So the Jetta developed a new noise lately that sounds just like what can be head on this video.
The spring-clicking kinda noise only happens when i make a sharp right turn at low speed and seems to be coming from the driver's side. So i though bad outer cv joint.
Well, I put on a brand new OEM unit last night and noise is still there.
The other day i noticed that when i make a sharp turn left or right i hear a clicking noise. If the clutch is engaged it clicks and if its not then it does not click. It is also louder when i turn right... I am thinking CV axle!
View 4 RepliesSometime when I make a sharp turn (such as turning out of a parking lot) I hear a "pop or click" noise coming from the front end. I cant tell whether this is normal or not and I wanted to know if this was a sign of anything serious. The car only has 70k miles and is in pretty good shape. Still stock suspension.
View 8 RepliesI'm having 4WD problems with my Yukon, but the dealer keeps telling me there's nothing wrong with it (this has been going on for 2 winters now), which is either code for, "let's wait until it's extended warranty expires, so we don't have to pay for it," or "the computer says nothing is wrong, so that's all we're going to look at." When it's in 4WD, anytime I make a sharp turn or even turn a corner there's a grinding noise in the front, if I try to back up, it will only go as far as one revolution of the tires then stop (I have to take it out of 4WD to backup), eventually the "Service 4WD" light comes on, but apparently nothing gets recorded on the computer. It has 32,000 miles on it.
View 6 RepliesAt 120k miles, my 2003 Camry LE 2.4L started to make some noise when making sharp right turn at low speed (below 5mph) going forward. It sounds like the tire rubbing the fender or somewhere, not metallic, and it's periodic, at 2-3Hz or so. It comes from somewhere on the driver side but I'm not sure. The car doesn't make noise when turning at stop or backing up or going straight, and the noise seems to disappear if turning at higher speed (maybe the turn is not sharp enough).
First I suspect the tire is rubbing the fender. But after inspection, no rubbing marks can be found, and there seems no rubbing when the car is parked and the wheel turn all the way to the right. Then I suspect a bad CV axle. But the boots seem in good shape with no leaking grease, and there's no noise when backing up.
2004 Jeep Wrangler Sport 5-speed Bought used 2yrs ago. 76,000 miles Only seems to happen after driving for more than an hour. When I either back into my driveway or turn sharp into a parking sport, mostly to right, I get a bumping sound, like something rubbing. My mechanic has replaced the sway bar links, front rotors, axle yoke, had a front differential leak so seal was replaced, and am still getting the sound. Tires Bf Goodrich All Terrain Do not do off road.
View 4 RepliesMy nissan sentra 2011 has been displaying this particular problem where it jerks when I make a sharp right turn. It only happens when I've just started the car and once I get it warmed up that problem doesn't happen. It happens randomly too. I hear a clunking noise and I think it might be the gears but could it be something else? The jerking stops when I press the brakes and wait for 1-2 seconds before accelerating again. What would be the worst case and best case scenario.

View 14 Replies09 stx 2wd 4.6L- I have a 2.5'' leveling kit and 33'' bfg a/t tires. The problem is when I make sharp turns, or turn and go over small bumps. Whats happening is something seems to catching or rubbing it kind of jerks towards the opposite of where I am turning and causes the traction control to slow my truck (sucks on tight off-ramps/ u-turns). this happens at pretty much any speed although it gets worse as speed increases. At first I thought it was the steering stoppers but don't have any wear on them, tires do not rub anywhere. My dealer and a local off road shop cant figure it out...

I thought I would be proactive so I bought the front ball joints and have plans to install them but recently I starting hearing (and feeling) a clicking sound in the front LEFT when I make sharp turns to the left and hit small bumps now and again. I jacked up the front end and am able to get 1/4" of movement front to back (top to bottom so not steering) in the wheel.
I narrowed it down to the hub. I took it apart and it is most likely a sealed unit so no adjustment is possible....that I can see.I pulled out the locking hub and got as far as I can to know there is not an adjustment. Need to confirm that it indeed is a sealed bearing and if so what are the part number(s) I may need to repair it.
I have a 2010 Subaru Forester and it has started to make a weird noise when I make slow and sharp turns, like when I am pulling out of a driveway or entering a parking spot. It is not exactly a knocking noise, it is similar to the one when a small piece of rock is stuck on the tire threads, but it is in the center of the car.
View 3 RepliesMy 2003 Jetta GLI was making a terrible grinding/knocking noise when i would turn and occasionally make this "Bong" sound especially when reversing. I took it to my local shop and they say my spring in the front left is "either broken or unattached" and that i need spings/struts. I have like 150k miles on this car so the timing is probably right. So my question is, how much should they charge for this? Also, what should i have them order and install? Im not trying to lower or anything like that, OEM or a slight upgrade is what im looking for....
View 9 RepliesWhen I go really slow like less than 10 mph and turn my wheels, my struts creek and make noise. Lowered on a H&R coilover kit. I bought car with it last year i am second owner so the suspension is getting old. Possibly old as car is installed when 1st owner bought it in 04. i think the struts are just going bad.
View 2 RepliesSo I finally installed my brand new coils in yesterday. I took it for a test drive and noticed a noise coming from the rear struts. It sounds as if the spring is wobbling around, almost like a clicking sound. When I first installed them I installed them without the rear perch, then when I heard the noise I thought it was because I didn't install the perch so I ended up taking my wheels off and installing the perch back in. No luck. It's still making a clicking sound when I'm driving, constantly. I had my friend push down on the rear of the car several times while I look under it, I don't know what it could be.... I also cut my rear bump stop in half. Could that be the issue? I have about 10 threads left on the rear perch before I max out.. The spring is compressed half way. Once again, These coils are brand new.
View 5 RepliesSo my brothers 2003 jetta make a noise after steering one way and then the other while driving around town. We jacked up the car and opened the hood and when I pushed the wheel in and out from the 12 and 6 position the shock and the shock tower had excessive play between each other. I'm no expert so I told him to get a second opinion.
He did and the local shop said it's the strut tower. Just checking if this adds up? I'm pretty good with wrenching, and I saw a u-tube vid on replacing a strut assembly. So, I think I can get it except for the spring compressing.
This noise I have is driving me crazy, installed neuspeed race springs and now I have this weird spring noise, sounds like the springs are binding and then releasing when you turn the wheel, like a clicking dinging noise, it's on both sides and happens when moving slow and turning the wheel and when stationary and turning wheel, it sounds like tug and release not really spring bind I checked install and everything is correct even disassembled bearing assembly and everything is fine, lubed spring seats with silicone paste nothing is working.
When looking at the spring and turning wheel it's almost like the spring is getting stuck on the middle part of the seat then releasing, I know this was a common problem on the mk6 but I haven't heard anything about the mk7 the spring is seated in the lower perch perfectly the upper is were the noise is coming from you can see as you turn the upper bearing by hand it actually somewhat twists the spring and then releases and that's what makes the noise, and it dose not move in a nice circular motion kind of like an egg shaped rotation and it makes the spring flex and pop I think there's a problem with the springs,
I have a 2013 Avalon hybrid that is almost 1 yr old.
I have recently notice a single "pop" noise that seems to be coming from the rear when I turn right with a sharp turn.
I have looked in the trunk and under the vehicle but I cannot find where it is coming from.
I too suffer from the "suspension" noise whenever running over a sharp speed bumper. Today I took some pictures under the bumper, wow, what a mess! I don't think all the solutions people posted on the other post could solve the problem, it's rather a design flaw than an problem. This should be a recall.
View 3 RepliesI just got my 2013 a few months ago and this just started. I'm a little heavier than most people (230lbs), but I don't think that is the problem.
Sometimes when I make a turn (not hitting a bump) or go over a bump, I hear a clicking sound from underneath my seat (towards the rear)... Tried adjusting the seat and messing around with a few settings, but the "clicking" sound persists....?
I have a binding and clicking-ish noise at low speed. Is that a sign of a bad axle?
View 3 RepliesSo I've recently dropped the car with ST coils and during the install, I had the mechanic installed NEW strut mounts and strut bearings because I've heard people having noises if they only do the coils.
However, even with the new strut bearings/mounts, I would hear clicking noises at low speed going in a out the parking spot or parallel parking (not every time but getting close). Therefore, my questions are:
1. If strut bearings/mounts are new and put in at the same time as the coils, what other reasons could there be that's causing this clicking noise?
2. If the noise doesn't bother me and I can live with it, would there be any negative effects for not having this issue taking care of?
