IS F (2008-2014) :: 2013 - Suspension Is Too Stiff?

May 31, 2015

I just got a 2013 a few months back. Love the car but the only thing that bugs me is the stiff suspension. I heard the 11 and 12 cars have softer suspensions and they stiffen it up again for the 13s? I'm not planning to track the car much if at all? Stock 11 or 12 springs? Aftermarket?

Santa Fe (DM - 2013+) :: Harsh Ride And Stiff Suspension

Didn't notice this on the test drive, but as soon as I started living with my Santa Fe (about 3-4 weeks now) I can't believe how harsh and rough the ride is. Very very uncompromising over all road irregularities - even those you can't even really see. 2013 Santa Fe Sport?

It's so bad I've been searching for aftermarket struts and shocks to replace what must be garbage OEM parts - but nothing seems to be available for it yet.

Camry 2012+ :: 2014.5 SE V6 Suspension Is Stiff Especially Over Rough Roads

I picked up a 2014.5 SE V6 a month ago and the car has been great overall. But the suspension is stiff especially over rough roads as many of you already know.

I've searched around and there's talk about swapping strut/shock parts with an LE/XLE or different tires but I can't find how much of a difference it made.

BTW, the tires are new Yokohama Avid Envigors.

Touareg :: Rear Suspension Seems Really Stiff

Can't say I noticed it on the test drive but when we went to Costco last weekend and drove slowly over the speed bumps it seemed like the rear suspension had no give in it at all. Also noticed it whilst out driving tonight.

Toyota - Camry :: Suspension Is Too Stiff

After driving our 2015 Camry XSE for the last year, we feel the suspension is too stiff. I guess it is for the "sport" crowd, but we do not like feeling bumps on 3 to 5-hour road trips. What is the best approach to softening the suspension? The dealer says they can put in suspension components from the XLE for a couple grand. What should I focus on to soften the ride, shocks, struts, springs?

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: 2009 - Suspension Feels Stiff

I bought the car in Nov. It's now pushing 90k miles. From getting to know the car to me the suspension feels stiff. Front and rear for the most part. I need to put new tires on it and i'm sure that contributes somewhat to quality/feel and road noise.

However, (and it seems to be getting worse) when going over bumps in the road I can almost hear a prominent clunking noise from the rear. It's not extremely loud but I can tell it's there. Like I said it's not very loud but too me something back there is going out. I'm not sure what kind of suspension is back there.

IS F (2008-2014) :: Squeaks Coming From The Suspension

I recently noticed that I start hearing some tiny squeaks coming from the suspension somewhere when I get on or off the car, or rock the car from the inside. I have a 2011 with 70k miles, always been a CA car.

IS F (2008-2014) :: Squeaking Suspension Over Large Bumps And Dips?

When going over large bumps and dips I'm hearing a very high pitched squeaking noise coming from the rear end. Over small bumps I hear nothing, it's only the large bumps where I hear the squeak.

Lexus GX 2004-09 :: 2005 GX470 Stiff Ride - Rear Suspension Woes

I've had the stiff ride issue with my 2005 gx470. Took it to three lexus dealers and finally the vehicle is fixed. Hats off to Lexus of Maplewood, St Paul, MN. Their shop foreman persisted and found after several days troubleshooting; a speed sensor was the culprit. My ride is much smoother over speed bumps without the need to cycle through the height adjustment.

IS F (2008-2014) :: Uneven Suspension Feel When Turn Hard Left Vs Right

I have noticed an uneven feel ( slightly ) when I turn hard left vs right. Its firmer when I turn to the left than the right. From the magazine issues I used to read when I look at directional skid pad results the right turn skid pad results are always lower than the left turn because of the weight of the driver.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Suspension Is Too Stiff To Push Down / Shudder At Freeway Speeds

I have a 2006 F250 Lariat CC FX4. I bought the truck with 68,000 miles about 3 months ago. This is my first 4WD and I'm wondering if I need shocks.

I know how to check on a car but this suspension is too stiff to push down a corner so how do you test? Or do you just go by the age? At freeway speeds when I hit a bump I get a bit of a shudder that makes me wonder if the axle is hopping.

If I were to replace them are the Rancho shocks OK for a replacement? I will spend very little time off road and mostly use this truck for boat towing and hope to buy a travel trailer down the road.

IS F (2008-2014) :: Rattling Noise From Suspension / Clunk Or Slight Jerk When Shift Into First Gear

I recently got my 09 ISF and had a few questions pertaining to some noises I'm hearing. Of course I'm hearing the ticking from the motor but until it causes any issues I can live with it.. My real questions deal with

A: When I go over a bump such as a pot hole cover or something that makes my suspension articulate quickly at low speed, I hear a rattling noise from what seems like the suspension / hub. If it makes any difference in on 2012 shocks and soft springs. (my extended warranty is kicking in soon so I hope that it doesn't play a roll in it as I'm sure they will be quick to deny it)

B: When I am coming to a stop or slowing down and the car shifts into first on its own (I think only in manual mode) there is a clunk / slight jerk sometimes... It may be coming from the rear end? Is it some type of locking or unlocking that's going on?

Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: 2013 SE Won't Start - Brake Is Stiff

87k miles with no problems ever. I was driving on the highway last night and next thing you know I lost the engine/power and all the dash lights came on so I pulled over and after the dash lights stopped kind of flickering I could not start the car back up. I tried all the tricks I read about...holding the start button in for 30 seconds, rocking the car to loosen brakes, etc and still car wont start. I have a new battery and car was just serviced last week. Oil is good. Radio and all electronics work fine. Brake light comes on when depressed but its stiff. I tried a code reader on it and its generating zero codes.

Lexus ES 2013+ :: No Power / Brake Stiff And Shift Locked In Parking Position

Mine is a 2015 ES350. I drove it normally on last Friday. Today Monday morning, the car can't be started. Other symptoms are no any lights, stiff brake, shift locked in parking position, no clank with a jump starter.

The battery connection is tight; I also tried both keys and holding it right next to the start button. It seems like the car system is shut down.

I may call AAA to tow to dealer. However, the shift is in parking mode. Is there any way I can override the shift to N?

Honda Accord :: 2014 I4 CVT - Tight Steering And Stiff Brake Boost / RPM Fluctuates On Cold Start

My 2014 Accord i4 CVT has 7000miles and it has acted a little strange ever since I pushed it to 3500rpm at Sport mode and then I maybe abruptly shifted it to Drive mode, at which point it made some whining noise shortly. But don’t get me wrong, acceleration was gentle and I don’t ever beat a car.

Since that incidence, it idles at 1500rpm upon cold start at P and fluctuates between 1000rpm and 1100rpm after it warms up a little bit (still in Park). When on stop (brake) on D, it has slight rough idle that periodically comes and goes, which gets better when the A/C is off but not completely resolves. Acceleration is sluggish and lagging, and it has some “dragging/sluggish” feel on coasting as well. When braking, it takes more effort and brake feels stiffer as if it lacks some break boost. Also, the electric power steering gets heavy/tight (I think this could be more of a sensor/input problem rather than the motor).

All these symptoms come and go together except for the fluctuating idle upon cold start, which is persistent. Gently pushing gas at 1200 rpm for, say 10 seconds, tend to “free” the tight steering wheel, and car starts to act more normally with better coasting and acceleration, and more responsive brake for a while. And problem comes back. Also, turning off the A/C seems to make the car act behave notably better but I am cautious of this point since it is known that Honda’s A/C system really takes away the engine power.

I had the dealer shop check for vacuum leak. The report says “check idle, check idle control, check for vacuum leaks ok, check or any codes, checks ok”, basically saying there is no vacuum leak. But I think it is still possible that they missed something. Dealer shops and some independent shops I visited aren’t so willing to figure out what is going on, and I basically need to ask them “check this and check that”.

So I have a 2006 f150 a wile back the steering started going stiff when I would come off the highway. so after some forum searching, I decided to buy a new steering shaft to repace the universals that see up. then the pump started squealing when we turned befor I could install the new shaft. so I replaced the pump and didn't put the new steering shaft in yet. now when I rev the motor past 2000 RPM the pump wines like when you turn the weeks to far to one side on an old truck and it is still stiff when I come off the highway. Could this be the rack

Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: Tight / Stiff Steering At Times?

So our 2006 f150 fx4 has been having an issue with stiff steering... at times like it doesn't have power steering at all.

We recently had the lower ball joints on both sides replaced. Before that the upper control arm on the drivers side was also replaced.

There are days that it is better... other times not so much.

Lexus GS 2006-11 :: 2008 GS350 Intermittently Dies / Brakes Feels Stiff

About 15x now over the last year, I get in the car, press the brake, the green light comes on and half way through the start-up, the car locks up. Dead, nothing. The brake feels stiff, the key fob will not open the trunk, nor will it lock or unlock the doors, no more green or orange light on the start button. Completely dead.

The last time I opened the door, closed it again and everything reset. It came back "alive", the navigation system rebooted, the air was off and my clock had been reset.

Some days this happens in a matter of a minute or two and other days it takes ten min. Why? Is it a faulty ground? Not sure why it would automatically reset on its own.

Santa Fe (DM - 2013+) :: Squeaking Noise From Rear End - Suspension?

Rear end Suspension noise, '13 Santa Fe Sport 2.0T? I purchased a new '13 Santa Fe Sport 2.0T in Sept. 2013. Shortly after I noticed the rear end of the car creaks/squeaks when the suspension compresses thru it's travel. This happens when driving over tall speed bumps at 2-3mph or into/out of steep driveways at 2-3mph. Rear end noise/squeak at anytime?
