I picked up a 2014.5 SE V6 a month ago and the car has been great overall. But the suspension is stiff especially over rough roads as many of you already know.
I've searched around and there's talk about swapping strut/shock parts with an LE/XLE or different tires but I can't find how much of a difference it made.
BTW, the tires are new Yokohama Avid Envigors.
I just got a 2013 a few months back. Love the car but the only thing that bugs me is the stiff suspension. I heard the 11 and 12 cars have softer suspensions and they stiffen it up again for the 13s? I'm not planning to track the car much if at all? Stock 11 or 12 springs? Aftermarket?

I guess it is for the "sport" crowd, but we do not like feeling bumps on 3 to 5-hour road trips. What is the best approach to softening the suspension? The dealer says they can put in suspension components from the XLE for a couple grand. What should I focus on to soften the ride, shocks, struts, springs?
View 14 RepliesSo I've been hearing this vibration rattle or buzzing noise... on rough roads and overpasses in southern California. I've uploaded a video clip. At 4 seconds I enter the overpass... and you can hear the buzzing noise from 6 seconds to 9 seconds, you might need to raise the volume.
Is this a normal noise from overpasses? My old cars didn't do this. Also I can't tell where it's coming from, maybe the rear upper area or who knows, could be the license plate for all I know.

I have a 2012 Camry LE with about 85K KM and had my alignment done and noticed that my steering feels very stiff. When i turn it left or right I can feel it very stiff. I never thought much about it until I drove my dad's 2014 Camry which has 10K KM on it and the steering is much smoother and feels lighter. We both have the Michelin Primacy MXV4 tires and my tire pressure is around 35 psi or slightly less.
Is it normal for the steering to feel tight? When I drive the car, there is no vibration and is very smooth. I don't feel like it pulls (it never did even without it). Should I take it back to the dealer to have it looked at?
When ever my Camry its a rough road the trunk rattles like their is something moving around in it, however there is nothing in the trunk, I checked to make sure the spare was secure and it is. What could be the problem?

View 6 RepliesI own a 2015 camry SE - 4k miles on it. Right from the second month I felt like the brake was stiffer and I always felt like I am going to rear end the vehicle in the front. Last one month it became really worst. The pedal feels lot stiff and I have to press hard to bring to a complete stop. Brake is not very responsive. I feel like its still rolling even after applying the brakes and I have to apply the brake very hard to come to a stop. It looks to me like there is a response delay between applying brake pedal and actual stop. I used to drive a Civic and this is my first Toyota so I am not sure whether this issue is common in camry.
View 6 RepliesCan't say I noticed it on the test drive but when we went to Costco last weekend and drove slowly over the speed bumps it seemed like the rear suspension had no give in it at all. Also noticed it whilst out driving tonight.
View 3 RepliesI bought the car in Nov. It's now pushing 90k miles. From getting to know the car to me the suspension feels stiff. Front and rear for the most part. I need to put new tires on it and i'm sure that contributes somewhat to quality/feel and road noise.
However, (and it seems to be getting worse) when going over bumps in the road I can almost hear a prominent clunking noise from the rear. It's not extremely loud but I can tell it's there. Like I said it's not very loud but too me something back there is going out. I'm not sure what kind of suspension is back there.
Didn't notice this on the test drive, but as soon as I started living with my Santa Fe (about 3-4 weeks now) I can't believe how harsh and rough the ride is. Very very uncompromising over all road irregularities - even those you can't even really see. 2013 Santa Fe Sport?
It's so bad I've been searching for aftermarket struts and shocks to replace what must be garbage OEM parts - but nothing seems to be available for it yet.
I've got an '12 F-150 with 7k mi. on it. It developed a squeak/creak noise about 1k. mi. ago. It comes from the r. front suspension area and I noticed it one morning leaving from work. It occurs under suspension loading/unloading and it only happens during cold and dry conditions. It won't make the noise when it's wet or damp outside. I've had it at the local dealer 2 times now and they can't seem to locate it. It sounds like rubber on metal or when the 97 & 98's had the dry tie rod ends or ball joints problem. They are reluctant to throw parts at it to try and eliminate it and I agree with them. What were the findings?

View 7 RepliesI'm getting ready to do some maintenance such as flushing the brake fluid, new air filter, and changing spark plugs. I've noticed lately a noise from what I'm assuming is my front suspension that can be heard when going over small bumps on roads at low speeds. It sound like a squeaky spring, almost like something needs to be oiled. I'm still on stock suspension with close to 80k on the clock, so I was wondering if there is anything in particular I should look for when I'm messing around the wheels bleeding brakes, or if there is a common procedure to lubricate something so the noise stops. I can hear it from inside the cabin so I imagine you can hear it from outside the car.
View 3 RepliesI put lowering springs on a few months ago and a pop/clunk has developed. There is a tiny lip of pavement just past my garage door and it clunks as I back out at an angle over it. Worse case I can check the torque on all of the bolts.
View 2 RepliesI've had the stiff ride issue with my 2005 gx470. Took it to three lexus dealers and finally the vehicle is fixed. Hats off to Lexus of Maplewood, St Paul, MN. Their shop foreman persisted and found after several days troubleshooting; a speed sensor was the culprit. My ride is much smoother over speed bumps without the need to cycle through the height adjustment.
View 14 RepliesI love the car, but had a few small gripes, including ride firmness and road noise. Well, the ride firmness has definitely calmed down a great deal over the first 3500 miles to now I find it has a perfect balance of handling vs. comfort. It's firm, but the bumps are not as jarring as those first 500 miles or so. I'm very happy with it.
The 2nd issue I hd/have, is road noise... or rather... I think... suspension noise. It's a faint droning/humming sound that I think comes mostly from the rear. You can start hearing it at 20-30mph on all but the smoothest of roads. The noise seems to be *in addition* to the very, very minimal tire noise I hear from the very nice stock Michelins. The harsher the road, the louder the noise of course.
My guess (and it's only a guess?) is that the metal bushing ('pillow ball') in the rear along with the other firmer suspension parts are the primary cause of this noise.
So I have tried a couple of things to try and counteract this noise:
1) Put D'amplifier Pro in the trunk - Got down the bare metal and put the stuff all of the place back there... Above the wheel wells also.
This did not stop the noise I hear.
2) I then put some sound deadening foam mats above both rear wheel wells.
This did not work.
The strange thing is that this noise is pretty faint, but unmistakable... however if I move my head forward (say, right in line with the steering wheel) 2 feet.... I barely hear it. But when I move back to the normal driving position, there it is.
I have a 2006 F250 Lariat CC FX4. I bought the truck with 68,000 miles about 3 months ago. This is my first 4WD and I'm wondering if I need shocks.
I know how to check on a car but this suspension is too stiff to push down a corner so how do you test? Or do you just go by the age? At freeway speeds when I hit a bump I get a bit of a shudder that makes me wonder if the axle is hopping.
If I were to replace them are the Rancho shocks OK for a replacement? I will spend very little time off road and mostly use this truck for boat towing and hope to buy a travel trailer down the road.
I've had this 2012 for several months now but have never really romped on the throttle until yesterday's road trip (not a lead foot driver).
I was driving on the highway at about 55 when I needed to pass so I floored the throttle and - the truck bucked like a wild horse and the power dropped to a low acceleration. Once I backed off the throttle to about half-way the engine took off like "normal".
These symptoms were repeatable throughout my entire 500 mile trip. Is this a known issue with the EB?
