When I reverse out of my driveway, my car makes a noise. It only happens when it is in reverse and sounds like something may be rubbing against each other. It's not a high pitched squeaking noise but more so just vibrations and a light rubbing noise.
View 8 RepliesI recently hit 180,000 km on my mileage and all of the sudden theres increased ticking engine noise and vibration. Sounds like a diesel engine. No check engine lights, gas mileage is the same, acceleration is the same and as far as I can tell after checking oil its within normal range for now.
I'm worried its either the VVTi Rubber hose exploded or its the VVTI Camshaft / piston slap issue. My dilemna is I'm 3 hours drive away from a Lexus dealer but there is a Toyota Dealer 10 min away. Should I bring it in to verify theres no oil leak at Toyota and then take it back to a Lexus mechanic to see if it is Camshaft gear ?
2007 Lexus ES350 has screeching/squeaking brakes when the car is in reverse. Is this a simple fix or a costly brake repair job?
View 5 RepliesI finally traded in my car and picked up a black 2010 ES 350, CPO, with 33k miles. However, i feel a vibration inside the vehicle while the car is idling (even when it is fully warmed up) and i was wondering if this is normal on these models? I have owned a is250, and ls460 and I didn't really notice anything like it. It almost feels like my ex's toyota camry when idling (not as loud of course). Is there a recall that fixes it? or is this normal with FWD vehicles?

View 8 RepliesIn the 2008 ES350 owner manual, there is a picture of an AFS OFF switch (to turn off the Adaptive Front Lighting system) which is located at the knee dash area above your right knee (on the right side of the steering column). However, the switch is not there when I look for it in my car which has the AFS w/ HID lamp option.
View 14 RepliesMy friend has 2008 ES350. His car has problem in Air Conditioning System. Only sometimes not always it pushes normal air, not cooled enough as it should be. He took it to an AC service shop they checked the AC gas it is normal no leaking. They told him there is a faulty sensor connected to the compressor.
View 8 RepliesI have an unusual issue with the drivers side headlight. I recently got a used 2008 ES350 and the drivers side headlight aims high and dazzles oncoming traffic. I have adjusted the two screw adjusters their full range but cannot get the light to aim horizontally. The lights are HID AFS. The car was in a previous accident and the front drivers side wing was repaired.
I have a feeling the body shop did not do a great job (the paintwork is not great) and the light may not be mounted at the correct angle. The AFS works fine for the LH headlight but I don't see much movement of the RH light? Perhaps they installed a non AFS unit during the repair. How to check the alignment of the headlight assembly and body work, and how to correct the headlight problem if the screw adjusters don't move the beam.
I just bought a 2008 Lexus ES350 with 79,000km. I noticed a lot of white smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe at the start, and even after 25 mins of city driving (although less smoke). Temperature outside was 12-17C. I worry I might have a damaged engine gasket or worse. Took the car to Service at Lexus, and it passed a combustion leak test and a misfire counts test; they recommended 'good highway drive to clear exhaust'.
View 3 RepliesWould be very interested in any fixes known for an annoying, recurring drivers side window/upper door frame rattle in my 2008 ES 350, occurs when going over bumps, uneven roads, or sometimes with just normal driving. Intermittent, but very common. Have had dealer address this and they replaced the "glass run" on that side, but rattle returned within a few days. Will try some silicon spray to dampen it, but seems like there is some flaw when the window is full up to door frame that produces this ticking rattle- can eliminate it by lowering the window an inch so that it does not insert into door frame.
View 7 RepliesWe bought our ES350 used a number of years ago. When we changed the battery, the Nav system no longer worked and a " A program cannot be read. Please consult to a dealer." message appeared. Am I wrong to assume that the loss of power from the battery swap caused the software to dump from the system and there was no disc installed to "reboot" the system? All I need is a disc and the system will restore? If so will an "update" disc work or do I need an original "program" disc?

This always happens when I'm turning in or out of a driveway or over a speed bump. What it could be. Usually at low speeds and usually when I'm turning. It is very annoying!

at an angle causes a loud popping noise from my roof. I checked the headliner to see if anything was loose but came up with nothing. This occasionally happens on sharp turns on uneven ground.
I recently lowered my car so now this is happening way too often.
When the car is in a situation where there is a twisting force, such as entering an inclined driveway from an angle, a loud POP is sometimes heard from the rear of the car. The intensity of the POP varies dependent on speed and angle of incline, higher speed/greater incline/decline produce a louder POP.
View 4 RepliesI recently bought a 2009 es 350, it had 88K km on it (55k miles) and i seem to have a rhythmic road noise. it increases with speed until it becomes constant. So it's obviously the tires (getting old or need balancing) or a bearing..
Being new to these cars I'm not sure and the whole car is very quiet so any noise seems to be more noticeable.
My tires are the OEM energy's...which I've heard aren't too great. They have decent thread tho, however one sidewall looks as if it's wearing away. Could it be the tires? When do the bearings wear out on these cars - I seem to think that 90K is a bit too soon for bearings..
I have santafe 3.5 2012 4WD , it's 51K on odometer, the problem when cold startup , Noise and small vibrate form front side , its look like from gears
When put to reverse (R) sound is louder and strong vibration from front side, all this problem gone when drive about 15 minutes.
I have visit 3 local shop they check the engine, gear box, everything normal, no check indicator appears.
We bought our beautiful ES350 back in May and we love most everything about the car. However I have noticed a fairly pronounced vibration at idle while in gear. I thought it may get better with mileage, but it has not. We are at 2500 miles now. I have seen posts with the previous gen ES about this, but not for the 2013. Just noticed a vibration especially from the steering wheel at idle in drive. I plan on mentioning it on our first service visit which is coming up in another 2500 miles.
View 14 RepliesMy daughter's 02 Honda Accord is making a sound like a phone on vibrate every few minutes as it sits parked in our driveway. Not sure if this is pertinent but the driveway is sloped so the rear is higher than the front. I've search everywhere to try to locate the sound (thinking it was a cell phone left in the car) but it seems to be coming from under the middle to rear of the car. Could it be the gas tank pump going spastic?
View 1 RepliesI have tested 07 UL package a while ago, really liked the car, how it drives, really quiet, very smooth, good acceleration, very comfy etc. the only concern for me is it spacious enough ? I'm driving around 90% in town, how is it on a long trips with 2 - 4 people.... ?
Immediately after I parked ES 350, I have tried LS460 07 AWD, somehow it felt under power for me, maybe cuz it's a awd.. ES was faster in my opinion. It had it 100k miles on it, the car felt really solid like a rock, safer, but slower. Maybe a RWD would feel differently.
My plan is keep the car for 5 years or so, I'm also concern about maintenance costs too. As today I'm pretty much can get a LS 460 07 or ES 350 UL 10-12' for the same price.
In the process of purchasing 2008 600hl. Wondering if any of the 600 owners can tell me if you experience a light vibration in U-turns, mainly coming from the back? I just called the servicing dealer and the SA told me that he felt the same thing when he moved a 600 for a customer making sharp turns, explaining that this is normal from the electric motors. Is this true???

For the past couple of months since having my air filter changed at Jiffy Lube the air conditioner won't come on and there's a message on the screen that says to check the air conditioner connection. I took it to Lexus to check and they only gave me an estimate of charges for $384, but no explanation of the problem. What might be wrong and the cost to repair?
