I have a 2003 f350 4x4 lariat lifted 3 inches on 35s. I am getting a a roaring and vibration in the right side of the front end when I make a hard left turn. Don't get it going straight or right and get it more in the throttle. My mechanic and I thought it was the front right hub bearing/assembly. So we replaced it and the noise and vibration is still there and now there a shimmy in the steering.

View 2 RepliesIve got a 2002 f250 Sd 4x4 with 93000. Im getting severe vibration from the front drivers side at highway speed. I thought it might be a warped rotor but i cant feel it in the brake pedal, when I put the brakes on. How can you tell when the hub bearing assembly is going bad? The truck doesnt pull to that side either. I can hear it, and feel it more when i'm going around highway corners. When im driving through town, I can hear a "clunk,clunk,clunk" noise coming from that side also.

The problem is my clutch fan keeps roaring when I press the gas it's extremely loud all my gauges are fine so the truck isn't overheating? Also not a bad fan clutch I wasted 300 bucks on that and it's still doing the same thing.
View 6 RepliesI've been chasing a noise/vibration that periodically comes from the front end of my '99 F250 SD. Quick & dirty of it........basically while cruising 55-60 down the road, sometimes when I hit a bump in the road or go over some railroad tracks or something like that I will get a grinding/vibration from what sounds like the front drivers side wheel. Best way to describe it is it literally sounds like my wheel is running on the rumble strip on the edge of the road at road speed. It will fade in & out a little & last maybe 5-20 seconds & eventually quite until some time farther down the road if I hit another bump. Doesn't happen all the time, just randomly.
So far to try & problem solve I have lifted the front & spun & kicked & wiggled & pulled on the wheel to see if I can feel or hear anything & everything seems solid. I have pulled the wheel off & looked the whole hub & wheel bearing over & everything seems fine. I have even pulled the 4x4 lockout out & inspected everything in the lockout & inside the wheel bearing & can't find anything that seems to be bad. (My original thought was that the Warn hubs I have might be messed up & the hub is trying to engage while driving down the road & that is the grinding & vibration I'm feeling.).
As mentioned above I have Warn manual hubs, I just replaced the wheel bearing last summer (only have about 10,000 miles on it), & all the seals & ball joints were done about 3 years ago.
I have a 2000 F350 4X4 crew cab and have a vibration in the front end. I have done sone investigating and have come to the conclusion that is the front wheel bearings. The dealers says I have to buy the entire hub assemble but I seem to think different. But if I can replace the bearings any special tools that might make it easier ..
View 14 RepliesI have a 03 F-350 and I started getting a bad vibration in the front end and I can feel it in the dash when I hit 60 mph. It happen after the other week I took some back roads they were flooded pretty good and pretty much the whole under carriage of my truck got wet. It didn't start right after that but then about 20 miles later it started happening. I also get a chirping noise on my LF when I give it gas going over 30. I been checking my truck and the only thing I found wrong was the front different vent hose got ripped off but I fixed that. I read it could be a bad u-joint...
View 2 RepliesI'm having trouble finding the source of a vibration in the front end if my 1999 f350 super duty 4x4. The vibration is felt all the time but worse when under 40mph, while braking, and especially when turning.
I have replaced the rotors and brakes, tie rods and Drag links since the issue started but no change. In the vibration. What should I check next?
2000 F350. 4x4, V10. 153,xxx miles. Here's the story. Whenever I hit a little bump in the road, I get a vibration directly under my feet and in the gas pedal, NOT in the steering. It will go away pretty quick or when I hit another bump. It only happens when the front driveshaft is not spinning. Hubs locked in in 2WD, it doesn't vibrate. Hubs unlocked and in 4x4 High it doesn't vibrate.
View 8 RepliesOn my way to see my folks and I started feeling a vibration like driveshaft or wheel bearing between 45-55 mph then at about 75 then BOOM! Pulled over and found a pool of ATF thought my stock 4R100 just bit the dust but looking at it the fluid is coming from the front driveshaft at the Tcase. My hubs are unlocked and my ESOF is in 2HI but I assume my tcase was locked. Also since the tcase is probably screwed I'm goin to do the 271 with manual hub swap, how hard that is?
View 10 RepliesI've got a 02 SD v10 4x4 with Warn hubs and 97k. Bought it a couple months ago and I've noticed a vibration coming from the front driver side. Symptoms are that of a bad wheel bearing; vibration that increases with speed and not RPM, seems to lessen on left handed turns (weight transfers from driver side to passenger side) and gets worse on right turns. Also the truck seems very twitchy and hard to keep straight on the highway.
Snowed the other day so I locked in my warns (just in case) and I instantly noticed the noise and vibration almost went away entirely except for on the freeway around 70+ mph. Also noticed it seems less "Twitchy" on the freeway. Mind you the hubs are locked in but still in 2wd. After doing a little bit of reading some were saying this is a sign of bad needle bearings and not the entire hub.
I haven't jacked up the tire and checked typical movement in a bad wheel bearing. I know my way around vehicles and 4x4's pretty well...
I've got a 2003 350 7.3, with the zf6, approx 225000. I've been chasing a vibration that can be felt in the whole truck for quite a while. Feels like a wheel bearing danm near shot. But after replacing both wheel bearings and making over the whole front end it didn't go away. So I replaced the clutch and throw out bearing cause it was getting bad anyway. The vi ration is still there so I checked the harmonic balancer and it was bad so I replaced that. Still no dice. I know that it's coming from the trans, you can hear it in when jacked up and running in gear. Shifts fine in all gears. But the vibration/ clunking is there in all gears and it's getting bad. It feels like a bearing going out. Could it be input shaft bearing or pilot?
View 14 RepliesI have an '03 F250 Super Cab, 7.3L PSD, 4WD. I've started getting a large vibration between 40 and 60 mph. Started after driving on the PA highways towing a trailer with a car and hitting several deep pot holes.
I have had the wheels balanced, rotated, balanced a second time by a different shop and had them perform an alignment - Still No change.
The garage I took it to said the hubs were shot so I had them replaced - supposedly with Moog, lifetime warranty hubs. Still - No Change.
The tie rods and steering linkages are a year old, so unless something was damaged (visually, they look good, and feel tight) it probably isn't them.
I replaced the ball joints around 80,000 miles and now the truck has 155,000 miles. They appear to be ok, with maybe just a little movement in the Passenger side upper.
If there is any movement at all in the ball joint, will it cause a vibration?
I plan to rotate my full size spare through all 4 corners this weekend to eliminate the possibility of a bent rim.
I have another set of ball joints and seals on order which should arrive next week. Probably next weekend's project.
2002 Ford F250 4x4 Superduty Lariat (4 door). Just changed the locking hubs to a new set of Warn manuals. I began to periodically hear what sounds like a rumbling/bearingish/howling kinda sound. Happens when you hit a bump at any speed...then howls till you hit another bump..goes away..then process repeats. Come to a complete stop, and the sound usually goes away till you hit another bump. The hubs are "free" at this time.
Heres the weird thing...when the noise starts...I switch it into 4 wheel drive on the dash...the sound instantly goes away. Click it back outta 4 wheel drive (hubs are still unlocked this whole time) and the sound is gone. drive some more down the road, maybe hit a slight bump, and the sound returns. Switch it back into 4x4...sound instantly goes away. Its not really in 4 wheel drive, cause the hubs aren't locked in...but that cures it till I take it back out. What could be causing this howling ? Its getting worse, and you can feel a slight vibration in the floor now when its doing it.
2003 in sig. when going around corners slow I can feel and hear a chatter or vibration coming from what I think is the rear end. I am running amsoil 75/140 in it and added some friction modifier. Do my clutches are shot and making noise or do I need to add more friction modifier ?

View 3 RepliesI have a '03 F350 that I can't seem to solve the brakes vibrating when applied. Replaced front rotors a couple weeks ago. I still have a vibration when I apply the brakes. What am I missing? I didn't replace the back rotors, but maybe I should have. On the passenger front, the inside pad was almost gone and the outside pad was in good shape. I greased the pins before I replaced the pads the last time, but the inside still wore much faster. I also blew out the rear brake line last week and spent Saturday bending a new line and replacing that so the brakes were bled when I had to replace that. I don't feel the pulsing in the pedal, but the truck shakes pretty good when I hit the brakes. What else should I be checking if the rotors are new and the pads are new and the pins have been lubed and the brakes have been bled?
View 6 RepliesMy 2003 Ford F250 V10 seems to have a vibration, sometimes at all speeds and sometimes at freeway speeds. I replaced front hub assemblies and ball joints and rear calipers last year. When braking i have a vibration in rear as well, which I think is from uneven rotor but can it be causing my vibration? Also sometimes I can smell hot brakes from the rear.

No noises or clanking just vibration. I can wiggle the driveshaft inside the carrier bearing do you think that could be it or is it the rear end.
View 14 RepliesIm working on a 03 f-450 that has a front end vibration, it starts when you hit 25 mph and its a humming / vibration that seems more to the passenger side than the drivers side. You can also hear it decrease when you come down in speed and it dissappears below 25 mph. Its a 2003 F-450 CC 4x4 DRW with the v-10.

Driving home from work, came to a long stop waiting for train. Started to drive away and my front right brake started to lock up pretty good on me. Drove it home as I was only a couple blocks away. Its just started to get above freezing here, and we've been between 0-20 degrees for a good stretch lately. That being said, I'm pretty sure it's my brake lines swelling with our "heat wave" of 35 degrees today. Also I've replaced the rear rotors & pads, as well as flushed the brake system a while back. Never replaced the front after purchasing used a while back, as they still had plenty of pad left.
Question : Purchased new front lines. Do the front calibers, "float" on pins like the back? (If so that may be my issue of the caliber getting stuck on the pins moving back and forth.)
At 178,xxx miles I'm going to replace the lines myself regardless of this outcome.
