I didn't use my Jetta for about 4 weeks and now just noticed that the numbers (miles driven/total miles & time) are blank. There is just a small pixel in the middle of the left display. I checked Fusible 13 and 15 I presume (5A each) and they are ok. No codes with vag com.

View 4 RepliesSo i hit a pretty nasty manhole on the road which hit my driver side lower control arm and caused my passenger seat and curtain airbag to deploy. no damage anywhere else. I got the airbags replaced (seat is being reupholstered atm) so i was wondering is it possible to reset the log or do i have to get a new sensor.
View 3 Replies2nd time for alignment in two weeks. My numbers were WAY different than when I left. Rear toe is out, it was out when I left the first time, but it's out in the opposite direction now. Are those four bolts stretch bolts? Maybe my bushings are shot which are causing the varied numbers??

View 7 RepliesI purchased a 2006 Volkswagen Golf TDI from the auction that had blown passenger and drivers airbag. I replaced the dashboard and both airbags, as well as the airbag control module and now the vehicle won't start. It started fine before replacing it.
The only code I got before was the 18996 Prior to this as well as a bunch of airbag ones (obviously due to the air bags)

I cleared all of these codes and 01314 and 17978 are cleared but still won't start so I'm sure its just a matter of time before those codes kick in again. I tried searching these codes and still can't figure it out from all my research. Hopefully I didn't miss connecting something during my dashboard replacement?
My car has been in and out of my mechanics with no resolution to my problem.
When I press my AC button, a number of warning dashboard lights on my dashboard turn on, check engine, oil pressure, abs, air bag (pretty sure all of them). Each time this happens, I have my mechanic clear the warning lights in my dash. And no, the AC does not turn on.
I don't have any warning lights on my dash, and driving the car without pressing the AC button for weeks doesn't trigger any warnings. Once the AC is pressed, I get almost all of them, within a minute. The codes that his computer read are failure to communicate signals.
I recently have been running into some problems with my 03 jetta 2.0. Last night as I was driving home my radio start to turn off followed by ABS, airbag and battery lights coming on and then lights on the dashboard were dimming followed by headlights going out for a few secs then returning on but dim. I stopped in my drive way to open door and when I tried to press the accelerator, my car completely died.
Over the past 2 weeks or so I have had to change the fuel pump and the alternator because i thought that was the problem. I noticed when i first had problems the fuel pump wasn't charging so i changed that. then days later my car started to completely die when I tried to start it(not turning over, no lights no nothing). i tried a new battery it would still die. So I installed a new alternator. My car worked fine for about a week-week and a half before last night.
I've been trying to get my music from iTunes to an SD card so I have some traveling music for the long drive home. All the files transferred to the card and I can play them on my MacBook pro, but when I put the SD card into my '10 TDI Sportwagon (which has an SD card slot) the radio says the card contains no data. I tried both a 32gb and a 8gb card. For both cards, the radio says the card contains no data.

Can the sensor go bad after the airbag was blown? All the steering wheel controls still work.
The programmed code inside the smart key could be changed or erased if it is too close to your cell phone(same pocket). As a result u can't start your car any more.
I understand that Nissan has some these cases reported on its smart key(07 G35?) and it issue the statements that the key need to be at least "one inch away" from your cell.
I have 3000 songs in folders on a USB stick. I understand how to get random play both within the folder, and for the entire USB. (Pushing and holding the button) What my frustration is is that everytime i take a phone call, or everytime i turn off the car, the random setting gets erased and it is back to sequential play. Is there a way to get this to a default permanent setting of "all random".
View 3 RepliesI'm in the middle of doing a timing belt and as I was slipping the new belt on my crankshaft moved! To my horror my timing mark erased after I used some brake parts cleaner to blow off the area. What can I do to get that bolt back to TDC?

I have issues with contacts and speed dials being erased. About once a month, all contacts and speed dials are erased and only call history remains. I have an iPhone for reference.

I find that it's not easy to figure out what is the correct part. Various sites show differences in Japan vs US build, some show different parts for left and right and there's no particular consistency.
So, what are exact part numbers? This is a US built 2005 LE AT. The build date is 04/05.
I only see highway numbers on the map display, not street names. Is this because it is a CD-based nav system and not DVD-based (my DVD nav system on my Mini Cooper S displays all street names)?
Maybe I am missing a setting?
So the climate control on my 2002 430 is starting to loose sections of the numbers.
Not a bunch but I fear that it is just a matter of time before they all go away.
I assume, not being a LCD engineer, that there really isn't much that can be done to fix my existing LCD but I thought I would ask the group hoping for a resolution other than replacing the LCD.
Both my wifes and my iPhones have had our favorite Phone numbers deleted after pairing with our brand new Prius V. We've only had it two days and Im starting to NOT like the Toyota technology at all.

View 10 RepliesThe check engine light on my 09 Corolla came on so, after it continuing to stay on, I bought a OBD ll Code Reader. The scan showed 10 faults but, only 3 code numbers were given for the 10 faults. Each of the 3 code numbers appeared twice for a total of 6 out of the 10 faults indicated. The remaining 4 faults had no corresponding code numbers. Don't know why but, they just didn't. Even after multiple scans.
Here are the code numbers that did show.
P2401(twice)

P2419(twice)
According to the CD that came with the reader, this is what the codes mean.
P2401.. evap emission system leak detection pump control circuit low.
P2402.. same thing as above except control circuit high.
P2419.. evap emission system switching valve control circuit low.
Looking for more specific explanation to me what this all means then it has something to do with emissions. Is it something that should be of concerned? I have erased the codes a couple of times but after a day or two, the engine light comes on again. This has been going on for over a month now but, the car is working great. Last road trip, I got approx 52 mpg.
I need to identify the part numbers for the u joints in the rear drive shaft. The guys at the auto parts store kept telling me I only need two until I showed them that there are clearly three. I just want make sure that I get the correct parts before purchase.
