It's the same every time. forty minutes into a drive and the TPMS light starts blinking. It blinks for about three minutes and then goes solid. After two minutes or so the light goes off completely. Every time I check, my tire pressure is perfect. I carry a good analog gauge with me and monitor pressure obsessively.
View 4 RepliesToday riding to work... the little TPMS light (looks like a tire with and ! in the middle) came on - Started blinking for a minute then went solid. so I pulled off the highway and checked my tire pressure.. all tires were 31 or above.. (S/B 33)
Topped off all tires w/ air and went back on the road - light didn't go out... then on the way home, it went off... and it wasn't the cold.. It was a 'balmy' 20 this morning...
Owner's manual says it was the TPMS system malfunctioning OR interference from outside... 2012 Sonata GLS ....
Ok...so I drove my car last night about 120 miles and all was well. Got up this morning to go run some errands and the car started acting weird, sputtering. The check engine light was blinking on and off, then it came on solid and stayed on. I haven't checked the code yet.

I just got my car back from the dealer last night (the 4th time it's been in for service in under three months of ownership, pathetic). When I turned the car on this morning I got a blinking icon on the odometer. The icon is the same as the low tire pressure icon except the MFD doesn't show air pressure is low and the icon is flashing for the first minute or so. I checked out the tires anyway. When I tried to unscrew the valve cover the metal piece came right off leaving the inner rubber portion stuck over the valve stem. This was the same scenario for 3 of my 4 wheels. I'm assuming one of the fools from the service department put a death grip on the caps after refilling the tires (part of the "full circle service, tires/tpms had nothing to do with why my car was in). My question is, why this light is on? The pressure isn't low and there is nothing wrong with the way it drives. I'm stumped and don't want to have to bring my car back in. [IMG][URL]....
View 24 RepliesMy TPMS light blinks for the first 1 minute the car is on, and then stays solid. No errors listed on the display. How the hell can I clear this thing? I don't have vag yet, but my auto scanner shows no MIL for engine / trans. I can't believe I can't find a TPMS reset button (like on my toyota). The pressure is rock solid for all 4 tires and spare.
View 24 Replies2 days ago i drove to a store, went in and came back out, started the car up and the EPS light was on. It would switch from either blinking or solid on. The steering still to this point works just fine, and i can not feel any difference in it.
The next day while i was waiting for a ride to get the car dropped at the garage, i went to start the car up and it was drained. Lights still came on but it didnt have enough to turn over. Upon a jump it worked fine, and would continue to run ok. It would restart after that quite a few times, even with full electric load on before starting(ac/radio/all lights/so on). Battery tested at 30% charge and 12v output, couldnt check amps at auto zone because of low charge. Since its factory battery from a 2010 model i just went and replaced it anways.
Since that point i have had both battery and alternator tested, both working fully. The EPS light remains on, and the car still acts 100% normal after 2 days of light driving.
Is it possible the dying battery could have some how messed with the EPS system causing that, and only that, light to turn on? If so, short of having the codes reset at the garage, would it be safe to continue light driving, or should i take it in right away?
The light flashes then turns solid. I checked the pressure to find 32lbs in the tires. I pumped them back up to 36 front, 35 rear (per suggestions here to minimize steering wander).
The light remains on. Knowing the pressures were fine, I have driven it several days to see if the light goes out on its own. No dice.
While driving last week, the wife asked about this and we pressed the Blue Link connect button. The service rep who responded said she saw no pressure warning on her remote panel.
Over the weekend, I tried inflating the tires to 40psi, thinking that the higher pressure would reset the light and then I could lower the pressure to normal levels. That did not work, either.
So yesterday, I called the dealer and the service rep said the system warns of BOTH under pressure and over pressure. She suggested setting the tires to the "sweet spot," at 35psi. I did this, and the light remains on.
I guess I will need drive to the dealer and let them piddle with it. I like the system, or at least the idea. But I hope I don't have to drive to the dealer after every attempt to maintain the tires.
This will be my first winter using a dedicated set of winter tires and wheels on my 09 Camry. The set doesn't have TPMS sensors. Will the TPMS light constantly flash or just stay lit when the system doesn't detect the sensors? I could live with the light always lit but if it flashes it will be annoying.
View 14 RepliesOk, got a 99 Buick Century that is a cantankerous old hag. It doesn't like to start sometimes. naturally when i really need to get somewhere. The security light blinks at me for a while, goes solid, then i cycle the ignition and hope it will start. It happens with multiple keys and remote start(which has been removed multiple times because each mechanic thinks that will magically fix it). No rhyme or reason, it sends no code, the local buick dealership couldn't figure it out. I think its my security computer. what is the easiest/cheapest diy solution besides get full coverage and leave it in the ghetto with the keys and hope it ends up on cops? battery is fine, it starts normally most of the month, just maybe a handful of times a month it won't. Starter I believe is still good as well, and gets voltage when it starts. Fuel pump audibly works all the time.
View 4 RepliesSince i have owned my car the brake and ABS lights have been on (bought it like 2 months ago) i have a solid ABS light, and as long as the ebrake is down the brake light blinks.
Through searching I found that i most likely have a bad abs module. Before I take it out and send it to get repaired, i was wondering if there is anything else that i could check.
I also used VAGCOM to try and talk to the brakes and there is no response from the controller.
My 2.8 v6 2000 has been acting wierd when shifting it kind of feels like the clutch is slipping its through acceleration so when the rpm's are climbing it feels like it is slipping but than above 3 rpms it accelerates with no problem, when it feels like it is slipping the check engine light blinks, obviously telling you to stop driving, but than the check engine light goes back to a solid warning and stops blinking. just had my oil changed and after that my check engine light came on solid, now it is sluggishly bumpy when accelerating and feels like the clutch is not catching,Wish i knew what it could be.
View 2 RepliesI bought a 2005 RX330 a couple months ago. It now has 48,500 miles. The following happened 3 times while driving:
The ABS, Brake, and VSC lights come on solid and the Low Tire Pressure light blinks. Things go back to normal after I turn the engine off and start it again.
Dealer wants to see it first before they do anything about it. Problem is that every time it happened the dealer was closed. I live about an hour away and I’m not even sure I want to drive for one hour while these lights are on.
Reading some postings it seems like this was a known issue with the 2004 models (brake light switch). Same problem with a 2005 model?
The ESC warning light has started coming on intermittently on my 06 GLS. Stays solid, not blinking. Turning the car off and starting again resets it but never for long.
The brake light switch was already replaced once at 36K miles. It's now at about 84,500. Do these things have a history of going bad multiple times?
For what it's worth, my little ELM327 ODB II plug-in gadget shows no faults but it may not be able to see the right data. I'm taking it back to the dealer in the morning, where they probably won't fix it and probably will break something else.
I did the blue wire cut-mod 20 minutes ago. I had a consistent blinking TPMS light. I cut the correct, blue, wire and grounded to a stud behind the kick panel. The light is now steadily lit. Was I supposed to disconnect the battery first?
View 1 RepliesI have an Avalon 2009 with the TMPS indicator blinking for 30 seconds when the car is started and won't go off.
I think this might indicate an issue with the sensor? How do I know which one and how to replace it?
Also, I cannot release the trunk from the button in the car (by my knee) or the trunk release button from the remote.
Does the TMPS light blinking and staying on has anything to do with that?
In the past, when I had a rear signal bulb went out, I couldn't scroll down my window either. Once I replaced it, I was able to.
I wonder if the trunk being locked from automatic release methods is the result of the TMPS light being on.
My tpms light came on tonight after 15 minutes of freeway driving. I checked the pressure in all 4 tires, and they were all right about 36 lbs. The door jamb tire info says 33 lbs cold, so this seems about right to me. why the tpms light might have come on? Is the spare tire hooked up to the tpms system? My Passat is only 1 month old, so I'm surprised the light came on.
View 8 RepliesI bought a used 2007 Santa Fe about 4 months ago. 45k miles. The TPMS work nice. I had a tire start getting low and it told me which one.
But every once in a while the other light, just the TPMS light comes on for a couple minutes and then goes off. The manual says if this light comes on than something with TPMS is malfunctioning. But it doesn't stay on constantly.
About four days ago my TPMS warning light started blinking. Same tires and sensors have been on there for quite some time. The service book says to take it to the dealer, but I instead stopped by Discount Tire (where I purchased the tires) to see if they could look and figure out which sensor was acting up.
When he ran his sensor, none of my four sensors showed up as broadcasting at all! Now I know that all four of my sensors did not just randomly go out at the same time.
We own a 2010 Honda CRV and at 25,000 miles the TPMS light started coming on every time the car was driven for thirty minutes on the highway. It has been to the dealership four times now and it is still not fixed. They first relearned the system and then they replaced the component that the sensors communicate with and the light continued to come on every time. They then replaced all four sensors as well as the radio. The light still came on again after thirty minutes into a long drive at high speed. The air conditioner panel was swapped with another and problem still not solved. They replaced two more brand new sensors on rear tires for new ones because the rear tires still showed faulty sensors.
For some reason they decided to take the tires off and replace with tires from another CRV they had on their lot which had alloy wheels and not steel and they test drove it and claimed the TPMS light did not come on. This was a waste of time because they just put the original tires back on anyway. Every time the car was taken in they claimed they fixed it and test drove it to make sure. After four visits to the dealership and the last time they had it for over a week, the car is not fixed and the TPMS light still comes on.
Recently I failed my inspection on my 99 Passat due to a blinking brake light. I was told by VW service department that this was caused by a bad ABS unit. Now I can't pass inspection without proving that my brakes are fine but the ABS module is causing the blinking parking light.
View 1 RepliesHaving a problem with my 2005 passat. 90k. Started running bad at idle like the car was about to die. CEL startes blinking and the EPC and Anti skid light came on (not blinking). Brought it to Auto Zone had them check the cel said misfire in all 4 cyl also a p0221. Started the car ran great. This morning started the car exact same problem. When I came home started the car ran great CEL is still on but both EPC and anti skid lights are off.
