Got an 04 GLI and I have the infamous hazard clicking sound. I replaced the hazard and it's still clicking, even worse than before. I'm going to spray some contact cleaner on the plug to see if that might fix it.
View 2 RepliesI've got a clicking in my car right now, it's not a constant noise, but only after I've been driving awhile without using my brakes. Slowly gets louder and louder. Goes away completely when I put my brakes on for a second and starts again when I let off of the brakes. Its speed related, so its quicker when I'm going faster.

View 3 RepliesI installed a Eurojet "Street" FMIC on my 2004.5 GLI a few weeks ago and ever since there has been a constant air hissing noise coming into the cabin. The noise has proven to be tricky to diagnose. It is loudest inside of the cabin and isn't audible under the hood. I boost leak tested the system and didn't find any obvious leaks. The sound doesn't appear to be boost related.
I don't seem to be loosing performance. (I've read a 2-3 psi drop is normal after FMIC install) The sound is constant and is faintly detectable even at idle inside the cabin. The sound's volume is dependent on the RPM's the engine is turning. The sound is constant whether the engine is on boost or vacuum. I can't explain this. My car isn't throwing any CEL's at all.
My mods are Revo Stage 2, 4 Bar FPR, 42dd TBE, Hyperboost DV, FMIC.
I started noticing the noise about a week ago, When i seem to let of the gas or even once in a wail push on the gas Hear a "CLICK" noise, this is not when pressing the brakes at all only when letting off pedal?
I am thinking it could be transmission, but have read it could be a few thing, From the brake pads to CV joint to trow out bearing, Axles, Lightened flywheel, Motor mounts, etc. But i am unsure where to start, Its and O2M 6spd tranny in my 20th, with lsd installed, lightened flywheel, VFmotormounts...
So I had the cv joints and boots replaced last year. When I turn at low speeds I get a clicking and some road noise, when I turn at higher speeds I get a lot of road noise. I feel like its a combination of strut mounts and wheel bearings?

View 12 RepliesI've just started noticing a "clicking/ grinding/ creaking" when I turn my wheel. It makes the noise if I'm parked, or driving slowly. I can feel it in the steering wheel, and hear it in the cabin, but can't hear anything when I'm under the car.
It sounds like 'two pieces of rubber binding on each other', is the best I can describe it. I THINK its coming from the driver's side. I've considered: strut mounts shifting, CV joints, something in the steering column, Tie rods, power steering pump...
Everything is tight on the wheel when I try to move it by hand (on jacks), and no rips/ tears in any boots.
When driving my car, my oem shifter makes a clicking noise going into gear. is there a way to get it to stop, other than getting a short throw?
Looking for 2004 gli all weather floor mats? or ones that would fit?

Recently picked up a 05 GLI with the bbs wheels. Last night i was driving into my parking garage and noticed a clicking noise comming from the back left wheel.
I lifted the car on that side and spun the wheel but it didn't make the noise. But once i set it back down and rolled the car the click came back. So i'm guessing it has something to do with pressure being applied to the wheel.
ok i don't know if it is a problem or if it is alright but my 18t GLI makes a weird sound in third when I let off the gas. kind of like a whine/grind. I asked the guy i bought it from and he said it has been this way since he bought it too. It sounds like it might involve the turbo but thats just a guess. it only does it in third gear.
View 6 RepliesCar is making a clacking sound, and when i press on the gas to rev it several time my CEL flashes. pulled each wiring harness for my coil pack, and they all seem to be good still. What may be wrong? maybe spark plugs? if that was the case wouldn't pulling the wiring harness from each one pinpoint a certain plug that is loose? i changed my plugs last week, but had no problems until today when i started my car even drove it last night with no issues..???
View 5 RepliesMy Jetta has had an off-and-on clicky turn signal sound without turn signals or hazard lights actually blinking. I put up with it for a while, but recently it's been more clicky than not. I'm aware this is a common problem. I had already tried the cleaner spray "trick" which made the problem worse if anything. Today, I removed my signal stalk as described here and gave it a cleaning. After re-assembling, the clicky problem didn't go away, and now the high beams are always on (even with the key out of the ignition, and the car isn't running). I temporarily dealt with this by pulling fuses 18 and 19 for high beams. It's an ok short-term workaround. Low beams still work fine.
I'm considering replacing the hazard signal relay, but a while ago I messed up while trying to use ghetto removal keys to pull my radio.
For a couple of weeks, when i put my car in reverse and also sometimes in first, I hear a weird clunking sound coming from under/around my feet when i release the clutch and start taking off....is the clutch gone or going soon???
View 5 RepliesI've been trying to locate the source of the noise that is coming under the car. Specifically below the handbrake. Like something is lose, took the car to a shop to have it inspected, checked the exhaust, and there was nothing there, all clamps there and screws.
It only happens most of the time when the car is cold and it feels all the way from the hand brake to the stick shift. Sounds like a rattle like something is about to go off from the car but I cant imagine what could be. Couldn't replicate the noise at the shop, only when you are driving and the car is in inclined it rattles really bad until the car gets back to the normal position. Specifically in 1st gear .
So my 1.8T GLI is making an odd sound that sounds like it's coming from the right side of the engine. Sounds like a busted bearing of some sort. Not too keen on this engine yet...
View 4 Repliesso i have an automatic GLI its my first automatic VW i put a forge DV and carbino CAI on it yesterday, and compared to my Manual cars the air release sounds a whole lot different. it more or less sounds like a horse blowing its lips around. is that normal sound for auto vechiles.
View 5 RepliesMy clutch was done about a year ago and the car now has a sort of "chattering" sound while the car is out of gear. Once you press the clutch down though the sound goes away. Is this just a by product of being converted from a Dual Mass Flywheel to a single, or is this a bearing issue or something otherwise that can be resolved?

View 13 RepliesWhen I am going into or downshifting to second gear in my GLI it makes a thud sound after I let out the clutch. It doesn't always happen and it does it if I just throw it down and if I don't have a perfect rev match. It just started a few days ago.
