I just purchased my first Lexus (very exciting!) But one puzzling issue I've noticed and not sure what the problem is, if it's me or my vehicle. The back cargo cover wont' stay closed. It keeps popping out/up and opening. Quite annoying already and I only had it a few days. Subsequently, it's not hiding a thing in the back.
View 4 RepliesHaving problems with my rear power liftgate on my 2011 LX570.. When it is open if I press the close button on the rear door it closes then beeps twice and opens up again. Every thing is clear by the door jam and all of the pieces look fine (nothing bent). When I close the door manually I can hear the lock cycle so that is engaging.
This feels like an electronic problem. The button on the dash and on the key fob only work intermittently to open the door and neither will close it. Yes the rear door off button is not engaged either.
2004 Crewcab Lariat longbed 4wd. My interior and cargo lights stay on. I got in the other day and opened the truck to start it and when I closed the door the lights stayed on. I did a search and tried the following:
Lubed all the doors
Pulled door switches apart to verify operation
Disconnected the remote keyless entry module
Disconnected the instrument panel
Disconnected light switch
I found the following:
When I alarm the factory alarm with remote the alarm chirps once with doors closed, twice with them open. Looks like door switches are working.
Disconnected light switch. Lights stayed on
Disconnected Keyless entry module, lights stayed on
If I disconnect the instrument panel I can hear a relay switch. That tells me the relay isn't stuck. The lights do turn off at this point and will go off when I pull the fuse for the instrument panel.
Door switches all seem to work fine as eveidenced by factory alarm operation and the door opening indicator turns off.
Not sure where else to look and my Google Fu is not very strong today as I could not find anything like this issue.Is there another module that could be bad?
The cup holder lid won't stay closed on my wife's 2009 es350. The lid moves fine, but won't click to stay closed. Can I repair this myself.
View 5 RepliesAll of a sudden the rear right passenger window doesn't stay closed, it goes all the way up and then it goes down half way. It doesn't matter which switch I use, the driver's side or the passenger side. All the other windows go up as soon as you toggle the switch automatically up and stay up.
View 4 RepliesI have a 13 RX350 with 10,000 miles with a side engine oil leak. I looked underneath and I think it's the timing chain cover seal. Took it to the dealer and they put dye in my oil to figure out where the leak is coming from. They suspect it to the timing chain cover as well. I am aware that 07 ES350s had a know oil leak coming from the timing chain cover but haven't heard anything about the RX having this issue. My service rep said they would have to remove the engine to fix the leak.
View 11 RepliesI can't get an accurate reading on my dipstick of my '08 RX 350. I just tried after it sat all night and the oil is over the full marks. I just had the oil changed at Lexus and they used my 6 quarts of Mobil 1 and I told them not top it off to 6.5 quarts because I wanted to.
The tech said he did not add more than what I gave him. I just called Lexus and they said, yes it is difficult to get an accurate reading for some reason. He said check when the oil is warm and has sat for 5 minutes. Any others have trouble reading the oil dipstick accurately?

Have a 2008 RX350. It is our first Lexus product. The dashboard has begun to crack. Now has 4 cracks of various sizes. Contacted Lexus they said too bad. This should not happen to a Luxury vehicle. Sure makes the interior look like crap.

View 14 RepliesBought our first Lexus, 2008 Rx350 in March of 2012. Was fed up with our 2010 Ford Escape. Bought the Lexus because of their quality reputation. Shortly after purchase cracks began to appear in the dash. Now have 5 cracks and chunks are beginning to fall off. Contacted Lexus. Even though they know that they have a problem with the dashes they will do nothing.
View 2 Replies"VSC OFF" light came on the other day. I took my RX350 to the dealer. The dealer said Heater Element sensor is bad. They didnot have this part in stock. I googled this part. Nothing comes up under that search. I took it to Autozone and the code came up as Mass Air flow sensor. Are both of these same thing?
View 7 RepliesI have a 2008 RX350 AWD with only 500 miles on it so far and I am starting to get concerned about what seems to be excessive slipping or a delay in response in the trans. Under normal forward driving the trans seems to shift very smooth. The problem occurs under situations where I am coming to a near stop, basically coasting, and then have to accelerate again to continue forward. This could be in a slow moving traffic type situation or when maneuvering through a parking lot. When I try to execute a small increase in speed the engine revs but the trans doesn't respond.
It's as though it's in neutral and unable to decide which gear it should be in. After a 2 to as long as a 5 second delay it finally engages and moves forward. The condition is even worse if I am heading into a slight incline. Once it is engaged everything is fine and the subsequent shifts are very smooth. When starting from a complete stop it works perfectly. I've never had a transmission slip this much in any vehicle. There was one situation where I was almost broadsided because the RX delayed in moving forward.
I realize this is a subjective call but I am trying to determine what level of slipping in the trans is considered normal under the conditions I've described. I have searched and read past threads about issues with the earlier model years but I thought they were resolved by now. I haven't taken the RX in for service yet but I fear I will get the standard - everything is working as designed - answer from my dealership.
I just got my TMPS light on this morning, check pressure all 4 tires are good, 35 PSI each, did not check spare tire, does spare tire had TMPS sensor? what do you think? is one of my sensor is bad?
View 5 Replies2008 RX350 with 52k mile .... It's getting cold even in Atlanta. So I thought the warning light was perfectly normal..
Checked the tire pressure and was around 31psi, so pumped to 35 ish after running 10 min or so thinking it should be good enough. After driving back home, the lights are still on.
I double checked tire pressures and they are between 35 and 35.5 psi still. So I reset the warning light, and it the light won't go away. I think the owner's manual said, if it blinks for one min and stays on, then there's a problem in the sensor.
When I start, it blinks once, then stays on.
If I reset it, it blinks three times and stays on.
What I should do next? I did replace tires about a year ago at the local tire shop, but I don't think it was their fault, as I think the warning light worked fine last winter.
All of a sudden, all 3 of my outlets for charging stopped working...can't charge my cell phone!
View 7 RepliesI have a 2008 RX 350 and I am experiencing issues with turning the key ignition and having the steering wheel locked. It gets locked and after several attempts at jimmying the key it eventually starts. My concern is that if I keep this practice up I will damage my key. I have addressed this issue to the dealership and I was naive and trusted them with fixing the problem with my last maintenance visit. Thinking the the problem was solved I started to experience the same problem again. I was first told that it is possible the my key chains are too heavy which could of caused the problem but I lightened the load and still have this problem. I've read about this problem with other people but there doesn't seem to be a solution.
One thing I have noticed is that I tend to experience this problem during the cold weather. During warmer weathers I don't have issues with the key ignition being locked but now that it's cold I am having the problem again (not sure if this has to do with anything). Do I need to change a part out to fix this? I've also read that there can be dirt in the ignition which needs to be cleaned out. Will this work and if so how do I do clean it?
I've had my 2008 RX350 for 2.5 yrs now and just love it! However, over the last 8 months or so, I've been having a strange annoying problem. And a few times, the car has left me stranded. What happens is I turn the key and my first indicator is that the steering wheel doesn't adjust and I know the car is not going to start. However, the radio may work, dash lights work, steering wheel is not locked. It seems entirely dead as if the battery is dead. The car may start 15 min later or may take 3 hours then decide to start.
A strange thing is, is the windows don't work following these episodes which normally signify a battery failure, however the battery is not very old, otherwise performs perfectly and the dealership tested it and say it's good. Because this is so intermittent, they couldn't re-enact the problem so I'm stuck with being stranded again....usually 6 weeks later. The dealership has no answers. I was lucky last night because the car started after 15 min. 6 weeks ago, I was stranded 50 miles away from home where I had to leave the car overnight after trying for 3 hours to get is started.
The next morning, it promptly started. I am at a total loss and it makes me nervous to drive. My husband who works for a chevy dealer and knowledgeable with cars is stumped. He asks the question, could there be a computer malfunction after so many starts which would answer the 6 wk consistency for which this happens? Should we just replace the battery even though we have no reason to suspect?
I just picked up our first Lexus, an 08 RX 350 with 140 km on it and while we love the car, have run into a problem with the power windows and driver's door controls.
None of the power windows in the car work, either from the driver's door or from any other door.
The central locking on the driver's door does not work, but does work from the passenger's door and from the key.
The Memory Seat controls on the driver's door do not work. The controls on the seat itself work fine.
The side mirror controls work fine.
Yes, the battery did get low just before all this happened but we can't do the window reset procedure because none of the other windows work.
I've tested all fuses and they are all fine.
I am suspecting it's some controller or wiring in the door.
I have a 2008 RX350. When i shut off the engine and pull the key out i hear a constant clicking sound. I dont really know where its coming from but i can kind of pin point it maybe to the windows or door i'm not too sure. I also notice the interior light flickering to the same pattern as the clicking noise.
Second problem - in the middle of the night the alarm goes off! Its the alarm without the horn noise. For some reason i cant switch it off with the fob key. No matter what i do i cant switch it off. So it goes on for about 20 seconds and stops. I just leave the car unlocked after that and it doesnt come back. The alarm noise is coming from the boot....
Third problem Now the navigation screen flickers. Blacks out then the lexus emblem appears then switches back on itself.
I have a 2008 RX350 with 68k on the clock. Received a check engine light for random misfire (P0300) and misfire on Cylinder 4 (P0304), Cylinder ,5 (P0305) ,Cylinder 6 (P0306). Question is what will be causing this to happen. I thought about changing the spark plugs to see if this is possibly the cause. but what else should i be checking?
