I own a stock GS300 2007 RWD doing about 80K miles here in Thailand. I am facing one critical issue with my ride. While driving normally if I hit the brake hard the car seems to loose power then there is a hard knock from the rear which knocks the car forward. I think it is caused from the downshift of the gear, but I am not quite sure. It happens often in the same kind of situation.
View 5 RepliesI have a problem with the rear right door on my 2006 GS300. It wont unlock no matter what I do. When I try with the key it just makes a funny whirring sound, and the inside lock switch does nothing at all. I need to take a look at the door but obviously I cannot get it open to do so.

View 4 RepliesI have had my struts replaced at local gas station. Unfortunately, there is now an occasional hard steel on steel knock in the front. Very weird indeed.
Is there something they may have missed when they installed them?
I got a new clutch & shift cables & fluid professionally done one year ago. I have only put 5k miles on it since. In the last two months the... gate/slot for 1st & 2nd have been getting worse n worse. All gears show sporadic rough shifting (read rough as a clunk or one tooth grind), but 1st/2nd are consistently rough & the gate seems to be getting narrower...
Environmental & operating temp, do not noticeably affect these symptoms.
I recently went on a long drive in the country where I got to drive really hard redlining the engine for a good 30 mins or more on a steep winding road ... Great fun but after pulling over for a driver swap and leaving the motor running the engine sounded really noisy and rattly with what sounded to me like tappet noise ... I drove for a further 30 mins at normal speed and the started the next morning when it sounded normal... Why the noise?
View 14 RepliesAt 120K mi, had ALL the service work done. Changing the trans fluid as well as the 4WD differential was due. A noise in the rear diff began. So the mech said a Honda bulletin stated that this happens sometimes when changing the fluid. Ok. Changed it again. ANYWAY, the noise is still slightly there when going from a stopped position .... steering wheel all the way to one side or the other ... and giving the gas. IS THE REAR DIFF BEING DAMAGED?
View 2 RepliesMy Jetta wagon with 131K on it has a ping when I accelerate hard. I know it's not bad gas, but probably a carbon buildup. I've done a few seafoams that had some effect, but not much. I'm gonna do the water spray/steam next. Which components are prone to carbon buildup in these gassers that would cause ping?
View 4 Replies2004 Passat 1.8t 4motion ... I am getting random misfire at idle like one hard knock then every thing is ok. I also have no MIL light or retrievable codes. I checked for vacuum leaks don't see any. Change out some old vacuum check valves. Replaced oil breather hose had crack. I Changed timing sensor, timing belt and fuel filter fuel pump died changed out. The old fuel filter had something rattling around in it is that normal? Also when I get gas no matter where, 91 octane only the car idle stumbles about 5 minutes after fill up then smooths out after a mile or so. EVAP purge valve clicks some times? Haven't check EVAP canister for saturation. Fuel regulator? I haven't checked fuel pressure. Car was not starting after sitting for week end hard start took 3 to 4 tries then starts up ok for some reason that is not happening now?

View 9 RepliesIn the last two days I've noticed that my steering wheel would suddenly have intermittent episodes of being hard to turn for a second or so. It has gotten progressively worse over the last 24 hours or so where when trying to make a right turn the steering wheel feels noticeably "heavy" during the turn. And in some cases after I make a turn onto a side street I let go of the steering wheel for it to straighten itself out so I can continue straight down the street I just turned on but the steering wheel doesn't straighten itself out quickly enough like it used to and I have to physically turn it back myself otherwise I'd start making a u-turn motion and careen into a parked car. Weird.
I can only conclude that there's something wrong with my power steering rack.
FYI, I have a 2009 460 SWB AWD with about 78k miles on it.
I have a 2007 LS460L. Bought it new and have loved it dearly for 6 years now. It now has 70k miles and is under an extended warranty purchased at 50k miles. As a first year model it has had a ton of TSBs done on it.
The problem i have had as long as i can remember is a lag or stutter during medium to hard acceleration. It feels a little like the old turbo lag or like a very mild stutter. It has had the transmission adjusted, had the service manager driver it for a week to try and capture on computer etc. But nothing has fixed it. At times it feels like if you watch the tachometer during these moments you can actually see a bounce (I may be imagining).
I have almost given up and just lived with it. We have tried tranny, type of oil, software tweaks etc.
I have a 2010 Lexus Es350, and I am having this issue:
When accelerating hard, the car will aggressively drift to the right. During normal driving it is otherwise fine.
When braking from 60-70mph, I will also get a significant vibration in the steering wheel.
What can be the issue here? I've read possible brake rotor, tire out of balance, alignment?
Are these 2 issues connected?
I have purchased LS 460, 2010 with 21000 miles on it. Dealer said he put new Kumho tires on it. But the power steering feels hard, and is not even as soft as my Honda Pilot 2009. I have made an appointment with Lexus dealership for this concern ( I had the vehicle checked by Lexus store before purchasing.) I have read good reviews about Michelin tires, am wondering perhaps I need better quality tires. Do not know what the dealer is going to recommend.
View 3 RepliesI've got a 97 truck, broke the crank, swapped in a motor from an 07. Heads down is 07, intake up is 97. had heads planed and a valve job with new seals done. Left it alone from the rings down. Got it in this weekend, running today. Ran it in the driveway with no load for about 30 minutes, top end was noisy for about 5 minutes till the top end got good and oily (I'm assuming). Purred like a kitten, sounded real smooth. Took it for a drive around the block, heard the clatter in the video below. It's almost always there when driving. Brought it back, turned it off to check oil, it was a quart low. Added oil, startup was VERY labored with a real hard knock in the bottom end. Ran like poo till I gave it some throttle for a couple seconds, then it cleaned up and idled well. Let it run for a couple minutes, turned off and let it sit for a couple minutes then started back up, same thing. Very labored with hard knocking.

The doors (especially the rear doors) require quite a solid push to close them, or they just come to within an inch or so of closing and don't close all the way.
Want to know if this is a problem with the production of my car in particular, or if the model is just like this.
So I recently purchased a 2007 LS460 with 115k on it. I've noticed that about a month ago the car started driving pretty weird. The transmission would shift hard and jerky almost through the first 3 gears, like driving a manual.
Also, when I tried to floor the car from maybe 40-50mph, the rpm would shoot up only 500 then downshift and accelerate causing a violent jerk. It feels like if I was driving at 50mph on 8th gear, when I floored it the car would feel like it downshifted to 7th gear for merely less than a second and downshifted again to 4th gear causing the car to jerk hard.
This is the car's history:
- Reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery (no luck)
- Auto transmission software has been updated at the dealer
- Valve springs recall has been completed
- Head covers has been changed
- Engine module has been reprogrammed by the dealer at 70k miles
- Trans fluid has been changed at 70k miles according to lexus.com service record
So at this point I really don't know what could cause this problem anymore, maybe it could be the transmission fluid?
I have a 2006 LEXUS GS300 AWD. I loved how it looked stock but I wanted more. I replaced the stock shocks with Brian Crowler coilovers and got some 20" Niche Verona staggered wheels. I dropped it about 2 inches. The problem is that when I take off I have a vibration that comes from the car up until i reach about 20 miles per hour. However, when I put on the stock wheels there is no vibration. I got it put on the rack and all the arms are fine. I even checked the tires and the rims for any problems and they are fine.
View 2 RepliesI bought in my 2006 GS300 to Lexus dealer 2 weeks ago for the engine misfire issue and were told to call corporate 'cuz it's over the 9 yr period for 1 month. Called and told me to bring it back for inspection on the issue. Dealer performed the test and found the misfire, but got a call from dealer that they won't cover it because I missed it by 1 month. I had explained to the rep that we moved around quite a bit and found out about this not too long ago.

View 7 RepliesAs of recent my Drivers Door seems like dead weight and is very hard to close compared to my other doors. No accidents or hitting anything. I checked the hinges and they are fine and the door is lined up perfect. Door is not rubbing anything either when its closing. All seems to be normal from inspecting. All the other doors are just fine. If I push the door with light force it comes back toward me.
