So I'm at the dealership because my brakes have been squeaking at low speeds for the last two months. They measured the rotor thickness and checked the pads and calipers. Their response is that this is a common problem in Texas humidity with the type of brake pads that are used. Apparently almost everyone is dealing with this.
New pads or to shave my rotors are not covered under warranty.
My moms GX 470 squeaks a lot at lower speeds and when pressing on the brakes. She's taken it to the repair shop twice, they said they tried replacing the brakes and they were still squeaking. It has to be something around the wheels cause thats where the sound is coming from.

I have the TyrolSport Brake Caliper stiffening kit on my R. My brakes were squeaking and I had not greased the pins in a bit so I thought that might be the issue. When I went to grease them, I notice one pin was completely loose. It was my driver front lower. I greased it and tightened it back up. That was maybe 2 -3 week ago. I checked again on Friday before my track day on Saturday and the same pin was lose. Not all the way like last time, but not locked tight. This one pin is the only one that seems to have issues. The other three are rock solid.
View 6 RepliesSo I just installed the Porsche Cayenne 18Z calipers onto my GTI. The install went great but now when I go around corners at speed there's a squeaking sound that comes from the brakes. I tried to epoxy the hub centric ring onto the rotor and grease up the outside of the hub where the rotor sits, but it's still squeaking.

Sounds similar to the post from AMI for the front suspension because it can also be heard pushing car up and down, jacking it up, and rocking back and forth while tightening lug bolts. View 8 RepliesOK here's a new one (for me anyway). My Reg started to produce a squeaking noise from the chassis. I can't tell exactly where its coming from (yet) but it seems to occur mostly at slow speeds. I can reproduce the noise by driving over a speed bump or making a slow speed turn. I suspect an exhaust hanger as it seems to happen front and rear. I cannot reproduce it by bouncing on the corners of car though.
View 3 RepliesI drive a 2002 4-dr 1.6 L Accent and there is a strange, high-pitched squeaking that comes about from somewhere under the car at very slow speeds (30 mph or below). If I hit the brakes, the noise continues sometimes as the car slows. (The noise isn't the brakes, though, I know that), but if I hit the gas pedal slowly, the noise stops. Whatever is vibrating underneath doesn't seem to be causing a problem at high speeds. Or I just can't hear it.
Secondly, I am going to try to do some tune-ups for the summer for lack of better things to do, mostly, I can pretty much do anything (intake/exhaust, engine, electrical) as long as I can find detailed instructions.
I bought a 2010 prius 3 weeks ago and a squeaking sound came out after driving it for a week. The sound is like a wooden bed not screwed tight being shaken. My prius has 40000 miles on it and the warranty has expired already. I brought it to a toyota dealership and they could not find where the noise is coming from. I decided to bring it back to the dealership I bought it from and they also could not determine where its coming from. They said they need more time to find it. The squeaks often comes out in wavy roads and bumps and in both low and high speeds.
View 11 RepliesI'm having horrible squeaking/creaking noises coming from the front drivers side area of my car. I can hear it inside the car with windows up or down. Not sure if you can hear it from the outside or not. It is only when going over bumps or uneven road surfaces at low speeds. If I'm even going like 40mph and there is uneven surface I don't hear anything. It's 85 degrees today, and I notice it has gotten worse with the hotter temps. I just purchased the car a few months ago when it was still winter, and only recall it gradually doing this as the weather has warmed up.
The weirdest thing is that my previous sunfire (also a 2002), made the same exact noise, but never did get it checked out because the head gasket blew and I got rid of it. I tried pushing on the front end while it's parked to see if it makes the noise, but I didn't hear the slightest chirp, unless I'm just not strong enough to give a good enough push. What could be wrong? I don't wanna throw a whole lot of money into it not being sure what it is, and I have read a lot of horror stories of mechanics trying to pinpoint noises and still not being able to find the culprit thousands of dollars later. 2002 Sunfire GT....
I have had my 1998 Mazda B2500 truck since 2000 and this problem comes and goes (it's mostly been gone lately). Usually when it is cold outside. At slow speeds it creaks and squeaks - kinda embarrassing - if I am sitting still it squeaks when I turn the steering wheel. Once the speed picks up you can't hear it. I have noticed this in other fords about the same year.
View 1 RepliesI have had my RC-F since November and two days after having it the brakes have been squeaking. I had thought that It would work its way out just had figured since it was new it had to work its way off of the brake pads. I have 1100 Miles on it now and it is still squeaking.
View 14 RepliesSo my front brakes are squeaking pretty damn bad, and I'm pretty sure that I need to replace them. However, with the history that we have with the rears wearing faster than the fronts, and since neither have been replaced in 30K miles.
I don't want to have to come back and go at it again, and would rather spend one day then two getting the job done. .
We bought my wife's V8 2005 Treg new in December of 2006. It had sat on the lot of the dealership with several others so they were doing what they could to get rid of them. Anyway, it has been awesome, with a few electronic issues, but the one problem that will not go away deals with the brakes. They squeak all of the time and the Treg only has 13,000 miles. It seems that it goes away right after a carwash, or if I intentionally brake very hard. The dealership has inspected the brakes and states that nothing is wrong and that this just happens.
View 10 RepliesMy 2013 gs 350 f sport sounds like a school bus. I already replace the front pads with a new set of oem pads and had them resurface the disk too. after a couple of hours the noise came back! seems like my lexus dealer can't solve my issue.

View 1 RepliesBought my Prius about 14 months second hand . Despite 112 checks or whatever, within a few months the brakes were grinding. I took it to a local garage and they said the pads were worn to near nothing and replaced them all. They said I had scoring on the rear brake discs, so I replaced them too.
I got really back noise with the front brakes every time I used them after a few weeks. Took it back. Was told that the front discs needed replaced (and off course the front pads again). It was soon back to noisy and they replaced the front pads for nothing. The problem went away for a few days, then returned, but only a very low speed braking (or when putting the final squeeze.)
That garage tried a few things, then said it was my heaving braking glazing the pads, so they roughed them up. Problem hadn't gone. Add to this that the non-moving parts are really rusty looking, it looks naff.
Well, I took it to Kwik Fit having had some time to save some money for a proper fix. They would be happy to replace all discs and pads, but it'd cost abit. Called Toyota, they cost about the same. I left my car with Toyota yesterday pointing out the problem and a few other things I wanted fixing. I made it clear I felt the brake discs and pads were 'crap' and not Toyota and wanted them replaced. They said they'd inspect and do what was necessary.
Well, I've new windscreen wipers, they sorted out a separate problem and cleaned out the front brakes. According to Toyota there is nothing to stop those parts of the brake disc that aren't moving from rusting. They also said the discs and front pads were fine. Well, that squeaky noise is still there.
Why, after practically begging, did they not just replace everything? Is there any other possible explanation for the low braking speed squeak? Why don't brake discs not come with those parts not in contact with the brake pads painted so they won't rust?
I have a 2012 Touareg TDI Lux which I absolutely love for so many reasons. Since almost day one my brakes squeek when I back up only. I now have 6200 miles on my vehicle and it drives me nuts. It can be wet, dry, backing up fast or slow and it shrieks.
Just dropped by my local dealer and was told it is something to do with the pads seating which is BS after 6200 miles.
I have a 2007 Volkswagen Jetta with 78K miles. The brakes are squeaking, so I am assuming that the front brake pads need to be replaced. The front brake pads were replaced in 2010 (I don't remember the mileage).
