GMC - Sierra :: 1999 - Gear Selection Lever Hard To Move

I have a 99' GMC 1500 Sierra SLT w/5.3 Vortec V-8 w/460,000 miles (yup !!) I bought the p/u w/59,000 miles, and the gear-selection lever on the column has always been hard to move when selecting gears. My daughter drives the p/u, and is hard for her to select gears.

Lincoln - Towncar :: 2001 - Intermittent Vibration When Move The Gear Shift Lever To D For Drive

I have a 2001 Lincoln Town Car that has an intermittent vibration that can be felt when seating in the car and you move the gear shift lever to D for drive. The car has 141,000 miles. It is an automatic transmission. The vibration cannot be felt when touching the steering wheel. What could be causing the vibration?

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Shifter / Gear Select Hard To Move

Got in to go to work this am, and the gear shifter was difficult to move. What to check?

I drove 70 miles to work and didn't seem like any issues with the transmission shifting.

Got in to go to lunch and it seems even more difficult to move...

Shifting back and forth in the selector seems to loosen things up a little.

A friend move the selector while I looked at the linkage and the bracket that support the cable is flexing while shifting between gears....More likely a transmission issue or something with the linkage?

Passat (B6) :: Gear Selection Not Visible?

On my wolfsburg i noticed that the temperature it set in the middle of my MFD where on my old 2007 passat wagon it was on the right of the MFD and the temp was on the left? Is this the way it is on the wolfsburg?

GMC - Sierra :: 1997 Won't Go Into Park / Lever On Trans Stops At Neutral

My 1997 3500 shifts down normally through all gears but when I put it into park the lever on the trans stops at neutral I can then click the lever forward to rev.and park.

Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: Gear Shifter Very Hard To Move And Doesn't Really Go In Park?

This morning as I get in to drive my kid to school (2005 2.7 2 wd auto) as I go to put it in reverse I noticeably have to pull it with some force. I have never had to "force it" before, it had always switched gears with ease. This time it felt very stiff but had no issues going into gear. After I dropped my son off at school I went through the gears up and down and it felt very stiff (at this point i have no issues with starting it or P).

At lunch I go out to get something to eat and when I go to start it up it won't start. I try and try and nothing. All the lights came on, it's not a battery issue at all (brand new). But after 10 tries it starts, so I'm pretty happy. Then I go to put it in gear (reverse) I can not press in the button on the side of the gear shift. It will not go in. I press with all my might and it wont budge. But again, after about 10 good tries at it goes in and I can then select my gear but still feels very stiff.

After stopping again I didn't shut off the engine and dicked around with the shifter basically figured out that my car is not recognizing Park. On the instrument panel each gear lights up but not P. It gets very stiff when trying to put it in P but it doesn't actually go into P. If I put it in P (or really the further up it will go) and shut off the car, it won't start again. I can start it up in N and only N.

Ford Transmission :: 1997 E350 - Hard To Move Gear Selector

I am just about committed to purchasing a 1997 Ford E350 extended cargo van with the 5.4. The transmission shifts through all the gears nice and firm (reverse also works). The only issue with the van is the column selector lever is very hard to move between the entire range of PRND21. It also does not "click" into the selected positions, you have to just line up the pointer to the desired gear selection.

Is this a complete deal breaker (internal transmission issue/replacement necessary) or, is it something relatively simple (such as a worn selector cable). The owner did admit the van has been sitting for sometime. It has 134,000 miles on it.

Subaru - Impreza :: 2001 - Hard To Get Into Gear And It Would Not Move In Reverse / Neutral Or Drive

I had a problem with the CV Axle and the Wheel Bearings. I replaced them already and I ran into another issue with the Wheel Studs and the Ball Joint, so I ended up replacing them as well. Yesterday I put everything back together after replacing all the parts mentioned before and I made sure everything was bolted down and tightened, and then the tire back on and lowered the jack. I started up my car expecting it to drive just fine and it was harder to get into gear than before and it wouldn't move in reverse, neutral, or drive. I called a Monroe Muffler around here and they told me that the CV Joint is probably not seated all the way inside the Transfer Case.

So later the same day I took everything back apart and made sure that I put the CV Joint back into the Transfer Case and I put the pin back in and made sure that both CV Axles would turn at the same time, which they did. I figured it was good so I put it all back together again and went through the same process as before, making sure everything was tightened down, all the bolts and nuts and pins were where they needed to be. Everything seemed to be good. I put the tire back on again, lowered the jack, started the car and attempted to drive it again. It still won't move. Why this is happening.

Hyundai - Elantra :: 2005 - Rally Hard To Move Gear Shift When Put Car Into Reverse

I have a 2005 Hyundai Elantra with approx 155,000 miles on it(I don't know if that matters). The car started ok at first. When I put it into reverse, I noticed that it was really hard to move the gear shift(which it's normally really easy). I put it back in park and let it sit for a minute thinking it just had to warm up a bit more.

When I tried it again, it was still hard to shift, but this time when it got into gear I heard a loud clunk. This scared me, so I put it back in park and turned off the car. Now it won't start. All of my lights(headlights, dashboard lights, radio) come on, but the engine won't turn over.

I don't know if any of the following is relevant but I'm putting it out here anyway just in case it is: The battery is only a year old(and since all my lights came on, I don't think it's dead)I had an oil change on Saturday. The belts were replaced a few months ago. My check engine light is on because of an O2 sensor.

Sierra :: 1999 V6 - Hard Time Starting When Hot / Engine Idles Very High

My high mileage V6 1999 Sierra starts fine and runs great in the morning or when it is cold. As soon a you try to restart hot is spins fast enough, but has a very hard time starting. When it does start, there is smoke from the gas and the engine idles very high for about 10 minutes before settling down. Same thing reoccurs over and over when the engine is hot. May idle up to 2500 rpm, cant kick it off.

Tiguan :: Won't Start - Move Lever To P/N Message

Can't start my Tiguan this morning. Getting the message "Move lever to P/N". The lever IS in park - moving to neutral doesn't work either.

Last night the girlfriend turned off the car while it was still in gear (she's used to manual). I've done that before though and never had any issues. You can't actually remove the key until it's in park anyway.

However now the computer seems to be stuck on the idea that the vehicle is still in gear. Not sure what to do. Guess I'm going to just keep trying it through out the day and hope it ends up correcting itself. I'll just work from home today/tomorrow. But I'm eventually going to have to get it towed to the VW dealership.

Sierra :: 2006 GMC 1500hd - No Reverse / Won't Move?

I have a 2006 gmc 1500hd with the 6.0l the tranny went on it so we replaced it with a brand new one that was installed by a dealer, well it works fine except when you go out in the morning and go to back out of the driveway it wont move but if i put it in park and let it warm up for 10 min and try again it works fine we have had it back at the dealer to have it looked at and they said its fine so i took it somewhere else and they said its fine. ive changed the tranny filter and fluid spent about a grand having it looked at and cant figure it out

Phaeton :: Error Message - Move Selector Lever To Position P/N

I am Having a problem on my 2005 Phaeton which has a 3.2 engine. Last time I drove it was yesterday and had no problems. This morning, I'd turn the key and it give me various error message."Move selector lever to position P/N" ...

I tried to move it but with no luck , the message is still there and I also noticed that the light on the shift that indicates that I need to press on the break to start is not glowing. This is not the 1st time I had this error but before I had to leave it for a while and it will start ...

I really love my Phaeton and it has only 75,774 kilometres on , so it is quite new ...

Elantra MD (2010-15) :: Shift Lever Unable To Move From P And D Position

I have 2013 elentra just about a year old, (Took delivery june/2012). Recently some thing happen on the Shift lever, can't shift to "R" for back in parking, Shift to "N" is OK.

Some time it can't shift out from PARK to "R" or "N" or "D" ... Under any of this situation,car engine would not start.

Sound like the SHIFT LOCK did not release properly, or the Brake paddle position switch input did not send to Computer for engine Start.

Phaeton :: Move Selector Lever To Position P - Key Stuck In Ignition

I have a European Phaeton 3.2 litre V6 (gasoline) from 2003 that is giving me some problems. When I am finished driving I put the gear lever to parking position and turn off the ignition. I then get a message "Move selector lever to position p" and the key is stuck in the ignition.

So far, I have been able to get the error message away (and with that also been able to get the key out) by starting the car and move the gear lever around. Some times I have managed by only starting the system (by not holding my foot on the brake pedal). But tonight I couldn't get it fixed after numerous tries. I then simply waited in the car, because I didn't really know what to do, and after maybe five minutes the system shut down (energy saving mode?) and I could finally get the key out.

When I tried google the error message I found some topics about it on the Touareg forums, but they got the error message while driving and it had to do with the keyless system (which my car doesn't have).

What might be causing this problem? My local VW dealer is not very used to Phaetons (I am the only on in my town with one).

Camry :: 2011 - Shift Lever Harder To Move Than Normal And Would Not Go Into Drive

I had something unusual happen recently... I backed out the driveway and went to put the car in drive and found the shift lever harder to move than normal and it wouldn't go into drive. It would go into park and reverse easily enough. After some manipulation it went into drive and ran with no problems to my destination. At first, I thought something fell down into the mechanism and was causing it to bind. AND of course, when I showed it to a pal, I could not recreate the issue. The next morning it worked fine, but it happened again later in the day, but it took much longer to get it into drive.

On the way home, the check engine and traction control lights both came on. I dropped it off at my mechanics and he diagnosed error code C1201 P0705 and claims that the remote starter (shop installed after market) is interfering with the transmission control module. I contacted the installer of the starter and he says it is not possible, but I know something is wrong... Now, I can't get it to act up and the idiot lights are gone. I need to rely on my vehicle and can't afford to be stranded somewhere. I feel it would be pointless to take the car to the installer, since the warning lights are gone and there are no shifting issues now.

Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Manual Transfer Case Lever Will Not Move At All

I intended to purchase a 1997 F150 4x4 today and found that the manual transfer case lever will not move at all. I have read the manual and it seems simple to move from 2H to 4H (at stop of up to 55mph). No movement in the lever at all. Owner said he never uses it and has no idea what is wrong.

I think the gear shift lever is loose and so I get a no start every day or two. I remembered seeing somewhere here that there was a way to tighten up the grearshift lever to fix this problem. I did a search to no avail.

Sierra :: 2008 GMC - Passenger Side Power Mirror Won't Move Up And Down

My passenger side power mirror won't move up and down anymore. It started out just moving very slow, now no moving. Side to side works fine, power folding is fine also. Does the up/down motor is replaceable or do I have to replace the whole mirror.

I have a 1999 F-250 V10, I went to get into my truck to go to Lowes and only to learn I forgot my wallet. Here is where my problem lye. I came back home and decided to wait until the next morning to go back to Lowes, so I go to get in my truck cranked it up and went to put in reverse and it didn't move. It is like it is in neutral; so I went and put it in drive and still, it would not move. It is like it is in neutral. I can not figure out what is going on with my truck.
