Do we suffer from this clunking noise as well? I know I have rattles and things that make noise over bumps and humps in the road. But is this what I hear?

Noticed a squeak noise from the rear suspension when going over big bumps or humps, even going in or out tall driveways?
View 14 RepliesThere is a clunking noise coming from the rear of the car. Not a metal on metal sound. Sounds like its more on the passengers side. I replaced the swaybar linkage ends since they were a little loose and thought it was that. Nope...I have H&R coilovers, they are about 5 years old. Can't imagine they be shot this soon. Had someone drive my car while i was behind the R and the rear wheels aren't dancing at all, a common sign of a blown shock. Push down on the car, shocks still respond like they did from day one. I've put the car up on a lift, both sitting and wheels dangling. With the wheels dangling, I grabbed onto the shocks to see if there was any play in the upper shock mounts, solid. Looked under the whole car for loose plastic covers. Can not see anything loose. I made sure everything inside the hatch, including the battery is sitting snug.
The clunk happens over bumps, with or without the brakes on and is loud enough that if the radio is on, it can still be heard.

View 24 RepliesI am experiencing a bad clunking noise when going over bumps. Its comming from the passenger rear and I am assuming the springs collapsed. How can i tell for sure? The car is sitting a little lower on the corner. Is it bad to drive the car with the spring in this condition?
View 8 RepliesI am losing my mind over this. I bought a 2013 c63 in May and the last few months it has been making this clunking noise. I have taken it to the dealership 3 times so far and each time the noise goes away for about a week only to return worse than it was. It used to only make noises when I turned right on incline changes at low speeds. Now it makes the noise going over any bump at any speed.
The first time I took it in they replaced the front left strut. The second time they replaced the front right strut. The third time they replaced the lower control arm.
I am posting 2 videos of the noise. This video is between the first and second visits and the noise can be heard around the 24 second mark.

This second video was taken today, 2 weeks after my third visit. You can hear the noise continuously throughout the video on any slight bump.

So I finally decided to look into all the little creaks and rattles that the R makes while going over bumps in the road.
-Wrapped the latches of the rear seats in electrical tape, and put adhesive velcro (soft side) on the back of the seats where it meets plastic.
-Took apart the center console and put adhesive felt around the areas where plastic makes contact with other plastic
-Put adhesive felt inside the aluminum trim & Monsoon radio to stop shaking
So all those little fixes eliminated most of the rattling sounds in the car. All that I need to look into are the driver and passenger doors to secure whatever is rattling/shaking inside those panels. Something to do this coming week. I normally would leave these noises alone, but damn they drive me crazy like it's a form of Chinese water torture. I hope to have no more rattles in the following week.
Aside from the clutch and gear changing noise, recently I've been noticing something that sounds almost like a rattle when going over bumps, say a series of filled potholes on a highway where they just slightly bump to move your wheel around, it's not that deep thumping you would expect to hear but it sounds like something is loose in terms of the suspension.
Happens on the front and seems like its coming from both sides. To me it sort of sounds like they forgot to tighten something up when they removed the shipping "blocks"/spacers, but I am not exactly sure what to check. I really do not want to visit the dealership at only 600 miles on the clock ...
Have a 2011 SE with just over 21k miles on it.
Problem #1: When ever I go over bumps, go down my drive way, I hear this rather loud noise coming from either the roof or right rear. It sounds like someone is hitting metal with a hammer.
It happens when I'm turning the wheel or just driving straight.
Problem #2: Also when I am going over a speed bump, when the rear of the car goes over it, the suspension gets squeaky. Speeds are about 2-3 mph~
Unfortunately, it is no longer under factory warranty so taking it to the dealer is my last option.
I got a few questions. First one is how hard would it be to swap the auto trans out for a manual and what would I need. Secondly, have some weird boost issue, boost gauge use to read 5 psi with front mount now its at 2 psi and their are no leaks in the IC system.. can't figure out what it is (turbo only has 3k miles on it) final question what causes a clunking noise every time i go over bumps and curbs?

this noise start like 4 month ago. I have taken the car to two mechanics and they weren't able to find where the noise is coming from. i suppose that the problem isnt really that tricky.
is kind hard to describe the nature of the sound.
mostly happen when i go over broken road or bumps where the suspension have to move up and down a little but very quickly

I've replaced the Strut bushings that were collapsed, the control arm bushings that had play and the noise is still there. There is no play in the links. There is a slight noise in the sway bar bushings when struck with a rubber mallet. I hate to keep replacing parts chasing down this noise.
View 9 RepliesI've got a 2012 F250 SD and when i go over some bumps in the road or even down a gravel road, the door panel on the driver side vibrates and it's noisy. Is there any way to pull the panel and add some foam padding or something to stop this? I can see the panel vibrate or heck, maybe it the whole door.
View 10 RepliesSo my several month old Prius II has developed a metal on metal sound when I'm hitting various road bumps.. it's a "clack" sound emanating from my wheel well area that is heard when the windows are down.. I've taken it in twice and the first time they couldn't figure it out... second time they said they drove mine and a brand new Prius which also has the same sound and said it was the brake calipers. Funny thing is, I never heard this noise until after about 2k miles on my car.. They also would NOT disable my reverse beep sound or seat belt beep saying it was a safety feature and shouldn't be disabled.
View 19 RepliesSo I was driving home from work today and picked my daughter up from the sitters. When I got back in the car I noticed a "clunking" noise when I would hit small bumps. Trying to figure it out, I also noticed this occur when driving straight and moving the steering wheel back and forth.
The car is a 2012 SE v6 with about 26k on it.
I did install eibach springs about a month ago, but have not had any issues until now. I took both front wheels off and checked anything I would have changed when installing the slings and everything seems okay.
So about a month ago my 2013 Sonata GLS started to make some clunking noise going over the littlest bumps over the road from the front end on both right and left side.
I brought it to one mechanic and they said the rack and pinion needs replacing which is an expensive fix. I couldn't believe that was the problem as I had no leaks and it was on their solid. I ended up taking it to my uncles mechanic and he stated its the stabilizer links on the front right and front left wheels. My way to work has a lot of bad pot holes... so I'm hoping that the stabilizers are actually the problem.
Anyways, tomorrow I will be bringing it to the mechanic to have them both changed. I know a lot have been complaining about this issue and instead of replacing the rack and pinion, I thought I'd try and see if it actually is the stabilizer links and provide a fix for some of the sonata owners on here.
I've got a '94 Mazda miata which is in good shape, with among other things a fair number of suspension upgrades. It drives really well, other than the clunk. On the occasional bump it clunks as if something is loose on the driver's side rear. I've checked the shocks, springs, jacked it up and inspected everything I can think of. I'm looking for wisdom from your decades of experience (in your terms wasted time) on what it might be.
View 3 RepliesI need to replace the rubber axle bumper guards. I have a clunking noise from the left front going over bumps. Troubleshooting I found the left front axle bumper guard is missing, right side is missing chunks and dry rotted. I had a question about how they attach. The one that is missing looks like a rusted bolt snapped off. Is it safe to assume a bolt goes right thru the center of the bumper guard into the frame? Couldn't tell on the right side it is in bad shape. Right front bolt may have sheared off on the bottom and just held in on the top by what is left.
View 5 RepliesSo i just had installed a brand new set of bilsetin pss9. Going over bumps or pot holes at a slow speed, i get loud clunking out the back. Did not have this prior to the coilovers. Its dropped almost 3/4 of the thread. What this is? Also the shop that installed them, had put them in with out the rear upper spring plate, is that a standard install on these?
