(2008 ES 350) I hear this squealing noise under the hood, I had the AC compressor rebuilt because I was told that was the cause, low and behold it's not, I only hear the noise when the car is in gear, but I don't hear it when in park or when I drive, but it's loud in drive and reverse. The water pump has been replaced too. Where is this coming from?

View 4 RepliesI notice when the AC is on, the rpm is around 800 and I can clearly hear the rattle of the compressor. When I switch off the AC, the rpm's drop to 500 and the noise is much reduced. Is this typical for our LS460 models?
View 1 RepliesAll was fine with it until a month or so ago. Now, after the car is first turned on and the AC is turned on, it makes a terrible squealing sound. The moment the AC is turned off it stops. If the AC is left on, it will generally make the noise for a good 20 seconds, stop, and then repeat that a couple more times(and the noise will cease for as long as the car is on).
I popped the hood and took a look (I'm assuming the compressor is on the lower left), and when the AC is off it spins fine. However, when the AC is turned on, the fan starts up, then it visibly stops spinning and really struggles to spin, causing the noise. Do I need a new compressor?
I took it back into the shop and told them about the brakes squealing and rattle. They told me my rotors were glazed so I should replace them. Thought it was fixed, until I got home and still had the squeal and the rattle. I guess they can't seem to duplicate the problem but this is what my brakes sound like when I brake, or go over bump while braking: [URL]......
View 4 RepliesSo over the past view days I have been hearing some sort of light squealing noise coming from my car during my daily commute. At first I though it was wind noise or something stuck in the grill of the bumper. When I looked the car over this morning, I didn't see any plastic or something caught in the grill to be causing the noise. Then I thought maybe its my wheels, brakes, or rotors but found out it wasn't that after hearing the noise stopped at a stop light. I did a few revs and heard slight squeal coming from the engine bay.
So I don't really know what to look for now. The sound is fairly faint, but a high pitch squeal.
Just came from dealer because of a rattling noise coming from the front end. They said it was caliper piston. They also said its common just that some is not as loud others. They are trying to fix it.
View 1 RepliesPurchased my LS 460 last week and noticed when going 55 mph or more there was wind noise coming from both the drivers front window and passenger's front window. Decided to go back to the dealer and was told that is a known problem with the LS 460 (not the 460L because I was told they use a different type of glass which apparently has a better seal). You can't hear it with conversation or radio, but if there isn't anything on, it's there. Kinda like when a window is just barely cracked while driving is the sound you hear. I test drove a different LS 460 while at the dealer and was able to verify it too had the same wind noise. The dealer suggested that if there is enough comments made that Lexus would undoubtedly look into a "campaign" to correct the problem. Went online and checked a few review sites by consumers and noticed others had also commented on this wind noise. If you have the LS 460 (not the 460L) check it out...and if you hear it, consider filing it with Lexus Customer Service at 1-800-255-3987. Overall, a great car...things like this can happen with the first year of a body redesign.

At first I thought maybe the fan but no it's more of an electrical static buzzing.
View 14 RepliesExperienced a noise that is evident when the side window is down which seems to coming from underneath the car. It is difficult to describe but it is a ticking / light metallic sound. Possibly coming from the exhaust system area. It is particularly annoying at a drive through window where the sound reflects off the building.
View 7 RepliesSo I noticed I had some wind noise on the highway coming from my sunroof. It was actual wind coming through the dry rotted seals around the glass. Well I got really lucky and a truck kicked something up on the highway and it went right through the glass. Called the insurance company and since glass is covered free in Ma, they shipped an OEM sunroof to the local shop. Got it put in this morning, and it is all quiet again.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2008 LS460 17,000 miles. I hear what I would describe as a clunking sound and feeling when coming to a complete stop. The noise and feeling is similar to worn suspension bushings. I took the car into my local dealer. After inspection they advised me there is a problem with my car because they heard the noise and feeling like I described. They also stated there is "no fix yet" per a service bulletin for the described problem. They also stated they don't know when a fix will be available.
It appears to be getting worse and my advisor stated he has another customer that's been waiting some time now for a fix. I'd really like to know the service bulletin so I can follow through with the repair by simply asking "Are the parts available for service bulletin 1234 yet? Perhaps others are also struggling with the same symptoms and yet to find a fix.
Sitting in parking lot listening to ipod thru aux port opened door to access door pocket and sound system went nuts. I now have a high pitch noise coming through all speakers on all settings even with audio off.

View 5 RepliesI have a horrendous squealing noise coming from one of my rear wheels. Sounds bad at low speeds, changes frequency to higher pitch when going faster. The sound isn't constant (some times nothing), other times loud as hell. Sometimes gets worse when turning, then nothing when straightened out. When breaking, sometimes the sound gets worse, then goes away. It doesn't sound like a bad wheel bearing (had one go before- more of a growly noise). This sound is too high pitched. Also, checked the brake pads (plenty of life left), and rotors are good too.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2007 Hyundai Accent automatic. For the past few months, every time I start up my car it makes a horrible squealing sound. This sound also occurs when I'm backing out of my parking space and when I do turns. A few times when I'm doing turns the steering seems to lock up a bit and it gets really difficult to steer. I had numerous people check under the hood and they say that the pulley is seizing every time I turn the steering wheel left or right while it's making that squealing noise. I have had all three belts replaced and a new alternator installed last year. The belts have been checked numerous times since they been replaced. The power steering fluid has been a changed as well. Do I need a new steering pump? Or is the problem something else.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2007 ES350. It started making a vibrating noise and sometimes screech coming from the serpentine belt area. It stops when I turn off the A/C and also stops when I accelerate with the A/C on (only does it when idling).
View 3 RepliesAfter replacing my brake pads and shoes I am hearing a squealing noise coming from the area near my brake pedal. This noise sometimes becomes high pitched if I depress the brake too hard. I am also losing a little bit of brake fluid if I depress the pedal hard several times. The brakes themselves function fine and have no problem stopping. When I bled the brakes today some of the fluid was black. I figured it might be air in the system but after bleeding them it is still happening. I also replaced the bleeder screws.
1997 Pontiac Sunfire 2.4L uses DOT 3 brake fluid.
So I just got a bunch of work done on my car: the timing belt, spark plugs, serpentine belt and water pump were just replaced. I had the oil changed, the fluids changed, new front tires, and an alignment all about a month ago, but now every time i turn my car on there is a squealing noise coming from my engine (i assume a belt). Then when i get to higher speeds the entire car shakes, but more so on the drivers side. I have also noticed my brakes just starting to squeal as well, but the shaking was occurring before that. What it might be?

My dad bought this car some time ago and it didn't have those parts (AC belt pulley, belt and High line cap, that sky-blue thing) but we didn't care, looks like the previous owner didn't use the AC system that much. Well, I had some time to put things to work, so I put the AC belt pulley, bought the belt (4PK810), found the cap and guess what, the AC works just fine!
But... there's this noise coming from the compressor ONLY when the AC is off. When I turn the AC on, that "thing" on the compressor starts to rotate and the noise disappears, and it comes back when it stops.
The compressor's clutch is at fault here? I've read a bit about it and maybe is that thing.
Or maybe the compressor just needs some maintenance after not being used for so long... What do you think?
The compressor is a HCC HS-15, like THIS ONE. The model is different, mine being CD1AA-03 and that one AKTCC-04.
I hear a bit of a squeaking noise. Very minimal. Coming from back when I'm on rough roads. Is that normal. Sounds like it might be from coilover or somewhere in the back.
