When the car is in a situation where there is a twisting force, such as entering an inclined driveway from an angle, a loud POP is sometimes heard from the rear of the car. The intensity of the POP varies dependent on speed and angle of incline, higher speed/greater incline/decline produce a louder POP.

at an angle causes a loud popping noise from my roof. I checked the headliner to see if anything was loose but came up with nothing. This occasionally happens on sharp turns on uneven ground.
I recently lowered my car so now this is happening way too often.
My wife has a 2013 GS350.....when she backs out of the driveway, turning at a slight angle...there is a loud pop that sounds like it is coming from the rear. The noise does not repeat during normal driving or going over bumps...just when backing out at an angle to the left. Dealer could not repeat the noise. Almost sounds like the strut brace/bar is loose or something along those lines.

About a week ago I started getting a popping noise in the left rear suspension when going over speed bumps or up my driveway from the street at certain angles. I could not find any evidence of the springs binding, but did notice that there was some separation of rubber around the plastic center of the rubber mount beneath the spring. This likely the problem or loose sub frame bolts?

Every time I go up a slanted driveway (driving into a driveway at an angle, not head on), there is a clunking noise coming from the right rear of the car. The sounds it makes is almost as if I the spare tire is lose hitting on the right side of the car. This only happens if I am driving into a driveway coming from the right side, the sounds does not happen if I am entering my driveway from the left side.

View 14 RepliesMore times than not now, when making a sharp left turn and sometimes a left turn in general, a loud popping/clanking/knocking noise comes from the rear of my truck. I can feel it in the steering when it's about to do it. The steering wheel will become stiff when turning left and when I straighten up it will pull to the right (just got the truck aligned so I don't think that's a problem). Rear left tire will spin like its struggling to spin. After all that I can make a hard turn right and "pop" everything will seem to go back to normal. 1999 Silverado Z71 5.3l ....
View 5 RepliesWhen I reverse out of my driveway, my car makes a noise. It only happens when it is in reverse and sounds like something may be rubbing against each other. It's not a high pitched squeaking noise but more so just vibrations and a light rubbing noise.

View 8 RepliesNow that the cold weather is here, I am finding more and more issues. Besides a clunk in the rear that I have to have looked at, I have the dreaded dash popping. I have read to use felt and jam it between the window.
Also it seems like the headliner is popping too? Haven't heard of that. I plan on bringing it to the dealer after the holidays for the rear clunk, but will they fix any of this under platinum warranty?
I recently (3/3/14) purchased a 2011 Sonata Limited 2.0 with only 6750 miles. I've owned it for 3 weeks and put 2000 miles on it. So far, lots to say good about it but one very disturbing quirk- on occasion, when accelerating from a stop in traffic or when entering moving traffic from a side street or driveway, there is a sudden loss of power. This power loss lasts from about one second to as long as 3-4 seconds before the engine recovers and the car resumes normal acceleration. I've taken it to my local Hyundai dealership twice with this complaint, but the defect is intermittent (technician was unable to duplicate it at the time) and there is no defect code to be found.
View 3 RepliesI bought a 2015 ES350 in August and have a couple of weird noises.
First is what sounds like either door rubber seal on body rubber seal or window on rubber seal noise over certain types of bumps. Is this common? I can live with this until I bring it in for its first service, but it might be a simple fix I can do.
The second is more of a concern. When I'm moving slowly over an angled surface like a driveway that might cause some "twist" of the car, there can be a loud pop sound. Since it does not happen very often, it is very difficult to locate, and I'm sure its one of those things the dealer service department will never hear. When it happened over the weekend, it almost sounded like it was coming from the roof. This morning, it sounded like it might have come from the rear driver side door, but it is hard to tell.
I think I heard this noise before but I didn't pay much attention until a few days ago. I thought the garage door makes that noise when I close the door.
When the engine is off, whenever the last door is closed, the popping noise occurs. The noise gets louder if I close the door harder.
When the engine is on, it's the opposite. The first door opened causes the popping noise.
It's a 07GS350AWD.
I got a morning or first drive of day noise that is loud enough to startle my wife. Sounds like a rock flying up into the wheel well. It happens when reversing down a drive way and I hit the dip or end of drive way. It has also happens when leaving work after 8 hours and I make 90 degree turn or more. When it happens on a turn it only pops on one side.
It can pop on either side or both at same time depending on a bump or turn. I also don't use a parking brake.

Just purchased a 2010 ls with 20,000 miles on it. Brakes make a popping noise when coming to a stop. Not all the time, seem to get worse as brakes get hot. Have had to dealer twice they have resurfaced rotor, bled system put new pads. Still have noise my service manager opened a trouble in the lexus system and called Atlanta. They said this is characteristic of this car. I drove a couple of other ls cars and did not hear the noise. Not sure where this is going to end up. I saw where the brake actuators where changed on the 07,08 and 09.
View 14 RepliesI bought a 2004 R32 in July. On mornings after it rains overnight or has been particularly humid I get a horrible popping sound when I drive forward or backwards. It is a reasonably slow sound only loosely tied to vehicle speed in a straight line. When turning it is very rapid which made me originally suspect the differential. Removing the Haldex fuse, turning off traction control, and dragging the brake pedal have no effect. Dragging the e-brake seems to stop it until I release it.
The only thing that fixes it is leaving the car running for a little bit. Sometimes it is 2 minutes, other times it might be 5 minutes. Monday when it did it I pulled over a little way from my house and waited. I heard the pop with the car out of gear and parked on level ground not moving. I started driving immediately and there were no more problems. This is the only time I heard something when it "fixed" itself. The popping sound is somewhat like a bad CV joint when you turn the wheel tightly.
The car will go a couple weeks without this happening if it is dry out. I have had a bunch of quattros, but this is my first Haldex which is why I suspect it. I have pulled codes and get nothing for the Haldex. When it is working it behaves perfectly. What to try? Alsobhow water got in my Haldex in the first place to make the milkshake? I am concerned it will happen again. The previous owner had it changed at the dealer in 2013.
I just picked up a used 2009 LS 460 AWD last week with 45K miles. I have put about 1000 miles on it so far myself.
When I hit any small depression in the road at 10-45 mph I hear a thump in the rear. The bigger the depression and the more weight in the backseat, the louder the thump noise and even an occasional bottoming out feeling occurs. It hasn't happened at highway speeds so far.
The bottoming out feel occurs only with a medium to large depression. I am not talking about a pot hole, just pavement depressions where two sections are not of equal height or you are transitioning from a primary road to a side street and the is a depression to allow for water run off, etc.
If I have someone sitting in the passenger seat and the backseat and accelerate quickly from a dead stop, I get a similar rear thump and even a bottoming out feel. This occasionally occurs even without a without a depression in the road. With no one in the back seat it does not do it unless there is a big depression in the road.
Finally, when cornering on a 270 degree off ramp at 40 to 50 MPH the rear end will start to hop and bounce. If I slow down to 15-20 mph it goes away. Still, it is irritating and embarrassing. I have tried all comfort settings and get the same results.
A loud throbbing noise suddenly started last night in the rear speaker of my 2010 Santa Fe. I think the speaker is blown. Can I pull the fuse until I can get this to the dealer? Which fuse? I can not locate a fuse map. I tried #13 and #31 based on an old fuse map online but the noise continued.
The noise is loud and I can't drive with my toddler in the car.
