I'm looking to take out my ECU and send it to APR to get tuned. Where is the ECU on the MKVI and how do you remove it?
I removed my old R32 ECU a while back. Is it in the same place as the MKIV?
I've had an intermittent problem on my DSG GTI. It will crank about 5 - 10 seconds before it turns over. It doesn't happen all the time. I've also noticed it stalling out after start up occasionally.
After several trips to my lame dealer they can't find anything wrong or duplicate the problem.
MKVI GTI's are well known for body flex and creaking squeaking noises coming from door seals while going over large bumps, especially at an angle. Has VW resolved this issue on the MKVII?
View 5 RepliesLike the title says... Do any lowered mkvi's have any noises or popping sounds coming from your car's front suspension? The reason I ask is on my MKV R32 I had H&R springs on stock shocks and at low speed full lock turns I had a slight poping noise. Everything on the R was installed right and it only had ~3-4k miles on it when the springs were installed. After doing research it seemed like a fair amount of lowered MKV's had this noise and it was thought to have something to do with the strut bearing.

View 16 Replies2010 Golf 2.5 with non-MF steering wheel. I bought a MF steering wheel with module, wiring etc. I finally decided to do the swap today. I can't even take the airbag off!
I disconnect the battery, turn the wheel 90 degrees left, use a small mirror to see the tab behind and insert a flat screwdriver and pry it towards the center.
It does not pop out.. I pull the airbag little bit, it does not clear. When I remove the screwdriver, the hook sits back on the tab again..
I've tried on both sides for almost an hour and the goddamn airbag is still there...
We are in the process of taking off the downpipe of our R. We can not figure out the trick to getting the front lower bolt of the downpipe. For that matter we can not even see the damn thing. Do you get to it from the top or bottom?

View 6 RepliesThe driver and passenger side were no problems at all, but the center vent is giving me trouble. I've seen the how-to, but can't get it to pop out. I don't really have a proper screwdriver, at home, to push up on the two clips on the top inside of the vent, but I used a hard plastic interior trim removal tool, while prying at the top with another. I have left the bottom controls in as I can't pull the left side buttons out enough to disconnect them while the vent is still in.

I try not to flash as much as possible.
Note: In the future I am planning to change the oil myself with an extractor but not enough time and I plan to do a road-trip of 4k miles by the end of the year, so wanted to let them check everything prior.
Just put an OEM leather armest in my GLI. I ordered a new "sport cloth" lid from the dealer and was wondering how you go about removing the lid itself?

View 8 RepliesThe fabric has been falling off most of the interior pieces, so I figured I'd start with trying to reglue the fabric on the A-Pillars. I searched the topic & found threads that said to remove the airbag emblem by prying gently, then remove a screw behind that. So I gently remove the emblem & find I have snapped off the 2 posts holding it in place, & there is no screw behind the emblem. What is the removal procedure?
