I recently discovered that my lower side molding on my front passenger side door was loose while cleaning away some of the salt stains from the winter storm . how to fix it or do I need a replacement.
View 11 RepliesI read through all the discussions on this topic scattered across a number of threads, and finally pulled the trigger. Just wanted to share the simple steps I took and some pictures.
The overriding conclusion is: it is easy; you can do it without drilling holes!
OK, let's start with a few photos of the parts. Note the "infamous" clips and double-sided tapes in the third picture.
Chrome Side Molding coming loose on passenger back door. I tried a clear silicon and clamped for 3 hours. Unclamped and trim is lifting back up ?
Looks like clip behind trim snapped. Any kind of glue or adhesive can be recommend that will work?
While clamping trim to door I put a crimp mark in trim. Somewhere down the road I will replace this crimped trim.
Just got the 2010 and put 100 miles on it and found the front bumper loose on the passenger side. Difficult to see but it looked loose right by the headlight housing, a little pull and it popped up. Looked like the fastener was never there.

Over the weekend I was attempting to detail me car and install my HID Fogs when I noticed that the "Drip Molding" on the right side of my 07' GS350 was peeling. It looks almost like some type of thin cheap painted tape.

When I took it to Lexus of Cherry Hill, they told me that they were "puzzled" and that a service tech that has been there since 1989 has never seen this before. Asked if the car was involved in any accidents......
The car was purchased from a lease. All service records come from Lexus w/ a clean CarFax.
My driver side door molding is missing a clip. This is the bottom half of the mold and one of the clips snapped off. I've checked junk yards and they never have any GX's. Just to elaborate the clip I'm missing is on the exterior side of the door, down by the bottom edge.
View 2 RepliesMy 2008 460 has the damn peeling drip molding on the passenger side. I found a wrecked 07 gs of the same color in a local wrecking yard and I was wondering how hard it is to pull off the drip molding myself. Do I need any special service tools? Don't want to damage my car.

View 1 RepliesI've noticed on both rear doors, the Lower Moulding (black cover at the bottom of the door) #12 in the attached diagram (Light Blue Circle), is very much separated from the body of the car, it's like bended toward the outside, but it seems to be exactly the same on both sides, I am not sure if this is normal or mine has a defect
Both front doors are OK, not 100% perfectly aligned with the body of the car, but MUCH better than the rear doors....
How to get the plastic exterior molding on the base of the doors off. I see 2 screws and thats it. Is there a trick to it? I need to replace the passenger side or epoxy one of the clips back on then remount it.

View 1 RepliesBought a new '14 GX a few weeks ago. I noticed the rear is not level. The RR is 1" lower than the LR. This is true with the vehicle running (air suspension charged) or off. When standing behind the vehicle, it is very noticeable.
View 14 RepliesI looked over at my car and noticed the driver's rear side of the car sits lower than the other. I tried turning the car around to see if it was the driveway. It was not. I parked the car flat and took a tape measure and measured from the ground to the uppermost part of the wheel well and the rear drivers side is 2 foot 2 inches, the rear passenger side is 2 foot 4 inches. So the one side is sitting 2 inches lower than the other. Could it just be sag from the roads/ only having one person in the car, I'm not light either. Have 56k on the car.
View 7 RepliesMy driver side lower beam (projector) will go out after a couple minutes when its turned on. If I flip the switch to off and then on, it turns back on again. Is this a sign of it going out? I am assuming i have the HID version.
View 9 RepliesWhen I was spray painting my bumper lower lip. Wiggled it loose so I could tape better but it came loose. This is what it looks like after gluing back together. The issue is with the little rubber trim not wanting to stick and looking ugly. Had a few ideas.
1. Replace with factory parts and repaint.
2. Wide pin striping along the line,blue or black.
3. Reflective tape square.
4. Euro fog lights
5. Long LED strip,either red or white
6. New blinker/reflector
7. Putty/bondo the bumper to look like one piece then paint.
The driver and passenger hip bolster (side facing the door) had a fold under the leather... When I took it in for warranty they said the heating element in the seats came loose. It's probably from getting in and out of the car, and they replaced the entire element, but the GX only had about 12k miles and is 2 years old.
View 1 RepliesI recently had an accident which was absolutely scary. I was driving on a residential block and my steering became loose and started spinning. It was continuously spinning towards the right and my car scratched up a parked car until I finally was able to press the brakes and put it in park. After keeping it in park the steering wheel kept spinning out of control and didn't stop until the car was powered off.

View 2 RepliesHave had the puppy about a month. Getting about 31+ on the Hwy. Anyhoo for the real story, we got home today and noticed that there was a seal around the the sunroof, well on the driver side that was loose. Sort of a flex/accordion type. The other side didn't have one. Not sure, but it looks like it folds over to the outside under the slide track, but not sure. The other side is gone.
