Alright i got a 2000 f250 with the 7.3 and its stick, when i let off the clutch to start moving, and at low speeds like mainly 1st and 2nd gear. Right below the cab there's a loud kinda growling or rumble, it shakes the truck a bit til i start moving good. Then it goes away. But what it could be? I think pilot bearing.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2000 f250 superduty gas v10 6.8L . I bought this truck about 4 months ago. Now when I take off from a complete stop the truck shakes up until second gear, shifts fine all the way up until the last gear it looses power "loosing power" i mean i can put my foot into the pedal and it takes forever to climb speed meanwhile the RPM'S never skyrocket like it the transmission was slipping if anything a couple times the RPM's dropped are stayed the same then as i take my foot off of the pedal once i have my desired speed sometimes not always the truck will give me a little jerk Also Just the other day I was driving on the highway and decide to put her on cruise control at about 70mph, I set the cruise control and the RPM gauge was just over 2,000 and the tach was fluctuating up and down about 1/16 of an inch. I been reading alot of forums and what I got out of them is it maybe pointing me to a misfire maybe the coil packs? Plugs?It's not something major like a transmission rebuilt.
View 6 RepliesI have spent alot of time looking through threads about v10's misfiring and have not been able to resolve my issue. I recently purchased a 2000 v10 f250 with about 220000 miles on it I bought it knowing it had one miss fire but now I have a total of three. Te truck has no problems accelerating but at a little over 40 mph the engine shakes quite noticeably and after 60 i5 seems to smooth out. After alot of reading I replaced all of my plugs and ignition coils, ran a can of sea foam through my gas tank and my intake with no change to the miss fires. I have started my trials with the fuel injectors by switching them from miss firing cylinders to ones that aren't. Some other information is my truck has no egr on my intake.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2000 F250 2wd 6spd with a loud banging noise that has been vexing me for quite sometime now. The bang happens when I go over bumps (even small ones like road reflectors) while driving. I don't think it is suspension related since all the ball joints, front/rear swaybar and endlink bushings have been replaced fairly recently. All the springs and bushings also look okay.
The noise seems to come from the rear, and I notice that if I let off the gas when I go over a bump, it does not make a sound. Conversely, if I am accelerating aggressively and hit a bump, the sound is much louder. Also, if I step on the clutch while keeping my foot steady on the gas, it makes a bang. Jumping up and down in the bed while the truck is parked does not recreate the sound. I have already greased the driveshaft spline joint so I'm thinking the sound might be differential or transmission related. What it could be?
I have a 2003 super duty V10 4WD super cab long bed.
loud deep rumble noise when turn on the blower. both heat and a/c. removed the blower and seemed to turn ok. blew out all vents. removed heater radiator cover, checked most flaps to see if working. doesn't seem to be obstruction invent. the flap behind blower clear and functioning ok.
When on second speed, almost sounds like blower motor is out of balance. if run on high for 1 minute, smell electrical burning! Think to replace motor will work? will post another issue with radio and power windows
My 1999 f250 v10 automatic shakes really bad only when your doing 70-80 kmh unless you shut off the overdrive or go faster... why?
View 8 RepliesI have a noise with my new (2.6k miles) 2000 Diesel F250 Crew Cab. When I make low speed, right turns while crossing any type of depression in the road I hear a loud knock as if the left shock is bottoming out. There's an intersection near my house with runoff depressions across the road, I almost always hear the noise when making that turn. I've occasionally heard it coming from the right side when making a left turn.
View 14 RepliesSo to start at the beginning.... Traveled across Canada East to West towing 11000lb travel trailer, no problem. Have used 4x4 in a few campsites to pull out of a pitch without spinning the wheels and causing damage to the site when it has been really wet. All good.
Got to Banff in December and the town was an Ice rink, engaged 4x4 and all good. Crossed the Rockies and the 4x4 starts making grinding noises. Up and down some mountains and squeaking, grinding noise then clunking.
I have manual hubs, disengage and the noise all goes away. Engage 1 hub and no noise. Engage both hubs, noise back.
I bought some needle bearings and went to swap them. Got hubs apart and they look good. No scoring on the drive shafts. They are not dry, but as I have them open, repack them with grease anyway.
Do more research... Remove ABS sensor and repack main bearings with grease. (broke one sensor pulling it out, too cold plastic brittle oops). Still clunking noises.
The universal joints look good, doesn't appear to be any play in them. However, the axle seal (knuckle seal) (F81Z-3254-CB) does move around a lot in it's metal casing. It is tight on the shaft, but with the hub off, I can move it in and out, and move it side to side. If I had ESOF hubs I guess they would not be locking as I'm sure there would be no vacuum in there!
Question is then, would this seal be allowing the universal joint to wobble under load in 4x4 mode? Would this wobble be the cause of the rumble? As it is labelled as a seal and not a bearing, I wouldn't of thought this would have been a loaded point, and the weight would have been taken by the associated bearings and it could be run without this seal? But if it is not this, then I'm still looking for a clue as to what is making the rumble....
I have a 'new-to-me' Ford F-550 with the vaunted 7.3 Powerstroke diesel engine. The truck only has 120k miles and ran great when I bought it. Last week it began acting up. While driving on the highway, it lost power, began running rough, and once I pulled over, it died.
After a few minutes, I tried re-starting the truck, it started, but had little to no power....I could get up to 30-35mph and then it would slow down and lost all power. I let the truck sit for about 20 minutes while I refilled the diesel tank, it started right up and drove normally for another 10-15 minutes and then the same thing happened again.
The truck sat for a day and then drove normally for two entire days. This morning, it began acting up. It is the same as before..... what to do with this type of issue?
There is not a check engine light lit (yes, it works). The diesel is from a good source that is not causing problems in anything else. The truck is otherwise strong.

View 3 RepliesI have a 2004 Ford F250 Turbo Diesel, egr delete, headstuds, intake, dual stacks, etc and when i turn my wheel a loud whining noise comes from under the hood, I noticed it put tension in my brakes. When I accelerate it gets louder and when i let off the gas it goes away... i checked my fluid in my steering pump and it was low so i put some more in and the next day it was all sitting under neath the truck.... any quick fix or do i need to replace the whole pump?
View 2 RepliesI drive a 2000 F250 5.4L. Currently has about 168,000 miles on it. I changed the oil the other day and cleaned the air filter. I used what I usually use on the oil change which has never been a problem. But this is first time to clean the K&N filter. A day or so later my engine is making a loud air rushing noise. Under throttle the engine compartment sounds like a wind tunnel. At 3500ish rpms it makes a harsh whistle noise. The air rushing noise doesn't go away once its warmed up or after the engine has been cool. Noise didn't go away with the filter being taken off either.
Could all of this be caused by cleaning and not using k&n air filter oil (but rather WD40 upon Dad's suggestion)? Or is there something else going on?
I have a 2006 f250 lariat 192k no mods except k&n filter everything is stock. I have 2" pro comp level kit and a scan gauge 2 nothing fancy! Well the other day I noticed my truck was chirping like a Chirp chirp chirp...... Chirp chirp...... Chirp chirp chirp! It goes up and down with the rpm's but it's comes on and off only when the engine is up to running temps the belt does squeak during warm up but I don't think that's it, it's coming from the back of the engine I'm sure of it because I used a paper towel tube and listed right in the turbo hpop area on top of the engine but it's too hard to tell I can't find exactly where it's coming from, some people I've had listen think it's a belt or pulley or tensioner! But I'm not sure if it is because I've sprayed water, and wd40 on the belt and pulleys with no change!!! I'm afraid it's a lifter or something inside the engine yet it's too loud and pronounced to sound like it's coming from the inside! I'm just lost!
View 8 RepliesMy 05 f250 5.4 has developed a whine that is easy to hear in low rpms. I don't think it goes away with higher rpms, but instead is just masked by the sound of the engine. It will do this in drive, reverse, and also when it is revved in park. What this could be?
View 10 RepliesMy 2002 F250 with the 5.4 (215,000 miles) has a loud tap upon start up, only on the passenger side, heard best in the wheel well. It only lasts about 30 seconds to a minute. It occasionally rears it's head driving around town but only intermittently. Just drove it 275 miles, at 13mpg, truck runs fine, just annoying.
View 9 RepliesPicked up a new to me 2011 F250 Lariat. She had a few odds and ends to take care of, but I was ok with that. So far I fixed the reverse sensors (2 were out) creaking in the back (leaf spring bushings needed a little Lithium Grease) Squeak in the back (tailgate step needed a little greasing). Now on to my next problem!
This is my first 6.2l (first f250 in general). Truck starts up great and idles quite. Taking off driving, it sounds loud as hell under the hood. To me it sounds like the Fan is making a loud sound as the motor is accelerating. It is more noticeable when you really floor it. Prior to this I owned a 2010 F150 and I know stomping on it the motor really revs up, but this other sound to me isn't right/normal. Googling around, the closest I found to it was:

Granted it's for an expedition, but the sound is damn near identical. Looking on youtube at 1 or 2 videos of a f250 doing a 0-60 all I heard was the sound of the motor revving, so that has me convinced the sound I'm hearing is not normal. I'm 99% convinced it has to be the fan clutch.

View 4 Replies2000 f250 7.3. Today I tried using the 4x4 and no light or anything. Here is what i have tried so far. Swapped the relays and also swapped them with the towing relays with no change. Not getting any voltage to the t-case shift motor at the selector switch testing between pins 2 and 3 there is 4.3 volts with switch in 2wd 2.4 volts at 4 high and 1.09 volts at 4 low. Where to go from here? it worked fine 3 days ago.

View 7 Repliesmy 00 f250 has the air bag light on all the time. it does not flash it just stays solid. it was like this when i bought the truck @3 months ago. also the passenger air bag switch does not light up when you use it. is this causing my airbag light to stay on?
