Recently my father bought a 2007 Ford Ranger from a dealership. I have only noticed the other day that the bottom of the door is forming rust. What is the easiest way to go about fixing this.

View 4 RepliesI changed the oil on my '98 Ranger 4.0L V6 yesterday and noticed a little bit of coolant on the bottom of the bell housing. It wasn't much (yet), but it was trickling down from above on the driver's side. I couldn't see clearly behind the engine on top without removing some stuff, but I could see where it looked like it was dripping onto the bell housing, ca.3/4 of the way up on the driver's side. Where the leak may be and how to fix it? As I said, it's only a couple drops now, but I'd like to nip it in the bud.
View 4 Replies I will be repairing the rust at the bottom edges of my doors. I work at a body shop and we've done 2 X's in the last 2 weeks! one was an 02 and was really bad. the owner wanted 4 new doors and rust repaired at the R/R lower C-pillar. the one today was an 04or 05? and just started to pop. After the first I looked at my doors and my L/R is the worst with just starting to flake paint. The others are just starting to pop.
I'll take some pics of what I'm doing which will be the same we did at the shop. In the years I've been on this site I've never seen mention of this! I know it`s more common in the midwest and east so I'm sure there are more than just a few! In as you don't know what I'm talking about.....look under the rubber weather strip (flap) on the lower part of the doors. the rust starts at the seem where the door frame and skin attach!
what i have is the driver's side door on my 1999 ranger is hard to open, the door seal sticks to the door and makes it hard to open, i am afraid of breaking the door handle off, is there any thing to clean seal with to make it not stick? the seal is not sticky to touch neither is the door but when out in the sun for a while they stick together, mechanic told me to spray with wd40 that didn't

I have a non-powered door mirror. if I understand my FoMoCo Workshop Manual correctly, I should be able to replace the exterior mirror glass without the need for a completely new mirror assembly.
So I read the posts on dome lights staying on and the solution to spray WD40 in the latch but my problem is the opposite. The light sometimes comes on, sometimes it doesn't, when the door is opened, same if using the dash switch, sometimes light, sometimes darkness. Sometimes it just barely lights up, and I see its an LED in there. 2004 2wd Edge 2 door.....

View 3 RepliesLike the title says, my 99 ranger has the door ajar light stuck on, which in turn is making the dome light stay on. It's kinda been acting up lately, but would go out eventually. Today I washed it and had the doors open for a while. After I shut the doors and started it the light stayed on and hasn't gone off since. I pulled the negative cable tonight. And no, the doors aren't open! FWIW I cant pull the doors any tighter closed and make the light go out..
View 6 RepliesI purchased a 6.7 Diesel 2014 F250 Super Duty Crew Cab about 3 months ago. Yesterday I started my truck using the remote starter from inside my house. Seconds after I heard a loud noise. Looked outside, saw nothing and thought nothing of it till I went to open my door and realized that the driver door window shattered! I live in a quiet area, it wasn't a rock thrown at my truck or anything like that, it just Blew!!!!
I'm wondering if the truck might have some sort of pressure or torque if you wish on that window to make it just pop! My mirrors were folded in however I can't see that playing a role......
So I've got this 1992 Ranger extended cab with power door locks and neither side is working. It has power windows too and they work fine. I checked the 30amp fuse under the hood for the power door locks and it's good and checked it with a test light and it's good. What's most likely the cause that both sides don't work? Is there a way to troubleshoot with a test light to trace down the problem as a bad switch or actuator?

View 5 RepliesIn the past week after work the door ajar light comes on and stays on. I've checked all doors and they are not ajar. The dome light comes on when i start the engine and goes off after a few seconds, but only when i have this door ajar problem. After I get home and shut off the engine for about 30 seconds, then restart, the dome light nor the door ajar don't come on.
View 14 RepliesMy actuator/motor doesn't have the screws that hold it on. It's just clipped down. Can I just pry it up & off with out it breaking the clips that hold it down? It's a 97 Ranger.

View 3 RepliesI recently bought a 1994 Ford Ranger, XLT 4 cylinder supercab. They lost the door keys when they replaced the ignition because they never locked their doors. I bought new lock cylinders with keys and set out for an adventure. Removing the metal clamp that holds the cylinder in place was actually easier than I thought. It's that darn plastic piece connecting the cylinder to the rod for the lock system that will not break or come off. Here's the best picture I could find real quick. How do you get that vile piece of 20 year old plastic off? It's in a difficult place to get tools in there, and I can't seem to get leverage with a small screwdriver anywhere. What tips and tricks do y'all have?
View 1 RepliesI'm finally bringing my 99 regular cab to Texas next month and I'm putting together my first list of upgrades to do it. On the top of that list is a remote start system. I am considering installing power door locks so I can install a nicer RS system. It would allow me double my starting distance and take strain off my already bad back since I won't have to lean across the cab to let people in.
View 2 RepliesToday I've been working on fixing the Door Ajar problem that's developed in my 2002 ranger extended cab. I haven't made any progress taking the main doors apart and testing the switches. Doing a little research on the forum I learned that the door ajar wiring is tied in with the dome/instrument dimmer. Well that's interesting because my instrument dimmer was never worker properly. It dims the running lights instead of anything in the cab, and if I turn it down too low, the fog lights won't function.
So I have a few questions:
+What's the way to determine which door, if any, is sending "door ajar"? I'd rather not take the back doors apart, and check the wiring on each door.
+What's the deal with my dimmer?
It looks like my door lock wire looms go under the hood but I haven't had any luck finding them. Install an alarm with negative 500Ma pulse to operate them ? I have relays but am also wondering if the truck has its own somewhere that I can piggyback onto. I know the colors are Pink with a yellow stripe and Pink with a light green stripe.
