I have a 14 f350, 6.2... Takes a few seconds to go into gear when cold, trans is fine otherwise, and I don't want to waste the dealers time if this is the way these things are:
When its warm and I put it in drive it goes right in .. .
When cold and only sometimes, it takes up to three seconds to go in gear .. .
It has 7000 miles on it .. .
Got the truck 2 months ago and it only happened 3 times; always on a cold engine.
2 times were on my street at low speed just out of my driveway. It's like the engine shuts down for a while and maybe downshifts too. Feels like someone is stepping on the brakes for a second and then all is back to normal.
Last time I was getting out of a restaurant and accelerating hard to get up to speed on a 70km/h road. The downshift happened while I was going almost 70 but still in low speed so the braking effect was severe enough to throw me forward. Once again everything was fine the next second.
I'm not sure if it's the transmission downshifting or the engine cutting; maybe even the ABS kicking in for some reason. It happens too fast and too rarely to be sure. My feeling from what I remember is that the truck is downshifting and I'm feeling the braking effects from compression. 6.2 engine.
Today I ran into a person I use to work with and was informed he had bought almost the same truck as mine. He also informed me that his has spent most of the winter in the shop. Reason being he claimed the transmission had a sensor that malfunctioned when it's cold out. This sensor lets the truck turn over but it blocks the truck from starting. Now it has got to 10 below zero only once this winter so far, my truck is kept outside, no problem yet.
View 3 Replies2014 F250 automatic- 35k miles... just started having an issue. Noticed when the transmission is cold, the shift from 2nd to 3rd is almost delayed. It's enough of a pause you can feel it then it shifts. Weird thing is it only does for the first 3 stop signs leaving my house. Once the trans starts getting some temperature to it, it shifts perfect. I checked the fluid while hot and it showed a little low. I drove it after adding fluid but will have to wait till it's cold to see if it's any better... Think it was the fluid? But why just 2nd to 3rd gear only?
View 3 RepliesI have a 2000 ford f350 7.3l with a auto transmission(4r100) and I have had problems with it . It started a while back when the transmission is cold like in the morning when I put it in drive it acts like when you don't push the cluch in on a standard when coming to a stop kind like it's bucking and this only happens when it's cold when it's nice and warmed it's fine so I changed the whole transmission and put a billet torque converter and I'm still having the same problem can it be a sensor or something electrical ?
View 14 RepliesNew to me truck has 80k on it, it's leaking at the bell housing. Pulled the inspection plate and it's definitely red stinky automatic transmission fluid. Back of the torque converter is clean.
Ford warranty has run out, however I do have an aftermarket warranty on the truck. Trans temp isn't above normal or running hot.
I'm a very mechanically inclined engineer, I do not work on cars for a living, but I have replaced an input shaft seal on a 4wd transmission before. That's my best guess as to what's leaking. Is this a common issue?
I have a 2011 super duty with the 6.2 flex. When shifting into reverse, it hesitates, then slams into reverse. Same on the lower gears when driving. This doesn't occur all the time, but the majority. Been talking to a couple other super duty owners (diesel owners) who have been having the same prob, but not as severe. We all have noticed the prob after having charcoal filter replaced. Is this a tranny issue or computer issue?
View 3 RepliesI have recently purchased an 04 F250 crew cab with the 6.0 power stroke, it has a cold air intake, 4inch exhaust from the turbo back and has a program in it but programmer didn't come with the truck. When I sit at a traffic light and go to leave on a green light the truck kind of hesitates or acts like it's missing out( maybe loading up) shoots out black smoke then runs fine, it doesn't do it at all the stop lights but does get irritating. If I get it flashed back to stock settings will the truck run normal with all the upgrades?

When moving slowly such as turning a corner and I have to let up on the accelerator momentarily, when I press down again there is nothing for an unsettling period of time, maybe 2 seconds, as though the engine died, but it didn't and it always comes back. Is there a firmware programming update for this?
View 3 RepliesI can't seem to get the engine temp to middle range on the marker, but yet my heater blows "to me" hot air. Even while sitting in idle for extended amounts of time I cannot get it to "operating" temperature. I would think if my thermostat was stuck open my heater would blow either cold or slightly warm air. I have the 5.4L engine with knn air filter and no cats.
View 14 RepliesI'm having a problem with starting the V10 in my 99 E350 cube van. It refuses to start when cold unless I stick my finger in the idle air control valve and force it shut, or use starting fluid, or a combination of both. Once I do get it started, it will die if I touch the throttle, but once warmed up, it runs fine. I have replaced the IAC, the cylinder head temperature sensor, the fuel filter and fuel pump, and cleaned the MAF. My code reader shows no codes, and like I say once warmed up it will run fine and restart no problem.
View 1 RepliesSo my 2010 has been bulletproof thus far. Now the last few weeks I've been working on a new property and using 4x4 a lot and driving in deep/wet grass.
This noise happens only when cold and only at low rpm. In/out of gear moving stopped doesn't matter. Tried to take it to dealer and it was warmed up by then and not doing it! So ill take em this video and leave the truck there for a couple hours and see if they can duplicate it.
Any guesses what this is? [URL] ..... And why I've been distracted off my truck!

View 2 RepliesMy 99 f450 7.3 runs bad on first start of day. I checked the codes 3 codes p0475, p0470 and p1247. Now here is what I tried I plugged it in over night and it will start and run as should the next morning with out side temp 47. Drove the truck late yesterday evening didn't plug up tried it this morning with a outside temp of 47 truck starts but missing and like of power. My problem seems to be temp related. Will low boost pressure cause this problem what do I need to do?

AC will blow cold, then shift to blowing warm, muggy air, then back to cold. Seems to be some relationship with throttle movement. Cruising steady ac seems normal. Multiple throttle shifts in changing traffic seems to trigger the warm air. Once accelerate back to normal cruise, can feel clutch/compressor shift and blows cold again.
Any ideas? I have read a possible cause can be the ac clutch can wear and need to remove spacers? Is this a DIY job? What about the ac clutch relay switch? On reading an online repair manual, seems that the clutch is magnetic, and if no battery power to clutch, it removes itself from compressor?
Just had an EGR delete kit installed. Any relationship to this and ac problem?
My tuck has been making a whining noise very similar to this and only when it's below freezing out. At 5 degrees it's even louder. Just noticed it the other day. Sounds like power steering whine. I have the 6.2 super duty.

View 12 Replies I have a 2014 ford F350. Was flood damaged, all fixed and running great except a couple of small problems.
Was trying to solve a mykey problem with volume being restricted to 49% and IDS said it had found new PCM and TCM software and should it update.
Me being a dork, (forgetting that the truck is not stock has EGR delete and other stuff that I'm not even sure of) said 'sure go ahead!!'
As soon as it was reflashed, it came up with errors
ENGINE IDLE SPEED
EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION ERROR
REDUCED POWER
did some googling and it seems (possibly) that when the truck was modified, the PCM was reflashed. When I upgraded the PCM I screwed it up as it set it back to original factory settings.
Do I need to buy an SCT tuner? Is there any way in IDS to disable EGR (I have a clone and I cannot find it). Am I best to take it to a shop that know what they are doing and have the reprogram the PCM.
quick question about tranny Temps. My truck is a 16 F250 CCSB 4x4 6.2. I just moved to North Carolina from Florida. It is 100+ degrees every day and my transmission maintains a range from 196 to 203. I know that is perfectly normal.
We were driving around NC yesterday (unloaded) and the Temps outside were in the high 60's. We were in the truck for a total of 2 hours so everything was up to temp. My transmission was ranging from 190-199. I thought the transmission thermostat keeps the tranny at least 196.
So my question for the cooler weather guys...is it normal for your tranny to get as low as 190 during normal operating temps?
I am not positive where it could be but I have a good bit of oil on the transmission (i think) i was trying to replace the strarter and noticed it. Where the possible leak could be from? No oil on the ground under the truck.
View 3 RepliesI think the truck needs a recharge, it's not blowing any cold air. The question is - which port do I use? There's one on the top of the accumulator and another in the line just off the passenger side of the radiator, near the coolant tank.
My only recharge experience was after I replaced a leaking accumulator in my 2007 Crown Vic police interceptor, and this obviously doesn't look quite the same.
