Dropped my car off at Costco for a few hours (New Tires) and when I picked it up, the "unlock" key on my key fob failed to work. The Lock and trunk unlock keys work but the typical unlock (for the doors) doesn't work at all.
View 2 RepliesWent down to the garage at work to get my car and the keyfob unlock button did nothing on the treg. The green light on the button flashed, but no matter how close I was and no matter how many times I pressed the button, nothing happened.
When I opened the door with the key, the alarm went off but starting the car fixed that (I really don't know what buttons on the remote to press to stop the alarm--I've hit panic by accident in my pocket a few times and only after furiously pushing all sorts of buttons on my keyfob has the alarm deactivated... I'm never sure which one did it).
When I got home the first two times I tried to lock the treg nothing happened. Then it locked. Now it seems to work 100%. I had the range fix and my range is quite good.
Yesterday I unlocked my car, drove to work and when I got out, the locking button flashes red on my FOB but it wont lock the doors. The unlock, hatch open and panic all work.
I tried to use my spare fobs, and same deal, all but the unlock works. The power locks work if i press the button inside the car. if i lock the car door manually using the key, it will work, but the dome lights when set to open door lit will not turn off when i lock it.
This is really weird, how I can fix/reset this so I can have the locking function back? Should I disconnect the battery and discharge the system?
My toyota remote starter works great. The problem is when i use the remote starter and then go to get in the car after it warms up the unlock button on the key will not work. i have to unlock the car manually by putting the key in the door. This only happens when use the remote starter. The unlock button on the key works no problem otherwise.
View 1 RepliesYesterday when I pulled in my garage, my 2007 Prius starting locking over and over by itself- it was freaking me out.
In doing some internet research and on here, I realized that my unlock key was “stuck†and could not be pushed in, and I assume this is what was causing the automatic unlocking. I have played around with it, but so far I have not been able to open it up or pop it back in place as some have been able to do.
A couple of questions:
I think this has caused the battery to die on my FOB, because none of the buttons work now, and the red light doesn't flash when a button is pushed. But, the smart key system still works, the doors unlock when I touch the handle, and I can drive the car. Will that continue to work with a dead battery in the key FOB??
What bugs me about this is I NEVER use the buttons on the FOB- always use the smart entry, etc, so I know I didn't do anything to cause the unlock button to stop working...
I did a search and read the manual but I can't seem to figure it out. Is there a way to unlock all of the doors by pushing the unlock button on the key fob once? I see in the manual it can be done I think by turning "remote 2 - press unlock" on in the car settings but it doesn't seem to work. Also am I reading correctly that there are no door unlock sensors on the rear doors? With my LS and my old IS I could touch the rear doors and all of the doors would unlock but this can't be done on the GX?
View 3 RepliesI've been having an issue with my hatch not opening the first several times I press the unlock button on the remote. For reference it's the car door unlock button I'm pressing, not the hatch one as that one has never done anything when I've pressed it.
I thought it was due to the faulty rear view camera I had installed (the emblem pops out) but I just got a new one installed 2 days ago and it's doing the same thing. It's gotten so bad I've had to go open the drivers door and press unlock from inside there to get it open.
I'm wondering if there is a problem with the latch getting stuck or something. I've never had it not close all the way or anything like that which I hear is more common than the issue I'm having. I will take a pic of the pin in the trunk that I'm talking about.
I've been having problems with my unlock on my drivers side recently, it locks on the drivers side but does not unlock, it also locks AND unlocks on the passenger side. It just does not unlock on the drivers side, this has gone off and on sometimes it works, most of the time though it does not at all.
View 3 RepliesTook my mom's new Jetta to the store today and went to unlock the trunk with the fob and it would work. Ended up unlocking the whole car and doing it that way. Tried it again at home and still nothing. The car is brand new and this was the first time using that feature. I've unlocked the trunk on my MKIV using the fob before and no problems. If its something simple, we don't really want to take it to the dealer because people aren't exactly careful.
View 8 Replies2008 Prius, both locks on drivers side failed simultaneously. This was out of the blue. Worked in the morning, and failed in the afternoon and have been feeling ever since. Smart key will not unlock anything. Using the button on the inside of the door only unlocks the passenger side front and rear. In order to unlock the driver side front and rear you have to manually unlock them or lock them. When the button is pressed to unlock the doors, I hear no attempt by the actuators to move. What is causing this? I thought maybe a fuse, but the fuses seem to run all four doors. Could it be a loose wire?
View 5 RepliesI recently purchased a used 2010 GTI with the Autobahn Package, leather seats, Nav, the 510 nav/sound system unit etc. The steering wheel has the button on it that would normally be used to control phone or sound system functions by voice, but when I press it, it acts much like the phone button on the bottom left of the radio/media unit - ie. it mutes the radio, but doesn't do much else. I just wanted to check if that is normal behavior or if the fact that I have that button on my steering wheel mean that it is supposed to function?
View 17 RepliesMy key FOB only electronically unlocks/locks the doors it wont unlock the trunk and i can't actually use the key part to unlock the car or start the car. Is there a way to fix this besides getting a new key from a dealer since that is very expensive.
View 5 RepliesSeveral tries at power button failed. Icon on dashboard (small car image) flashing whether nor not I was in the car. Lights worked and emergency flashers worked. After many tries, called AAA. The AAA driver got in the car and it started right up and has worked ever since. Called dealer. Never heard of such a thing. What happened.
View 1 RepliesSoooo the other day i killed my battery, went to get a jump- and after I was running again, i went to unlock my doors and only my driver side door would unlock via my key fob.
Now, the lock function will lock every door, using my key (in the door) will unlock every door. Hitting the unlock button in my car will unlock every door..... just not from my key fob.
Preliminary information: the vehicle is a 2003 jetta (gli), My drivers door ajar switch is broken and the ccm recognizes it as closed at all times (open circuit), also I was hit in the rear at about 40mph by an f-250 a week after I bought the car and I repaired the damage myself (I am not a body tech). I replaced all electrical components in the trunk as they were all destroyed as well as the trunk lid which has never quite closed the same.
.Key Fob serves no function, (replaced the battery as troubleshooting.)
.If I lock the doors VIA drivers door, passenger door or by key in door, the doors will lock and then immediately unlock.
.It seems to think a door is open even though they are all closed and the overhead lights don't come on like they would if a door was open.
.The door ajar light was on when it first started and the light burnt out after less than an hour in (coincidence? or short? I don't know what circuit to start on).
When holding the key to the lock position the windows should go up and if held to the left to unlock they go down. This rarely works on my car, i can sit there for 10 minutes and try it 100 times but it will only happen twice.

View 1 RepliesI have myself a hatch stuck shut on my wagon. Wont open with the button and the key doesn't turn. The key fob was actually broken when I bought the car leading me to believe it happened while he tried to unlock the stuck hatch.
View 3 RepliesMy car has been in and out of my mechanics with no resolution to my problem.
When I press my AC button, a number of warning dashboard lights on my dashboard turn on, check engine, oil pressure, abs, air bag (pretty sure all of them). Each time this happens, I have my mechanic clear the warning lights in my dash. And no, the AC does not turn on.
I don't have any warning lights on my dash, and driving the car without pressing the AC button for weeks doesn't trigger any warnings. Once the AC is pressed, I get almost all of them, within a minute. The codes that his computer read are failure to communicate signals.
So I was driving just a second ago, stopped to get something and where I was parked I had to leave my hazards running. I had them on for a minute at most and when I got back in the hazard button was smoking. I turned it off and blew in the gap as much as possible.
The smoking stopped. Now neither my hazards or blinkers work. I haven't had a chance to check fuses yet. Wanted to see what people thought or if they'd had similar experience ASAP. Will update with finding when I can.
Are there any settings within the Vag-com to automatically unlock the doors when you shut the car off? They automatically lock, so surely you can make them unlock?
