Ok my dome light flashes and I get a chime first three times then one and it repeats. No other error messages or codes. What causes this?
View 6 RepliesI have a 99 ext cab with a 7.3. My dome and cargo lights only come on when I use the key fob to unlock the doors or when I first shut the truck off. They do not work with the dash switch or when a door opens while the truck is on. Also the doors will lock automatically when I turn the key on even when open, which it has not done before. I don't think the door switches are bad because the door ajar light only comes on when one of the doors are open and it goes off when the doors close. Here is what I have done so far. Sprayed doors with wd-40, Checked all fuses including #14. put a new relay in spot #1 in the fuse box. I am thinking either the gem or the vsm, but I'm not sure how to check either one of those or which one would be controlling that particular function.
View 1 RepliesThe dome light in my F250 workd finr unless you enter thru the pass side door it will not come on. Where is the door dome light switch located and is it hard to change? Best place to get a new one it thats the problem.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2001 250 Super Duty. I am having an intermittent issue with the electrical system and transmission. I don't drive this vehicle very much so it sits for 7-14 days at a time.
Previously I had the od light flashing and had the transmission solenoid replaced. A few weeks ago I decided to drive it to the corner store. As I arrive home the od light starts flashing and the transmission starts shifting funny. I pull into my parking spot and turn the truck off. I sensed the shut off was weird so I tried to start the truck. NO POWER! None! I go back to the truck a few days later and it starts up without an issue.
Approx. 20 miles later it starts again. This time I have to jump the battery. I ran the truck and it drove without issue. Again a couple weeks later it starts in again with the light flashing and electrical dying. What it may be? I'm probably going to get rid of the truck as I can;t justify to myself to keep dumping money into it.
Dome light (and bed light) won't shut off. Been browsing the forums for similar problems but most of the time it is the door switch issue. I have my doubts about this since the 'Door Ajar' message in the instrument cluster is not brought up, unless a door is actually open. Similarly, when locking the truck and doing a door check, I get only one beep, means all doors are shut. 2005 Ford F-250 Lariat....
View 3 RepliesMy Dome lights don't work when you open the door. I can manually turn them on though. Also door ajar light is on. Are these issues caused by the door latch switch? Also have no fog lights I replaced the switch and bulbs. I have a 2003 F250.....
View 2 RepliesMy 2002 f350 diesel recently started acting up, the first sign was when my park brake light came on and the chime came on. I mucked around with a few things but still wont go away, while I was doing this a buddy noticed i had no brake lights at all and under further inspection no signals either, not even the clicking noise you usually hear also the cruise control has stopped working as well as the little screen mounted to the roof near the rear view mirror. I am fairly clueless with electrics (I don't even own a multi meter) but i do want to figure this out, i have noticed that fuse 20 was burnt and after replacing it it pops pretty much right when i push my foot on the breaks or signal.

Recently its been off and on everyday plus I noticed a roughness just rolling along. no change under power. My first thought is wheel bearing. No change while turning just a small hum and a tiny vibration. The trucks got 306k now.
View 5 RepliesI would like to add an LED light to each running board and tie it in with the dome light wiring so that when the door(s) are opened it will come on with the dome light and light up the factory running board. Any info on where a good place to splice into the wiring, and will the wiring be able to handle a couple extra lights?
The truck is a 2012 F-350 XL, SD Dually....
The dome light/under hood light keeps blowing the fuse. I can't tear the entire interior out to try and chase down the short. Just wondering if any common area this circuit shorts out!
View 4 RepliesWhen I purchased my truck 1999 F350 about 5 years ago, I was told it was on its third transmission since the awesome 7.3 diesel engine has 200,000 miles on it. At first I noticed that going up a hill with the truck empty would cause the tranny temp gauge to climb to 250 degrees F. Nowadays when I tow my boat or carry my camper, the temp gauge pegs over 250 and the overdrive light flashes steadily when I do any hill climbs. I have had the fluid flushed several times, and I have a large fan powered oil cooler too. I also recently noticed that the tranny heated up when the truck is just idling in place.
I just got back from burning man and during the 800 mile round trip the overdrive light started flashing at least 6 times and the temp gauge read over 210 the whole time, with it pegging over 250 during hill climbs. No fluid boiled out but I am very concerned that damage is being done.
Is it possible there is a clog in a line somehwere restricting the flow of oil? Or should I replace the tranny?
My remote start just decided to stop working. I did notice 3 days ago the horn beeped a few times when I started it with the key. Since then if I try to start it I get 6 beeps when it should have started. and the red light flashes twice continuously.
View 5 RepliesI just bought a 2006 F250 Lariat. The previous owner did not have a manual for the vehicle. When I open a door the dome light does not come on. Is it supposed to come on in that vehicle? The exterior light above the rear window that illuminates the bed of the truck does come on when a door is opened so it makes me think that there is a wiring issue with the dome light. I can light the dome lamps with the switches on the lamp housing so I know that it is working and the bulbs are good.

Most of the time, the dome light operates as usual- close the door and the light stays on for a bit before shutting off. But about a quarter of the time, the light goes off immediately after the door is shut. It's done this the entire time I've owned the truck (about 2-1/2 years). Why?
View 1 RepliesI have two 2004 F350s. In both of them, the dome light stays on for roughly 10 seconds after I shut the door, and also comes on when I shut off the engine. I HATE this feature! Is there any way to disable this? All I want is the light to come on when I open the door and go off when I shut it. Nothing else.
I read something about some computer setting on this for police vehicles, but I'm not sure if or how that applies to my 2004.
I have a 2003 Ford F-450 with the 7.3 Powerstroke. The problem I am having is the dome light stays on, the map lights will not turn on, I have no door ding with the key in the ignition, and the radio wont turn on. If I press the clock button on the radio the clock comes on but the radio will not come on when I press the power button. What it may be? I already hosed the door latches with lubricant and that changed nothing. I checked all the fuses they are good.
View 2 RepliesToday I purchased a 2002 f250 GAS super duty 5.4. The first thing I've noticed wrong is: The driver door doesn't lock with the remote control but the passenger door does. I also noticed: when I shut the driver door, the dome light comes on and stays on but when i open the driver door, it shuts off (as if something's reversed). Do you think these two situations are related, and how can I fix it?

Earlier I change passenger side power mirror and same time i release door jamb electric switch to check it but still no light when connector was released...
Ok so long story short, my Viper 2 way alarm, instead of the brain being wired to each of the 4 doors individually, the installer ran 1 wire to the dome light. seems to work fine as far as arming/disarming/locking/unlocking, but since the dome light stays on for 10 seconds or whatever after the door is shut.
When I arm it, the 2 way remote says "door open" because the light is still on so it thinks a door is open. this eventually times out and all the sensors arm, but theres a long delay. it arms fine and no alerts pop up if i lock the doors first from the outside keypad on the door, making the lights go off, then hit arm on the viper, and everything is good to go.
can i change it so no matter what, as SOON as i shut the door, the light goes off? i want there to be NO delay, if possible. if not, i may need to just have the installer run a wire to each door and take the single run to the dome light off, as it is sorta annoying to me.
I'm having trouble with my '99 F-350 7.3L 4X4. One day, my power windows, cruise, dome light, horn, wipers, and 4 wheel drive stopped working. After checking all of the fuses, I have found no bad ones.
