I get in the car and the light is off. I open the drivers side door and the light wont go on. I am driving and open the door no warning no light. Where the sensor is for the door? I don't have a bently. How to trouble shoot this or diag it?
View 24 RepliesI have a 2002 Wagon and when I open the driver's door the interior lights no long go on. They do go on when I open the passenger door. Occasionally the "door open" warning light goes on as well until I open and slam the driver's door several times.
1. Is this likely to be the sensor?
2. How tough is this to replace?
My interior lights work only when I switch them on but not when the door is opened. Is the switch up near the map light easy to service? Any tricks or shortcuts?
View 3 RepliesWhen I open the driver's door, the car does not register that the door is open: the dome light and other interior lights don't come on, the red alert light inside the door itself doesn't come on, and sometimes my alarm will go off when I start the car because it does not know that the door has been activated properly. When the passenger door is open, all the lights function properly. I'm thinking this is a fuse? Hopefully a simple fix?
View 12 Replies2012 Golf TDI. I'm trying to find the actual part number for the rear, driver's side door panel (door card). I've found some listings for the actual panel but none that provide the part number. It's the one that has the aluminum insert w/o premium audio.

Lately when I first start up and all the lights on the dash come on I see the triangle with the exclamation point (I don't remember seeing this before). It goes off when the rest of the warning lights go off. Today I backed the car out of the garage and put it in park and turned it off. When I opened the dirver door it beeped, beeped, beeped (like it was backing up). I shut the door and opened it again and it beeped again. I got out and locked it and went in the house. I went back out and unlocked it and opened the passenger door and it didn't beep anymore. I haven't tried the driver door yet.
View 4 RepliesDriver's door can't be opened. This 2005 Kia Optima EX has power door locks. It does NOT have rods that you can manually pull up to open it or push down to lock it. There are two ways to lock on unlock all the doors....with rocker switch on the driver's armrest or by pushing or pulling a small "button" located under the inside door latch to lock or unlock the door. When the driver's door gets stuck in the locked position I can hear the electric "actuator" inside the door panel as they lock or unlock the doors.
Using the "button" under the inside door handle doesn't work but if I rock the rocker switch from lock to unlock while my wife pulls on the outside door handle the door will eventually come open. The driver's lock/unlock button is operating incorrectly. When the rocker switch is pressed down to open the door, the button moves all the way back but then moves about about an eighth of an inch forward. The right side door buttons don't do this....they move all the way back or to the open door position and stay there. So, is the actuator in the door bad, is the rocker switch bad, or does= some electrical device, (a solenoid?) etc, bad that is not even located in the door?
I just got new es300h 2015, first day i already noticed noise from hood when driver side door opened, after door closed then opened, noise is gone.
Noise usually happened when car cooled down. I brought this issue to dealer they response its normal in hybrid car. I really doubt explanation.
I've noticed that my overhead lights sometimes turn on when the driver's door is opened and sometimes they do not. (the overhead switch is in the middle "door" position). They work when the passenger door is opened but sporadically with the driver's side.
I haven't had time to RTFM on the MFD lighting selections but is there something that controls this in there? When they did want to work, they would turn on for about a second after the door is opened and then faded out. The only thing I've done recently is the fuel tank recall but this could've been pre-existing and I never picked up on it.

I've tried everything I can think of or find to get them working but the interior lights won't come on automatically. They work if I turn them on manually, or once I'm in if I press the 'door open' button on the lights they will work when the doors are open.
But surely they should come on when the car is unlocked like every other car? It's getting quite annoying getting into a car in total darkness!
I have a 2004 Santa Fe with 327,000+ miles on it (the speedometer doesn't work any longer - another problem).
Last July/Aug (2012) I had the driver window fixed (didn't go up or down) after it was fixed all the interior lights stopped working...dome light, map lights...they will not work automatically by opening a door nor manually. Even the rear hatch light will not turn on. Its not the fuse.
For the last couple of days my interior lights are not turning on until I open the drivers door. My Coming Home and Leaving Home functions are turned off due to the HID Headlights, but the interior lights worked fine since the HID installation in 11/13. It is a 2013 Passat SE 2.5. Is there a setting in VCDS for the interior light function.
View 7 RepliesAs I pulled my car into the garage tonight and put it into Park, I realized the ABS light was on as I opened the door. The car was still on at this point. I then heard a squealing coming from the front of the car. I think the lights surged whenever it would squeal (about every 10 seconds maybe) I began to smell that something was getting hot in the front of the car and quickly shut it off. What the possible source of this could be?

View 4 RepliesI recently purchased a 2011 Ford Edge with the My-Touch control system. I am planning on taking it to music festivals where I "camp" in and around my vehicle. Some of the lights go on every time a door or hatch is opened. As I am in and out of the vehicle day and night, is there a way to disable this feature?. I ask mostly because of lights bothering me and others, but am a little concerned about battery drain. It could be up to a week without starting or driving. I do turn the headlights off, but others (inside and out) come on.

1.My rear dome lights work when manually turned on. They do not come on when the door is opened. However, the front dome lights do.
2.The lights on my side mirrors turn blink when using the turn signal, and when hitting the lock/unlock/remote start buttons. They do not work when driving around with my head lights on.
So I have an 03 wolfsburg, when my car is on and I open either the front driver or front passenger door the lights on the interior don't come on. Is this normal? I could have sworn they did before and on my 01 1.8t GLS, but if I open the any of the rear doors the lights come on...
I just got an LED interior kit, but haven't got it in the mail yet, so it is still on the stock bulbs from the factory, is it a dual filament bulb that just needs replacing?
My 2011 Toyota Matrix (with Moon roof) driver side interior light won't turn off. It's in the off position. I've checked all doors and closed them properly and turned the dimmer switch down.
