Every time I apply brakes I hear a weird humming noise, as well as no stopping power. Checked fluids and pads and everything is where it should be. I heard abs can cause this but not sure on that. I know my master cylinder has a very small leak but it hasn't lost any fluids of that sort. I'm lost. I don't know where else to look.
View 2 RepliesI just bought a 11 f350 powerstroke. CC lariat 4x4 with 70k miles. Whenever i turn off the truck abt 30-45 seconds later a humming starts and continues for abt 1 minute. Sounds like a pump or a release of air? Is this a normal function or should i have it checked out. I've searched around but found very mixed answers.
View 4 RepliesI just changed all the pads and rotors on my 08 F350. The brakes are much better now, only the rear brakes got quite hot after driving it for about 15 min. Turns out the rear parking brakes are dragging on the back brakes. I adjusted the parking brake on both sides so they no longer drag and the heat issue is gone. The problem now it the parking brake does not engage until the pedal runs out of travel. Any tips to get this just right? Will the parking brake self adjust like the old drum brakes and shoes use to do years ago?

I've noticed that when I insert the key in my 2013 F250 I hear a humming noise, if I pull the key out it goes away. What is this noise? It seems to do it as long as the key is in, but is quiet enough that you can only hear it when there isn't a lot of back round noise.
View 14 RepliesI recently switched back over to the 5.4 from a diesel. It's a 08 F350. I have about 38,000 on it now. I have no complaints so far, a little less power than the diesel, but I don't tow much anyways. The only thing I can't figure out is a strange noise at around 2500-3000 rpms shortly before a shift sometimes. The best way I can think to describe it is that it sounds like a turbo fart in a diesel. Almost like someone is putting their finger over an air hose on and off a couple times. It doesn't do it all the time, and doesn't shake the truck, or effect the shift at all from what I can tell.
I've put it through a lot of different shifts just to see if it might be transmission related. It downshifts and upshifts perfectly without any noise or slipping, and the fluid looks just as clean as brand new. No smell or anything either. It doesn't feel like torque converter shudder to me either as i can't actually feel anything in the truck, just the small noise. To me it almost sounds like it's coming from under the hood. I'm not overly worried about it right now, because it isn't effecting the way the truck drives or shifts at all, I'm just curious what it could be.
In forward drive or reverse, I hear a rotational noise that almost sounds like the bed creaking when you're getting it on. As I go faster the noise goes faster until drowned out by road and engine noise. The noise is unaffected by applying the brakes. I jacked the truck up and spun tires as fast as I could by hand and got no noise but when I lowered it back to ground and had the truck roll the noise was back. Noise is not affected by turning wheel.
View 13 Replies'08 F350 6.4l 4wd, I had the truck come in with a exploded transfer case. (See pics). Ive read all about this happening to many others. The truck still drove, hubs not locked, plenty of fluid in the TC, pretty sure it was the double Cardan that did it. Anyways I replaced thwith TC, replaced the front driveshaft, filled the TC with recommended fluid. Test drove and drives great, shifts fine. Only until I turned left.
At slow speeds turning hard or 15-20 taking a turn, it sounds like a ratchet clicking from somewhere on the left side, right around the drivers door, from what I can hear from the cab. Does it in 2wd, 4wd hi/low, hubs locked or not. I changed the vacuum pump, no leaks, changed the IWE solenoid, pulled out both locking mechanisms, tightened crossmember, checked everything from the hours of research I did on the internet. I cannot find the problem. I don't know what else to check. Front axles free spin and lock when they are supposed to. I'm at the end...
My AM radio has terrible reception. There is humming noise that goes away when I apply the brakes. I will bring it to the dealer, but I know what they will say, "cannot duplicate problem" or "radio operation found to be normal".
View 14 RepliesI just brought home an 04 F350. It is a V10, 6 speed, with 30,600 verified miles on it. It runs and drives fantastic, and that V10 is impressive! I am very impressed. I have noticed that the compressor cycles, even with the dial in the off position. Is this normal for the super duty, or is something amiss? If something is wrong, what direction do I look in?
View 13 RepliesGot a problem with my F350 diesel truck's braking system. I pull a 5th wheel and last trip almost burned my breaks up coming down long hill due to having no breaks on the 5th wheel. Had a problem early on with the lack of trailer brakes and module was replaced under warranty. Bought a new module this time and it did not fix the problem. Have braking power when I use the module brakes (Hand) but not when I hit the foot brakes. Have checked the system with a meter and have good voltage with hand break but not with foot brakes. Have a good meter (voltage) read with hand breaks and faint read with foot brakes applied. Also have a faint pulsing read on test light with no brakes at all just key on.
View 2 RepliesEvery time I connect the battery I get a clicking under the dash its non stop until I remove the battery cables. just when I remove the left passenger side battery. When I put in the key while its clicking and try to start its almost like I have no power the needle just drops down to nothing. The batteries have a full charge I pulled them off and charged over night also brought them in and had them tested. Seems like a serious short in the electrical but that clicking under the dash coming from fuse box scares me. I did pull all the relays and it still clicks.... doesn't sound good! 1999 F350...
View 5 RepliesOn my 2007 f350 when I hit my brakes it pulsates... So I put new rotors and brakes up front.. The pins are good and the calibers are good... put it all back together and still the same thing... the slower you go the slower the pulsating gets... And I can actually feel the pedal move in and out when it does it... I'm lost....
View 14 RepliesMy 2011 F350 is shaking like a wet dog, all the time, loaded with a trailer and empty. It's the whole truck, not just the front end or rear end. It'll shake a Dr Pepper flat in 10 mins. No one can figure out why. Maybe y'all can think of something.
Here's what we've done
New tires, balanced
Alignment
Replaced ball joints and sway bar
Replaced carrier bearing
Replaced passenger front hub that got mysteriously locked and henceforth destroyed.
Replaced all 4 shocks
Where to look next?? Guess I should mention is 4x4 dually with 177,803 miles.
I have a 2007 F350 XLT, Super Cab, chassis cab, V-10, 4x4. I ordered it new, it now has 97,000 miles. It is equipped with a 9' aluminum flatbed. I tow it behind my motorhome and also carry a truck camper (not when towing it!).
I don't think the front brakes are working 100%. I have 2 sets of wheels and tires (19.5s for hauling the camper). Every time I change over, I check the brake pads for wear. Over the first 80,000 miles there was very little wear on the rear pads. In 2014 I had almost a complete brake failure while traveling. I took it to a Ford dealer, and they determined the brake booster was bad. They replaced the booster and flushed the brake system. I didn't think the brakes felt right afterward, but I carried on. By 95,000 miles, the rear brakes were worn out. I feel like the rear brakes are doing most of the stopping now, thus wearing out much faster than they were.
I just ordered a set of service manuals for the truck (9.5 years late on that!) hoping to figure out something. I like the truck, it meets my needs, and I hope to keep it quite a while longer. I took it in to the local dealer to replace a leaking rear pinion seal. They found and replaced the worn pads. I trust them to the extent that the pads were worn, as I had already noticed an acceleration in wear. Local dealer that replaced the pads has no idea what could be up. They did clean and lube the front calipers at the same time, but I noticed no difference in brake feel. Stopping power is definitely worse than before the brake failure/ booster replacement.
What might cause this? The only things that come to my mind is a problem with the proportioning valve or maybe the master cylinder. I don't know much about the details of the ABS system. Is there anyway that might be causing the issue? I would rather not just start throwing parts at the problem...
We have a 1994 350 ford dually. the brake light and the abs light came on and it has no brakes. replaced the master cylinder ... still no brakes. what next?

View 14 RepliesI have a '03 F350 that I can't seem to solve the brakes vibrating when applied. Replaced front rotors a couple weeks ago. I still have a vibration when I apply the brakes. What am I missing? I didn't replace the back rotors, but maybe I should have. On the passenger front, the inside pad was almost gone and the outside pad was in good shape. I greased the pins before I replaced the pads the last time, but the inside still wore much faster. I also blew out the rear brake line last week and spent Saturday bending a new line and replacing that so the brakes were bled when I had to replace that. I don't feel the pulsing in the pedal, but the truck shakes pretty good when I hit the brakes. What else should I be checking if the rotors are new and the pads are new and the pins have been lubed and the brakes have been bled?
View 6 RepliesI just can't seem to make sense of, 2006 f350 6.0 once it's been running for a min or so it will die when brake is pressed, also dies when you turn the wheel. Can't find any rub through or bad wiring.if you up rpm slightly it will not die with brake or steering. Tried removing belt thinking it possibly was a pulp and it doesn't die with the brake or steering but will die when going from drive to park. Thinking possible cps....
View 13 RepliesI have a 2011 F350, with a 4 inch Rancho Suspension lift. Ever since the lift kit was installed, more commonly when turning to the left than right, the anti lock brakes come on and the traction control light comes on/flashes. without even stepping on brake pedal.
It seems to happen when the wheel is at about 80% of max turning, about 15mph. Both wheel hubs and sensors have been replaced. road tested with Ford tech , he watched the speed sensor input while hooked to the computer and all sensor are reading correctly.
Today I went in a constant circle and can make it do it non stop, and when you try to press the brake pedal while the anti-lock (grinding/chattering) noise is happening, it only gets louder.
2002 5.4L... I have a humming noise that comes from my engine and wanted to see if any of yall knew anything about it. I sounds like it's on the other side on the driver side firewall near the brake booster. Once the engine runs for a bit it tends to start then. It'll start to hum then ill tap the gas to get the RPMs up a bit then its gone for couple miles then its right back on.
