I have a vacuum leak on the driver side seal on the changeover rod in the intake manifold. It was replaced recently at the dealer and now has another hole in it. I was told this is caused by oil in the lines and my pcv valve is bad.
View 1 RepliesI noticed pool of oil yesterday morning, felt engine oil has leaked. Did oil change as it was due, the mechanic said the leak doesn't seem big enough, still overnight there was again lot of oil leaked, I kept a pan below to capture it. Checked it at auto shop near me and they said it is transmission fluid leak and probably due to driver side axle seal leak. I am going to take it again tomorrow to fix. How much do you think it will cost to fix if this is right diagnosis? This is 2005 4 cyl Ford escape with 150k on it. As per them if it is axle leak it will probably more of labor (2 hrs) than seal price.

I'm on the of my Latin. If I pull the throttle short and raise the rpm I hear a loud air soak. But I can't locate it. Can be the egr, lower intake upper intake or fuel interceptor. I begin to hate the car.
I was using the method of spraying starter fluid around the intake and found a pretty significant vacuum leak around the throttle shaft on the drivers side. The carb is a 2 barrel holley. What are some different ways to seal a throttle shaft vacuum leak? Could I take it apart and seal it with a plastic O-ring for now?
View 2 RepliesI've noticed my oil level dropping very slowly, but more rapidly than normal. It seems to have picked up a bit recently and when I was at a friend's house and parked in his garage, in a half hour I had two nickle-sized oil spots under my car. They are more towards the driver side. The spots had some space in between them, which leads me to believe the oil is coming from up above and it is hitting something on the way down to send it in separate directions.

View 6 RepliesSo i parked my car in the garage cause it was supposed to snow over night, well pull out this morning and there was a small wet spot, when to inspect it and it was oil, colorless, it came from front driver side, something is leaking, I popped the hood and looked down and i can see oil on plastic, on the bottom of the engine bay, where is this coming from? no light are on, and oil levels are all good? its a 2012 gti with 31k miles on it....

I thought "ok" I checked for leaks later and found a pink almost clear liquid dripping from underneath the driver's side. It doesn't smell like anything but I figure it must be coolant though the coolant tank levels seem about right.

View 2 RepliesI do believe my a/c drain is plugged and wetting my passenger side carpet with water. I pulled my floor mat the other day to vacuum and noticed the carpet was wet underneath the weather tech floor mat. No water on top of the mat. It must be leaking down inside of firewall and under the mat.
My guess is I need to find the drain hose and un-plug it with weed cutter line or re-route the tube. I leave for a work trip tomorrow and don't have time to take it to the stealer. I have to run A/C the whole time so I know it will get wet again. I have today and tomorrow to figure it out.
PS - no rain here for months so I know it isn't the door seal leak. I have had the a/c on 24/7 all summer.
Have had the puppy about a month. Getting about 31+ on the Hwy. Anyhoo for the real story, we got home today and noticed that there was a seal around the the sunroof, well on the driver side that was loose. Sort of a flex/accordion type. The other side didn't have one. Not sure, but it looks like it folds over to the outside under the slide track, but not sure. The other side is gone.

View 4 RepliesSo I have a 2004 Hyundai Elantra 5 speed. The driver side cv axle seal started leaking a few months ago and I finally got around to repairing it. Everything went relatively smooth until I got to replacing the seal...
The problem is, it will NOT fit over the cv axle. It just won't. When the seal is installed, not matter how much force I put on the axle it will not go in. Also, I even pulled the seal back out and tried to put it onto the axle out of the car and there is no way it is going on. This is the third seal (done the rounds to through the big name parts stores) and no go.
Now, some quick car back story, I generally do all of my own repairs, but over the winter in the midst of a family tragedy I had a friend (professional mechanic with a shop) do a bunch of work to the car. He replaced the boot and joint that goes into the transmission (he did not replace the entire cv axle assembly for some reason). What I am beginning to think is that he replaced it with the wrong part.
Now, what I am wondering, is this even possible? Is it possible that it could fit and work perfectly yet be wrong? This also appears to be what broke the original seal. The inner portion of the seal was totally blown out in a circle, but perfectly, like it was crushed or cut out, and I am wondering if this happened due to having extreme force applied to it (possibly when he reinstalled it?)
That, or is it just extremely difficult / next to impossible to get these seals on? Even with both parts out of the car, stretching and pushing down on the seal (oiled it up as well to see if that would work) with all my might yields no results.
The leak was not there for the first month or so that I got the car back and then showed up. I have put about 5k miles on the car since I got it back. With Monday quickly approaching, I am wondering if I should just blow the crap out of my budget and pick up a new cv axle? I could at least have them pull one and let me see if the seal fits, I suppose.
I suspected I had a vacuum leak somewhere, was told it wasn't likely. Just installed a tune in the evening drove it 15 miles was pretty sure I had one.
Installed Forge DV the next morning it was evident I had one by the sound the DV was Making. I checked the car head to toe and found two lines had broken apart. I replaced them will silicone lines and it appeared to be fixed.
Drove it 5 miles and the 'turkey sound' came back. (This is the sound that I originally heard and confirmed I had a vacuum leak somewhere)
I searched all over there car, had a second set of eyes that was mechanically inclined and we found nothing obviously causing a problem. We ended up just taking off the Forge DV and testing it by hand it held up and re installing it and securing it.
Strange enough that fixed the problem (no other hoses were tampered with while we were inspecting)
Drove the car home about 15 miles and stopped in a drive through. At some point while sitting something happened. Cause when I left the drive through then I noticed the car seemed to be lacking at low end, turned down the music and I could hear the turkey call. I left the car alone for the night. Thought maybe heat jas a factor in this. Drove it this morning and it was just how I left it. I inspected the hoses and found no change. I took the DV off and inspected then re installed. I noticed the turkey call was not as predominant but still completely present.
I have a 2004 camry with 107k miles. The power drivers window makes a pop when leaving the seal. I have cleaned out the track, lubricated with silicone spray, but this did not solve the problem.
When I put a little pressure on the top of the window with my hand it comes down fine without popping.
I am thinking it may be a track issue. It appears the window is shifting 1/4-1/2 " to the front just before it contacts the seal.
Headlight fogging up after car wash or rain.
Driver side window seal folds over badly, wind noise is evident.
Passenger side lumbar broken .
And finally. The front jerk when applying brakes. It's not there in the morning, gets worse as you start driving, feels like strut bar bushings, but all of the control arms were changed in February. Having a tech join me for a ride to show this problem to him. I'm staring to think it's either caliper, or brake actuator.
Just had the driver window glass replaced. This is the second repair as the first guy just glued it and I think he partially detached the outer window seal. Is there a way to glue it back or does it need to be replaced? Is that something I could do. Now that I've seen videos, I could have replaced the window glass myself.....
View 5 RepliesSo as the title says the sunroof in my 2000 Jetta is leaking. I've taken down a, b, and c pillars, and the headliner. Poured water in the drain tray and no noticeable leak.. however when I spray it with the hose, the water overflows over the drain tray at the drain ends and into the car like Niagara falls. I've check all the connections, pinched open the plugs. I've already replaced the sunroof seal, which was noticeably shrunken. The new one fits snug all around but I'm still getting the leak. The water (from what i can tell) over flows the tray, runs down the headliner to the drivers side C pillar and then down into the trunk where the cd changer / safety kit was. I usually park uphill, and the one time I parked down hill and sprayed it with the hose the water was "Niagara falling" into my passenger seat.
