially with that high of a rear for the management system.

View 2 RepliesWe have a 04 Town and County with about 97,000 miles on it. If we are sitting still for a period of time, it will drop into limp mode. You actually hear a clunk, then the shift indicator lights up ever gear PRND, they all appear with a box around them as indicated. It happens more often if the AC is running. Actually at stop lights we turn the AC off. It happened in line at a drive in movie once. After it sits for a bit it is fine. No issues going down the road. But it seems to happen if there is not movement.

View 5 RepliesI know a few days ago all of my blinker lights were working properly since I had the car serviced at the dealer and they made me test all the lights before I dropped it off. But yesterday my "check the lights" yellow lightbulb indicator came on, so I thought, ok, probably one of lights burned out. But then, when I needed to turn left, I saw my blinker on the dashboard blink with twice the usual frequency, but the only turning light I could see from behind the wheel, on the left mirror was blinking normally.
So, I stopped, got out of the car and looked around to find that neither of my front or rear left blinkers were working at all. So, here come the questions. How likely is it for BOTH lights to burn out at exactly same time? If they did, would this cause the dashboard blinker to blink at twice the usual rate? And if so, why is the mirror blinker blinks at normal rate? By the way, the right blinker is not affected by this strange affliction. Continuing, what is the best way to find out if this is
(a) capacitor problem,
(b) burned-out light(s) or
(c)(worst possible case)problem with a very expensive control board.
I purchased a 2004 Chrysler Town & Country Dec 2003. I noticed an intermittent problem with my gear shift indicator lights PDRNL were all lighting up when I would start the vehicle in February 2004. I would have to play with the shift lever a few times to get it into gear.
On Feb 26, 2004 the vehicle would not start at all, would not even turn over. The vehicle had to be towed to the dealership. It had 3500 miles at the time. The error code was PO706 check shifter signal. They said it was the transmission range sensor and replaced it. I had no problems for 2000 miles until I was in northern Michigan and the gear shift indicator lights started doing the same thing.
I brought it to a local Chrysler dealership the next morning and they scanned the following codes PO1791 loss of prime PO705 check shifter signal BCM stored TCM message not received FCM stored TCM communication fault DSD stored incomplete power voltage. This dealership checked connections and wiring harness which were okay so advised me to take it back to my dealership at home since they would have to tear the whole van down to figure out what was wrong and any parts they would need would not get there before I left for home.
Luckily, I made it home with only one incident with these lights coming on. My dealership had the same error code PO706 and also PO444. Here is what their repair order states "DTC PO706 shift signal fault. Front pump allowing torque convertor to bleed down IPM internally shorted causing intermittent shift signal errors and PO444 and PO706. Scan and perform trans diag and fluid level full R & I the transmission R & I the pan and valve body replace the filter R & I the front pump and replace the front pump and torque convertor called STAR about intermittent loss of shift signal was told to replace the IPM. Replace the IPM (power distribution center) retest ok at this time."
So here is my question....I am very worried with all that I am reading about transmission problems and this van has only 6500 miles and all these parts that they have had to replace already is really scaring me!
2000 Honda Odyssey, Gear indicator light on ther dash works when I start the van, however, when I turn on the headlights, the gear indicator and the gauge illumination lights do not work, when I switch the headlights off the gear indicator light works again. I checked the fuses and replaced them just to check.
