My wife's 2015 IS350 F-Sport (only 6,000 miles on the odometer in the year she has owned it) is showing evidence of chipped paint above the deck lid reflectors. Our dealer and Lexus corporate are not wanting to play ball and fix the problem. We are convinced that it is caused by a vibration from the reflectors when the car is moving and when the deck lid is open and shut.

View 2 RepliesI never seen this before. Today I was driving on the freeway. I then heard a loud "pluck" noise as if a rock hit my car. When I got home, I saw this bulge popping out on my right passenger rear door. It looks like it's swollen.
It doesn't look like a rock hit the car though. Otherwise, it would have been a dent inwards with paint chipped. It's really close to the rear passenger door speaker too. I wonder if something in the speaker popped and made a bulge like that outwards.
I need to remove the bumper to replace the reflectors for some lead breaking lights, so I'll also need to find the rear break lights cables to jump this leds.

I pull the seat bottoms up, and pulled the 12mm bolts to get the seat back off, I couldn't get the belts out, nor the through the deck lid.

Where to find this on the car? Also, where to get touch-up paint? I know I can get it from the dealer, but perhaps it's less expensive elsewhere and/or better quality.
View 1 Replies2007 LS460L; nagging subtle muffled rattle in the rear cabin deck. It turns out that if you remove the passenger side panel in the trunk, whereas you are capable to reach behind the frame and the rear fender panel. There I found a drain hose, neatly wrapped in sound deadening material, but loose enough to rattle around against the outer rear fender panel enough to create that elusive subtle rattling sound.
I simply did a quick fastening job with gorilla "duct" tape, in order to secure the hose to the inner frame of the trunk. This prevents the hose from moving around with "ANY" movement produced by the vehicle over the smallest of bumps to the largest of bumps.
I checked everything from the sunshade, to the speakers, to the subwoofer, to the air ride suspension caps (accessed by removing my electronic reclining rear seats), to securing all hardware in the spare tire compartment, to the middle row seat belt "housing", to the middle row headrest "relaxed position", to the rear center console.
All of this effort only to read another members experience on their 2009 lexus is250 with the "brown/blue box electronic housing" in the trunk behind the panel on the passenger side, where he found his solution by tightening the retaining nuts on the housings bolts that secured it to the inner frame structure.

Having problems with the paint chipping on the rear bumper? Dealer said on the phone paint is only covered if it rusts. Will bring it in tomorrow for them to check, but I'm not getting a good feeling that they will cover it. Car has only 3500 miles on it! Bumper shouldn't be chipping like this.
View 18 RepliesHad clear bra installed on my car. They had to redo the mirrors and the hood pieces because they didnt install the self healing film the first time. After the tech installed the second pieces I noticed an annoying whistling noise from the drivers mirror. I taped it off and even wedged a piece of thin plastic in the gap between the base of the mirror and the car to see if it would stop.
Anyway did a little research and found to my dismay that guys with the 4GS and 3IS are having the same issue when installing paint protection film on the drivers mirrors. As far as they know the remedy is to remove the film. I am assuming it has to do with the positioning or thickness of the film because it did not make any noise with the basic film installed and where it was installed.
I just went down to the garage and peeled it off, took it for a ride, and BOOM .....silence . Crazy that a thin film on the mirror could cause wind noise .
2009 Lariat. Paint peeling off front of dash on airbag cover, vin# says HW for the code what color is that. Can't figure out what HW means, it's either Camel Parchment or Medium Camel Interior don't want to waste money on the wrong vinyl paint.

It's coming off on all 4 wheels and its OEM original paint. I can see other areas where the paint has cracked and starting to lift as well. These Lexus wheel paint really suck... My Volvo alloys are 18 years old and still do not have peeling issues like this!!
