Ford Transmission :: 1986 - Possible Gear Swap 4.10?

My 1986 F150 in my signature has new 33" tires, up from the old 31" tires, and the even older 28" or whatever the stock size was. Needless to say, it feels pretty sluggish lately. First, I want to change the gears to get the engine back into a favorable RPM area while cruising. I used a calc and figured 4.10 gears would get me back to where it was with the 3.55 gears and stock tires.

There are several different spline counts and carriers and all that stuff. I need selecting replacement gears that will work, and first off, knowing if my carrier will even accept them. It has the stock Dana 44 front and 8.8 open rear...

I have a 3 spee Od out of a 1985 F-150 2wd . I was wanting to put it behind a Onan 6AT diesel . The engine came out of a P-350 bread truck . I runs great . I was wanting to know what the gear ratios are on the transmission . The engine has about 135 ftlbs of torque . The tranny was behind a 300 6 cyl . Iam trying to find out if this tranny will work or will I have to go to a N<!-- -->WC or TKO 5 speed .

Ford Transmission :: 1986 -1st Gear Grind Whilst Shifting

I have a 1986 Ford Bronco straight six 300 4 speed manual NP 435

She grinded a bit when shifting from a stand still but nothing terrible for an old rig but leaked oil bad from the rear main seal so I took out the tranny/t case to put in new clutch, throw out bearing, pilot bearing, and rear main seal. When I put it all back together shifting into 1st would grind like CRAZY. So would reverse but not near as bad. So I took it all back apart inspected everything even torqued the clutch to specification. Put it back together and same result. So I replaced the slave/master cylinder thinking the clutch wasn't pushing enough bench bled it and still no luck.

Ford Ranger / B-Series :: 1986 - Transmission Overhaul - Hard To Get Clutch Into Gear From Neutral

Rebuild on the Mazda 5 speed transmission. My 1986 Ranger 2.3 Four cylinder has 280,000 miles and the clutch has never been replaced. It's not slipping but I'm having trouble getting it into gear from neutral. Was told that the release springs on the clutch plate have weakened causing the clutch to not release completely so figured it's time to replace it. It's done well the last 280,000 miles. The question I have : overhauling on one of these Mazda trans and how difficult was it. Any special tools required, etc...I see Autozone has a rebuild kit which appears to have bearings, seals and gaskets. Figured while it was out I would go ahead and rebuild it myself if I can. Rebuilt a few engines but never touched a trans.

Will an 05-07 5r110w transmission work in a 2003 truck? Some sites show same part number for each and some show different part numbers. I know the gear ratios are slightly different and that there is some other internal changes made to the 5r110w.

Ford Transmission :: 1986 351w C6 Making Noise When Hot

I have a 1986 351w with a C6 sitting in my 55 F100. Its a project in progress, rebuilt 351 etc. Have not really driven the truck except for around the block a couple times, still work to be done however I do start it on a regular basis. Recently after the motor gets to operating temp around 190 or so the transmission start screaming, sounds like belts slipping or bearings. I first thought it was the water pump and replaced it last week, started it up today and same issue. No noticeable noise until she warms up, then sounds bad. How many miles on the tranny, over 100k I suspect. To rule out slipping belts and pulleys etc, I removed all the belts and same noise. I did notice after installing the trans and driving it around the block, that it shifts really hard into drive and reverse but the trans has not been used in probably 8 years or so. I've not drove the truck since it's started making this noise. I have the column out, but should have it back in tomorrow and may take it for a quick run around the block to see if noise gets worse.

Ford Transmission :: Swapping A 1990 E4OD Into 1986 6.9 F350?

I'm swapping a 90 E4OD into my 86 6.9 F350 and find my injector pump won't take the usual throttle sensor. I'm wondering whether the controller (from a 90 E350) cares about intermediate throttle settings or is it only worried about coast vs wide open.

My options appear to be rigging some sort of linear travel pot, or would limit switches with something cobbled together to give two resistances be enough?

I have a 2001 Ford Excursion with the 5.4 and auto trans. I don't know for sure what specific tranny is in it but I do know what I want to do. I really like the pistol grip style shifters that a 2004 ish F-150 has and I wanted to make that conversion in my Excursion. Is it possible? Are the trannys the same to where I can switch out the gear selectors? And also how would I even do it?

Ford Excursion :: Vibration After Gear Swap Coming From The Front

Brought the truck home the other night after having the 4:88's and locker installed. At about 65mph plus I have a severe vibration that sounds like it's coming from the front. It's bad enough I can feel it in the floorboards.

After some research I'm thinking the drive shafts need to be balanced due to the increased speed they are now running at. The u joints are good and I trust the installer did a good job putting the gears in.

Factory gears were 3:73's. 7" of lift on 37's. Any other parts other than the drive shafts?

In Drive the engine revs but wont accelerate more than 25mph. D1, D2, and reverse work as usual. Fluid is dark, but no debris, no burnt smell. Should I change the fluid & filter? The shop said that would make it worse.

Lets say I want to do rear axle swap, how I would go about this? Would I have to do anything to my tranny or transfer case? and all in all would it be worth it if I am looking for more speed out of my 460? the fastest I can go for an extended period of time is about 55 if i go above that for to longit wears on the gears and overheats the rear end. It has slow acceleration, and I am sure the low slow gears put out a lot of power, but they drink gas. And even though I am good at driving stick, its hard to take off because there's only about two inches of clutch travel that i have to take off, its not the clutch, its the gears.

Ford Transmission :: 1992 F150 2WD - E4OD To 4R70W Swap

Situation is I have a 92 F150 2WD donor truck. 5.8l will be going into my 80 F150 4X4. E4OD transmission is long gone, but I do have a 4R70W from a 96 Explorer. Bolting it together is no problem, but there are differences in the transmission controls. E4OD uses a coast clutch, 4R70W does not. EPC, shift solenoids and TCC are compatible. I do not want to use a 5.0l PCM or add external controllers like the Baumannator.

Question is, can I control the 4R70W with the PCM that comes with the 5.8l?

I'm thinking I can ignore the coast clutch output, maybe tie it to +12 through a resistor if that makes the PCM happy. Baumann's controller appears to work with E4OD's as well as 4R70w's doing exactly this. Baumannator TCS Electronic Transmission Wiring Details....

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Stuck In 3rd Gear After Trans Swap With 10 Codes

Bought truck for cheaper price with no 3rd gear. Went to a reputable yard and picked up a cheaper trans... It was carfaxed with 185K miles and in a rollover. (This is the last time I try to save a couple bucks by getting a cheaper transmission.)

I believe trans is stuck in 3rd gear...Takes off slow. RPMs do not drop..Doesn't shift...Feels like I'm in 3rd from takeoff. Here are the codes:

P2262: Turbo / Super Charger Boost Pressure Not Detected Mechanical

P2614: Camshaft position signal output circuit / open

P2262 again

P1000 On board diagnostics II Monitor / drive cycle test not complete

P0678 Cylinder 8 glow plug circuit
