This is an annoying thing. for example when i just have to step out for 3 seconds and grab my mail I don't want to shut off the entire car and restart it.
1) Is there a way to leave the ignition running and get out of the vehicle and lock it?
2) I heard we can go to the dealer to enable the remote start feature, is this true? or would we need to do a 3rd party addon?

1) How do I set the doors to automatically lock when I leave the vehicle?
2) Also, at night when I open the driver's door, the panel on the door is NOT illuminated making it difficult to unlock the door for passengers. This is a true safety issue. How can this be fixed and NO I do not want the door unlock operation buy handle touch or remote to unlock all doors.
The website [URL] ..... is valuable BUT the separate PDF manual sections is poor since it is difficult to jump around within the whole document. Each section of the document reference pages outside the current section. There is no easy way to know what section that page is in.
I just purchased a 2007 LS and at night when I have headlights on Auto, when I leave the car and lock it, the headlights do not go off. If I do not lock it, the headlights go off ok. What could cause this? Is there some kind of setting for this?
View 12 RepliesI've been having lots of electrically problems with my 2007 Camry SE v6 for the last 3 years. First, the car drains quickly if i leave the key in the ignition while the car is off. Secondly, I have gone through 3 batteries over the past 3 years. Previously, what use to happen is that my cars warning lights would start to come on such as the brakes ABS and battery lights, the head lights would be dim. Then just not start (just fast clicks when ign is turned). I would jump it and it wiukd run for a few more days and die again.
So I'd replace the battery and thing would be fine with the car for a year. Then it would start again, and i'd replace the battery and it would be good for another year. I use to buy costco batteries. This time I tried Bosch. After 4 months with the Bosch, the same thing is happening. My battery light came on, then my abs light. And now my lights are dimming. Earlier, it was just the battery light but everything, including the lights were ok. Im sure I'm sure I'm going to need to jump it next time I start the car. I took it to Toyota last time, and it cost be an arm and a leg to diagnose. They said its just a bad battery.
I just completed the spark plug change on my wife's '07 RX350. As the numerous threads on this topic point out, this is one serious undertaking. I'm not claiming to be a mechanic but have done my share of DIY's including changing the usual oil/filter, brake discs/pads, serpentine belt, rear hatch switch and now the spark plugs on my wife's car and the same or similar on all of my other cars. This has got to be the single most difficult project that I've tackled recently. I did fail to do the front Mac struts but this was because I didn't appear to have the right spring compressor. Go figure.
Anyhow, I found that I needed to remove the front windshield cowl to get access to that infamous third stay bolt.
To my question ... I managed to break off the tabs that lock the connector to the ignition coil on about three spark plugs. I'm concerned about these eventually vibrating off. Should I be concerned about this? Do I need to now go in and change these? Or, tie-wrap then in place?
Is there a way to step out and lock the doors with the engine still running?

I have read that it can drain or possibly damage the battery from sitting to long, so just how long is o.k.? It seems like a pain to have to find someone to start up or drive the car while on vacation.

Mine is currently 30 +/- feet I recently replaced the remote batteries and saw no improvement.
On my Toyota it is 200 +/- feet easily..
I am just trying to determine if a trip to the dealer is needed.
I just had my front brake pads replaced by a local shop. I am now hearing a clunking noise every time I step on the brakes. I got the brake pads from the local Lexus Dealership but had them installed by a local shop. Is it normal to have this clunking for the first couple hundred miles until the brakes "wear" in or do I need to have someone else look at the brakes?

Friend's vehicle. OBD-II codes indicate Intake Valve Timing Control Bank1 and Bank2. Vehicle drives OK most of the time, but then has lapses of lost power where you step on the gas and the vehicle doesn't accelerate accordingly. RPMs rise, but tranny doesn't seem to shift at the right time. Overdrive button OFF doesn't seem to have any affect. Codes have been erased and returned the next day.
Is this Camshaft-related, as in Camshaft Position sensor? I had this issue with my '97 Taurus, but in that case it threw the code explicitly for the CMP sensor.
Just wondering if leaving the key in the ignition in the lock position causes the car to draw power from the battery.

I had it all set up from the dealer and since then they had to disconnect the battery for something and now I don't have that feature. It was setup where I can walk up to the car and unlock it by the remote or door handle and it would put the memory position to that remote?
View 4 RepliesSo a few months ago I started hearing some clunking under the vehicle so I got under there and sure enough the control arm bushings were shot. Took it in to Lexus for service and had them look while at it to confirm that is indeed the issue. After replacing all 8 of the front end control arms and 2 of the ball joints the clunking is still there. Seems to only do it while turning. Regardless whether giving it gas or braking.
What it might be? Its fairly loud and definitely coming from the front suspension (I can feel it through the steering). The control arms are brand new. The ball joints are brand new. Just checked the tie rods and they're are in good shape. What else should I check for?
I have an 07 350 without the navi system. Is it possible to add the sensors that detect how close you are getting to a car in front (or behind) you?

However, i feel a vibration inside the vehicle while the car is idling (even when it is fully warmed up) and i was wondering if this is normal on these models? I have owned a is250, and ls460 and I didn't really notice anything like it. It almost feels like my ex's toyota camry when idling (not as loud of course). Is there a recall that fixes it? or is this normal with FWD vehicles?

As I already have the Mark Levinson system in the car, if I were to change the head unit, would the Mark Levinson system be ruined or unusable, or would the new head unit integrate into the system. View 14 RepliesI have a 2007 RX 350 2WD. Recently, the check engine light is on, as well we two other lights are on as well: VSC, TRAC OFF.
I went to Lexus and was told that the error code is P0356. I was told that the ignition coil F is problematic and need replaced. I was quoted 1 and 1/2 hours two 2 hours work and need $412 for the repair. Well, I went to auto zone and was told that No 2, 4, 6 ignition coils were on outside so that it would only take about 5 minutes to replace the problematic one with a new one.
I did the replacement indeed by myself after buying a new ignition coil. Initially it was fine and the light went off after a little while. However, after about 10 days, those three lights went back again. I check the ignition coil, it seems fine and I was told that it is very unlikely for a new ignition coil to go bad this quickly.
I was told that I may need to check my spark plug as well. BTW, when I start the car, the car is a little bit shaky.
Having issues with door lock actuators going out? I wanted to make sure that the motors (Mabuchi) are still the same for the ES?
