Both left and right tail lights don't work but brake lights and reverse work fine. Fuses look good and bulbs are fine. Could it be related to the 'circuit board' type housing that the bulbs are in? If it is, are they in series meaning if one goes bad the other side won't work either?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 Pickup. My left brake light, both my rear tail lights and my front parking lights don't seem to be coming on. The 'Lamp Out' message was lit up.
I opened up the back covers and found the center brake bulb in the left tail light was bad. I replaced that. Now the brake light works, and the lamp out reading on the dash has went away. However, the tail lights are still not coming on, and we have noticed that when we turn the tail lights on, the front parking lights don't light up either.
We checked all the rear bulbs, as well as all the fuses that have anything to do with tail or parking lamps in the fuse panel with a meter. All fuses seem to be good.
Is it possible that one of the parking lights in the front could be defective causing the tail lights not to light up? Signals also work fine on front and rear, as well as the reverse lights & high beams.
2005 Jetta. I have to replace my tail light bulbs seemingly every 5 months or so. Getting pulled over for this foolishness is getting very annoyIng.

Recently I've noticed that I've had to replace my passenger side one twice in the last 3 months and my driver side one twice in two months. It doesn't seem to matter if I use GE or Sylvania bulbs so I'm guessing it's the cars fault.

I have water in my Jetta's tail lights and its really annoying. I just had them both out on the weekend and checked out the foam gaskets and they were both fine but i replaced them with an older pair I had that looked in even better shape but basically the same condition...
Rained pretty hard last night and now there is like more water in them then before... I made sure I tightened them down good because they were not that tight when I originally took them off.
There is water condensation in my spare tire well and making my carpet wet and starting to fog up my rear windows..

But when i turn the knob off the auto headlights turn on. Any insight on this? when i first got the car everything was working fine. It only started to happen after I replaced the radiator.

12v vr6 in my 2000 jetta. 174,000 miles, just recently got it, has cel and couple other lights, and the obd2 scanner I have will not work on it. Car wants to die after a big rev, and sometimes while driving. Not sure what the problem could be.
Will be taking it to autozone to see if the scanner works.
Started out of the blue. I stopped for gas and when I got back in the car, every little light in my instrument cluster came on and has remained on for weeks. Car runs fine - everything feels normal. Ignition switch, maybe?

When I park the car with the headlight switch in the "on" position, i notice that after a few minutes, the headlights turn off, but the tail lights do not; they stay on indefinitely.

I have 2 friends, one with a 2000 like mine and one with a 99.5 that do, and all the newer models I encountered at the car lot I used to work at did as well. View 9 RepliesI just purchased a 2000 ford contour and it only has one major problem, the tail lights stay on after shutting off the engine and turning the lights off, you actually have to pull out the fuse to get them to turn off and then replace it before driving again, I looked through the owners manual and cod not find a solution. Also, the brake lights don't get brighter when you press the brakes, I'm not sure if that is part of the same problem or another issue entirely.

I'm pretty sure that he is working on a GTI. Is it the same as a R32 because mine doesn't really look the same. my interior trim doesn't seem to peal that easy or at all. Do I need to cut the trim with a blade or remove any plastic trim pieces to access the lights?
