I got my jetta over a year ago, and during that time I've accidentally left the lights on a number of times. But just a few days ago it started making a tone when I leave the lights on. Is there some way to turn that feature on and off, or was something wrong that mysteriously healed itself?
View 3 RepliesThis just started happening a few days ago. The right bulb will turn on normally with the rest of the car, but as I'm driving it will randomly turn off for a second, then power back on. Some nights I won't see the issue at all, other nights it will be doing this every other couple of minutes or so.
View 10 RepliesI have just had my LHS battery replaced after ages messing about trying to get it done at a reasonable price and level of skill and the car feels like it is new. Once they had cleared out the erroneous fault codes, everything came back to life. For the first time, the central locking system works as it is supposed to, and the centre display in the binnacle no longer flashes. So everything's great - except the TPMS.
The dealer reported that it was working fine, and so it appeared, for about a mile, then the warning tone and message flashed up and I was back to square one. The same thing happened this morning. When I started the car, the TPMS was working, and displaying the pressures on the screen, and after about a mile, the dreaded warning tone and error message. If you think your battery is low, do get it replaced.
I'm not sure if this is a general FWD car problem or a Prius problem but a week ago I noticed a loud, and reasonably pure, tone that seems to be coming from the front of my '05 Prius at highway speed I don't believe it is tire, alignment, or road noise The car knows that something is wrong because it occationally throws some error lights but refuses to reveal the specific code My current thought is drive shaft, axle, CV joint, or similar but I don't know if that can turn on the error lights Any thoughts? Could I have two independent issues?
The car has 157k miles and was in two minor accidents before I got it One required a rear bumper replacement, the other they had to pop out a dent from the front driver's side quarter panel The records do not indicate that any other parts were damaged I have owned the car for 25k miles
Error lights: A few days after the noise started and 30 minutes into my morning commute while driving at highway speed up a hill (20kW from the ICE) I got the big red triangle of doom, ((!)), VSC, and the mark on the red car on the MFD. Aside from the lights the car appeared to drive normally I checked the voltage on the MFD less than a minute after the lights came on and it showed 14.1V The MIL light was not lit, and the Torque app on my android was not able to pull a DTC but was able to clear the error and consequently turn off the warning lights
The next day the same warning lights popped up again and at the end of the commute I used a paperclip to connect pin 4 and 13 on the OBD port in an attempt to read the code When I turned the car on with the two pins shorted the red triangle lit but the ABS, ((!)), and VSC lights all blinked at 2 Hz indicating their systems were normal After turning the car on and off four times the red triangle went away
The error lights have now popped up four times, each time after more than 30 minutes of driving I have also had several trips longer than an hour where the lights did not come on
I keep getting a warning that my right front headlight is out when it is working just fine. I will turn the car off and when I turn it on again the warning is gone. It's weird that it will show up then disappear for a week and then pop up again. If the light was going out I'd understand but the light has been fine the whole time.

Problem 1 : Driving into a small town I slowed to 35 mph and set cruise control to hold speed. Suddenly a loud warning tone/ beep sounded and the engine shut off. I coasted into a parking lot and restarted and drove the rest of the way home without incident. (another 1-1/2 hour drive). Could I have had an auto shut down because of a low fluid sensor or something similar?
My cold antifreeze was below the cold fill range but still was visible in the container. The temperatures were not high and the heater still worked. All other levels were normal.
Problem 2 : It also have an irritating buzz in the dash some where. Sounds almost like you would imagine a speedometer cable could sound, except no cable. Could it be the speedometer? It is intermittent and seems related to either speed or RPM.
I have a 2006 Powerstroke F350. Recently, the "check air filter" light has been coming on. It comes on intermittently, and every time it comes on it makes a warning tone. Super annoying.
I reset the minder, and even tried unplugging it. No change. I think I must have a short in the sensor wiring, but I can't seem to find a wiring diagram that shows the air filter sensor.
Looking for a wiring diagram that shows how the minder is wired? Or What is the part number for the relevant wiring harness?
2006 350 6.0, on startup the high and low 4x4 and brake lights come on the dash with a constant tone for a minute or two then stop.
View 2 RepliesSo my headlight switch is literally On/Off. I disabled the DRL by folding down the pin inside. But I am replacing my headlights with a custom projector housing with HID lows, halogen highs, LED Fogs, and CCFL halos, so I'd like the ability to turn on just parking lights or just the fog lights to show off the Halos etc. If I pick up a Bora Switch that has these features, will I have to re-wire/run through fuse box, etc.
View 7 RepliesI have a MKIV R32 and the other day I was driving with the A/C on, blowing cold air when randomly the air turned hot and hasn't blown cold yet. I took a look at the refrigerant levels today and they show a full charge along with the low-side refrigerant tube to the compressor getting cold but no still no luck.
The compressor is on so I don't think that's at fault, what else could there be? Something electrical maybe?
I have an 01gti glx and my headlights are not working when i turn my headlight switch on. They work just fine when i release the ebrake just not working with the switch! I checked the fuses under the dash and all were good.

View 4 RepliesI replaced some TYC OEM headlights on my car with stock OEM Hella headlights and cleaned up the lenses really nice.
Once installed, I went to adjust the headlights to find out that the passenger outer adjustment just spins.
This is the one in the photo:
I am not too sure if I can fix this. The little wheel doesn't seem like it can be removed and it has some back and forth play on it.
Need to successfully repaired headlight adjustment?
My Mk4 2000 Jetta 2.slow has been acting up, a week ago I went to pick something up from my fathers house and a minute later I cam back to start it to only have the idle strange,it as well the throttle being all sorts of weir till it cut out and I had to push it into the drive way. I has the coil pack tested, and it was measured to be right where it needed to buy. I then bought starting fluid and after spraying it into the air intake it started. I had it running till it cut out and had to redo it again. Then when driving home again after putting more in it stopped, I was able to start it again keep moving for another ten second before having it stop again. I am receiving no check engine lights, alternator is good and as wel as the battery.
View 10 RepliesHeadlight bulbs. So I am looking to replace my bulbs because mine don't seem to have that great of light output. I am not sure if it is the actual headlight or if it is just the bulbs? Is it possible to just replace the bulbs and get better light output? I am not sure of the brand of headlights I have but I am pretty sure they are some cheap aftermarket ebay headlights. I want to replace the headlights in the future but for now I was wondering if I can get away with just replacing the bulbs. When selecting the bulbs, are they all pretty much universal or do I have to buy specifically for the type of headlights I have?
View 10 RepliesMy issue is on my 1999 Vw Golf MK4 2.0 L Automatic is that today I was heading home from my Moms house. I noticed a fuel smell coming from the engine . I was making a turn to head west then the car suddenly turned off while still in motion.. I let the car die completely turned it back on and it eventually turned back on .The check engine light was on I then headed home I also noticed while in 4-5 RPM the car would not have that much pressure . Like it wanted to shut off again .. I was doing some research from similar issues like mine . Someone said to replace my EGR Valve and my Speed sensor.
View 1 RepliesSo I have a 2004 jetta GLI (1.8T) with forge splitter valve and short ram intake. I went and got my codes pulled and all 4 cylinders misfiring and random misfires. I replaced both coil packs and spark plugs. check engine light popped up again after about 20 miles and same thing. I just bought the car so I'm not sure how long it has been running with these misfires. I just got the timing belt replaced. I know it could be off a tooth. (Wouldn't a code pop up though for it?) How could I check that. And I also took my MAF sensor off as well and no change. Heard it could be clogged cat, any way to check? I've also cleaned the throttle body. It runs fine when I'm driving, just a rough idle.
View 15 Replies2005 1.8t gti. so my left blinker bulb went out and it was acting normally for a burnt bulb but then my right blinker started to randomly come on and stay on, my blinker arrow on my dash will stay on but very dimly and when i go over bumps it will click on and off and sometimes stay on then shut off when i go over another bump.
View 2 RepliesI recently replaced my SAI pump rivets with stainless bolts so everything is nice and tight. However, the pump will randomly cut on and run for a few seconds while driving... i notice it usually when I come to a stop, such as at a stop light. I would assume this is because there is an air leak somewhere in the SAI system... sound likely? Maybe purge valve? I haven't yet had it pressure tested in case there is something I can easily to to rule out most potential sources.
View 8 RepliesI believe this fuse has to do with radio and convenience options? 2004 mk4 GLI 1.8t. A few weeks back, the fused popped. I replaced it, and drove fine for a few more weeks. Shut off randomly, so I put a fuse in, try to start, it cranks like usual, but doesnt start. Tried with several different 20a fuses. It pops all of them the second I crank the car. Obviously there is a short somewhere. Where? Or know where fuse 37 goes?
View 2 RepliesNo AC... Its not the fuse box on top of the battery, I recently already changed that. The air coming out is not cold at all, so I checked the pressure, and it was even higher then it was supposed to. After letting some pressure out, still no cold air. What could the issue be? Should I maybe bleed the system?
Also, its a 2001 GLX so I have climatronic....
