I have a 2004 GX470 that has been the best car. However a new sound has been heard coming from the interior behind the dash. Click Click Click and is constant even when a/c is off and radio is off. Only happens when car is running.
View 6 RepliesMy left blinker on my GX stopped working about 2 months ago. I had the tires and brakes done yesterday at Firestone. I asked them to replace the bulb for me as the blinker did not work and makes the "fast click" sound when activating it.
I was told that it is not the bulb and Firestone can't do anything about this. They believe something is loose or maybe an electrical problem?
When I put my fob in and waiting for ICE to kick in, I here this weird sound under dash. I think it's pretty innocent, it sounds like a weak car horn that is not getting any juice. It's intermittent and it seems right in front of me under dash, or firewall.
The car starts fine and runs fine. It happens usually after car has set for maybe 3 days.
So I have some road resurfacing happening near my home which I've been driving through recently. One thing that I've begun hearing is a rattle that sounds like it's coming from the center speaker area on my dash. I have the ML system so not sure if the standard audio package has this speaker. I'm not 100% that it coming from the speaker but it's somewhere towards the center of my dash.

I'm also having battery drain issues also an had alternator an battery tested, ok. Is this click from relay draining battery and what relay could it be? I switched them an had same click .
View 3 RepliesHeard this really soft click-then-whistle coming from the dash area, usually shortly after starting the car? I hear it pretty regularly, it doesn't sound *bad* or *wrong*, it is just a really curious sound. Very mechanical in nature, sounds like a small hydraulic or air supply line, almost like a little relief valve. There's no whoosh of air, just kind of a really faint whistle, but very mechanized.

View 1 RepliesI've been having a problem with some of the interior lights staying on and killing my battery each night. The lights that stay on are the climate control lights, gear shift light, and the lights on the door for the windows and locks. Every time i have to crank up i have to get it jumped off. If i pull the fuse out for the tail lights i no longer have the problem. I was wondering does it have something to do with the lighting control module or maybe the headlight switch.
I also have been having a problem with the a/c making this tapping sound behind the dash. Even with the a/c off you hear this constant sound as long as the car is on. I have no clue what is going on...
About a month ago I was using my driver side seat heater when I noticed it wasn't warm anymore. I looked over and found the indicator light for the heater was off. Here is what happens:
When I push the buttons, I can hear a relay click under the dash, the indicator lights come on quickly, but then they go right back off. It does not matter if I choose upper or lower heaters, and it acts the same for both driver & passenger seats.
I connected up a Snap-On computer to it yesterday. We went under the driver door module and it shows the heated seats, but no error codes were present. It displayed the heated seat as inactive. When the button is pushed, it would show active for a split second, then go right back to inactive.
My mechanic friend thinks that it may be a shorted heater module. He isn't 100% sure on if that is the correct diagnosis, or where to locate the module. I believe it to be under the driver's seat.
When I'm turning left or right I'm hearing a click-clack from the front, what this may be?

View 5 RepliesI have a 2004 Excursion with the 6.0 diesel 189k kilometers. Had an egregious delete done about 3 weeks ago. A couple of nights ago the temperature was about 10 degrees f and Whalen I started her it sounded like electrical arcing or grinding. She started and off I went. The next morning it was 0 f went to start and made the same noise and then just stopped cranking. Now when I turn to start I get nothing except the relay click under dash. I tried jumping the solenoid and got nothing. Someone told me that my ground connection might be off the starter. Problem is I can't seem to get at the starter.
View 3 RepliesMy friend (yes, really, a friend, not me) parked her 2004 Dodge Caravan in the driveway the evening before. The next morning it would not start. No crank, no grind, no click, and no dash lights, nada, nothing. She took it to the shop she's taken the car to for years for repair and maintenance. She trusts them. They've replaced the battery and run a full diagnostic on it, but are unable to solve the problem. The shop is telling them her it could run into the thousands just to figure out the problem. What could they be missing?
View 4 RepliesI have a 07 Ls460. When downshifting from second to first there is a click that is sometimes a clunk. Lexus has replaced the trans with no change. They have cleaned and lubricated rear suspension bolts and replaced the rear shocks and springs and the differential mount. Again, no change.
This started at about 80k and continues at 123k. They have checked motor mounts, transmission mount and repacked the driveshaft spline. When the car is lifted into the air and the weight is off the suspension the noise will go away for a few days.
This noise has also been heard occasionally when rolling off the gas between 20/30 mph and then reapplying throttle. Lexus mechanics and area reps are at a loss to diagnosis. I have driven a 2008 loaner and it had the same noise.
i have a 03 GX with 53000 plus miles on it. four days ago, i turn on the radio and there's no sound coming out of it. i tried also the tape player and the disc and it is the same thing. i can see from the nav screen that the radio is working for i can change the station and same thing with regards to the changer i can change the any of the six cd's on it. yesterday on my way home i turn on the radio and the sound is back. today it is out again.
View 1 RepliesOn the December day my 2013 Prius Five model (hatchback with all the safety add ons, bigger wheels) turned 18 months old, i was on the way to have one of the freebie services. I heard a metallic rattle, seemingly coming from the back of the interior. It continues and I cannot find a source for it. I just read a thread about rattles in the 2011s. Not particularly comforting given what I spent on the car.
Is this something I could have the dealer chase under the warranty? (this is the first new car i ever bought in my 50 years of driving, so my familiarity with new car warranties is a little thin.)
My dealer has been pretty responsive -- swapping out an interior door panel as a freebie when the armrest portion separated from the lower portion and collapsed into the door.
Our 2012 elantra gls with 112k miles on it decided to freak out yesterday.
Car wont turn over at all. there is also a clicking sound coming from the interior fuse block. I popped the hood and smelled sulfur. I put the volt meter to the battery and it shows 12.8 ish. I checked all the fuses and didn't find any blown. I also pulled the starter relay and tested it and it checked out.
Trying to turn the car over some times the dash light will flicker and the wipers will turn on by themselves. I also had a clicking sound coming from the fuse block under the hood. Interior lights come on but are dim and the parking light flicker a bit and fade. I downloaded the manual but am not sure what to look for at this point.
I have had my '02 SC since 2007 and frequently when I turn the key to start, I hear an instantaneous "electronic click" sound. I have ignored it and no service person has ever mentioned it, nor have I requested a Lexus diagnosis.
View 2 RepliesI woke up to a surprise this morning , the car earlier had this kinda issue where i would press the start button and it would not start and only make "Click" sound .. and after few attempts it would usually start and then this issue went away for few months for unknown reasons
Today it returned back i didn't move the car for 2 days over the weekend down here. I tried to start the car all it would do is Click sound but this time a very faint sound not like earlier where it was much louder .
I am assuming its the starter ? Where is it located ? What i read online and see could be just a bad starter selonoid .
On the drive home today I noticed a new sound on my 14 300h. On quiet subdivision streets, every time I press the brakes I hear a 'click', almost like a relay engaging, before the brakes start slowing down the car. I think it may be a relay but I never noticed this before. The sound is definitely from inside the engine compartment. Noticed this sound on 300h? It is very faint but repeatable with the brakes. I only hear it with the radio off.
View 14 RepliesExperiencing rattling sounds in the interior of any kind? I have for instance, the front passenger seatbelt holder rattles whenever going on bumps or just a rough road. I did play with it to see what was wrong or anything loose, no luck.
Another rattling sound I've been hearing was from the sub in the back. Behind the backseat headrest, keeps rattling whenever a rap song or any genre of music with nice bass kicks in. I have no ML package. Mind you, I have my tremble to max, mid at 2 bars under max, bass at 2 bars under max, and the rattling starts around volume 30. I feel as if something is loose under there. About to download a bass test onto my phone to play through bluetooth, but don't want to blow out my sub at the same time.
