The Vent/defrost/front/rear buttons on the steering wheel quit working so I replaced them, still not working, so I replaced the Clock spring, still not working. The controls on the touch screen works fine its just the steering wheel buttons that don't work.
View 3 RepliesThe right side of my (2011 level II) steering wheel has five buttons: Trip, Dist, air recirc, temp +/-. All but Trip and Dist are duplicates of nice big buttons on the climate console, so are rather redundant.
View 7 RepliesI took my truck to the dealer because my steering wheel buttons quit working as far as going forward or back between songs via bluetooth. The tech said the buttons don't work via bluetooth from the factory and I told him he was wrong. They worked in a 2007 Edge, 2008 F150, 2009 Fusion, 2009 F250, and until the day before, my 2012 F150. He said "You must be mistaken". I took it home, pulled Fuse 2 (Sync) waited a couple of minutes (Nice place for the fuse box, Ford) put the fuse back, let Sync load, repaired, etc, and my steering buttons now work again. I only use bluetooth with both my S3 and Note 2, so if your buttons stop working, do you always have to pull the fuse, or is there an easier way to fix this? That's the fix I found.
View 8 RepliesMy 05 has a problem with the recirculate and defrost buttons on the wheel. The recirculate button will sometimes toggle the MFD between the consumption screen and the energy monitor screen like the info button does and won't change the recirculate light on the dash at all. Sometimes it will do nothing, and other times it works normal changing from outside air to recirculate. Also the defrost button will sometimes turn on the windshield defroster with 1 push then turn on the rear defroster with a second push and both will go off on the 3rd push.
Other times both defrost buttons will do nothing or work normally. When the wheel buttons are acting up the MFD will control both the recirculate and defrost functions normally so I don't think the MFD is the problem. The 12 volt battery has been checked and is good at 12.4 volts and there is no malfunction lights or codes set in the system. All the other buttons on the wheel function normally. What to check?
Owner of a brand new '13 Prius C Two. No "Entune" system, just the basic radio. I connect my iPhone 5 via Bluetooth; it works wonderfully. I can still use the handset controls to make phone calls; I have speed dials set up, and using my iPhone 5 as a phone in the car works great.
What stopped working this morning: skipping tracks using either the "Seek" button on the Prius radio itself as well as the controls on the steering wheel. Volume controls on the radio itself AND on the steering wheel work just fine for adjusting the volume.
The "Pause/Play" button on the Prius radio does work, but only after about :04 seconds or so. A song or podcast will play; the steering wheel controls for skipping tracks does not work; same with the Seek button on the radio itself; and pressing the pause/play button works, but not immediately after depressing it. Takes a few seconds.The only way to skip ahead/backward is on the iPhone itself.
For the almost 2 months I've owned the Prius C, this is the first time this has happened. Connecting audio via Bluetooth has "just worked" every single day. What's perplexing about this is that I've changed nothing on the iPhone overnight. The Seek button on the Prius radio worked fine yesterday, as did the steering wheel controls not even 24 hours ago.
The Seek button on the radio itself does work with the radio and a CD. Same with the steering wheel controls; as long as I'm not trying to control the iPhone, it works fine.
i am having problem that all the buttons and the touch screen not working at al inspite the car is still new 2015
but the buttons on the steering can still control the colume and the radio !!
My 2010 nav went bad this weekend on the road. It says it does not see my DVD. If you eject it and put it back in, it will sometimes, rarely come on a few seconds then back to not seeing the DVD. How to fix it?

View 14 RepliesAll of the other buttons on my 05 are fine but for the last year or so the defrost buttons only work when the wheel is turned at least 90 degrees. I am guessing that there is a contact strip of some sort. How hard is it to get to the backside of these buttons?

However, even after removing the center nut I still cannot get the steering wheel out. I have tired pulling it hard and tapping it lightly but no success.
How to get the steering wheel to come out at this point?
I just noticed this the other day. The three climate control buttons on the right side of my steering wheel--fresh/recirc, front defrost, rear defrost--have stopped working.
The functions still work if I use the MFD display to control them. What this might be? Is there a separate fuse for these buttons?
It seems as if the navigation system on my wives 07 Prius has failed. Basically, all of the buttons on the right side of the MFD don't work. Whenever we press the navigation button the screen goes dark green or has a striped vertical screen.

But it will change stations on station settings 1-2-3. Is it possible to use the steering wheel controls to go through all of the radio stations? This might allow me to stop using my touch screen controls so much.
View 8 RepliesI just got a used 2010 Prius with Bluetooth and navigation. A few issues...
1) I can't link my phone to Bluetooth to play music. It's linked up to make phone calls and if the phone rings it automatically comes through to the car. If I try to connect to play music, it tries automatically to connect to my husbands phone, even when it is not in the car. We even deleted both phones and it still tries to link to my husbands phone. When I try to connect mine it says the connection couldn't be made.
2) The GPS entry buttons lag like crazy. I press one button and it lags so long that half the time I'm pressing another button think it should have moved on and instead of accepting my previous entry it recognizes the new one.so, I'm constantly going back and redoing things. This is also slow because the backspace and previous screen button also lag. I'm going to say each push takes several seconds so it takes ages to get anything entered. Half the time I can't even bother because I have a screaming toddler in the car, which makes the navigation almost useless to me.
3) The navigation locks you out when driving. I know this is a safety issue but I don't understand why I can't use it as a passenger when my husband is driving. It's really annoying to have to pull over every time we need to do something...which then takes ages due to the aforementioned lag. Is there a way around this?
I'm sure I could take it to the dealer but I'm sort enough on time as it is these days and we can't afford to be without a car.
I replaced my Entune unit on my 2013 Persona with a Pioneer Avic Z150BH, best decision I ever made. I expected to lose steering wheel controls for the radio and hands free, but I did not expect to lose the steering wheel controls for my climate control and multi function display. I can no longer use the Disp, Trip, and climate control buttons now.
View 7 Replies I may have a problem with the lights behind the buttons surrounding the Multi Function Display on my 2013 Prius (ex. "SEEK", "TRACK", "AUDIO", "SETUP", "CAR", etc.). The other night I parked the car and turned the headlights off for about 5 minutes (I generally leave the lights on at all times when the car is running - day and night). I turned the lights back on and when I did I noticed that the lights behind the buttons surrounding the MFD were no longer functioning (so you really can't see the buttons in the dark now). My wife tells me that they've always been like that, but that just doesn't make any sense to me (I'm almost positive they were working before I turned the lights on and off). About 2 and 1/2 months ago I installed an is imple gateway so I could hook up a SiriusXM xv200, but I wouldn't think I would get a problem like this from doing that 2.5 months after the fact. A couple of questions:
1. Should these buttons light up (or is my wife correct that I'm crazy)?
2. Could the problem be the isimple gateway?
My steering wheel controls on the lower half quit working last year , then the cruise control quit intermittently last month , then the air bag light starts appearing last week. Deciding this means a failed clock spring / spiral cable , I took apart my spiral cable housing, and found two obvious breaks in the electrical wiring . I first bought a salvage unit on Ebay, to find it arrived bound, didn't turn freely (and no returns from seller). I then bought one from the dealer and installed it last week and very happily have all symptoms fixed!
The replacement was easier than I expected, the steering wheel was not actually very tight, I doubt I needed the steering wheel puller I 'borrowed' from the parts store , could have just loosed the main nut, wiggled and tugged it loose. Just a note be sure to remove 12 volt power from the car, and mark the steering wheel center shaft to the steering wheel for reinstall .
As a rural mail carrier I deliver mail out of my prius with the window down, traveling about 5 hours a day on dusty ,sand roads in Kansas. The car interior gets dusty and this caused the failure of the spiral cable.
Pic's of the old failed unit, the new one comes with some lubricant, white perhaps lithium grease for the ribbons/ wheels, mine had dryed up patches of grease, some I cleaned off the ribbons before the pictures where taken. I'll check the new one in a year, may regrease , cleaning it out to try to prevent this from happening again. I did add some plastic under the airbag to improvise a dust shield for the new spiral cable. Car has 197k bought it with 106k , now has around 60 k from driving on the route.
I have a Volvo XC90 2.4 D5 2004. But none of the buttons on the steering wheel are working - not volume for radio, not cruise control.
Symptoms are following:
* buttons on the steering wheel are lighted up
* buttons on the steering wheel are not working, none of them
* horn is not working
I have checked internet over and over and have 3 conclusions, what might be faulty:
1) steeling wheel lining/wire/connections - but in this case they would work periodically and the buttons would not be lighted up;
2) steering wheel module (swm) - in this case also the turn signals would not work and also the headlight would be faulty;
3) clockspring - in this case the airbag light should light up in dashboard.
I have a 2012 GLS and on the way to work this evening I noticed that the volume/channel buttons on the steering wheel for the radio will not work. The mode button still works properly, so I attempted to change the radio station on the radio itself to no avail. No buttons other than the volume work on the radio as well.
