I would like to replace the transmission fluid in my 2006 SC and do the mod to make shifting firm. I have read a few threads that post pictures of the pressure regulator dial in pre 06 to firm up shifting. One such thread is this. However, I have not come up with any for 06+ transmission.

View 14 RepliesLately, I've been having an issue with my 03 GX. It seems when the engine is cold and I back out of my driveway, when I put the truck into D, I feel the usual bump into drive, then it falls off and then a harder bump before I'm able to roll forward. If I don't pay attention and accelerate at the time the transmission seems to drop out of gear momentarily, the truck slams into gear and feels like I granny dropped it.
The truck is coming up on 120K. I've checked the transmission fluid and it is at the correct level.
I bought a 2010 GLS 4cyl and within the first week started having shifting issues. Initially it was only when it was colder than 30 degrees outside and would only shift harshly between 1st and 2nd. Once I had driven a few miles and warmed the car up, everything was OK. It's still an intermittent issue, but now it will do it when outside morning temps are in the 50's and 60's.
I've read the TSB for 6cyl 09's and saw a post in the Santa Fe forum that sounded identical, so at least I'm not the first to experience this.
I took it back to the dealership knowing it probably would not shift badly when they test drove it because we had run out of cold mornings. I picked the car up after they reset adaptive learning and said there were no updates available for the computer. (And also being told I had bad gas in the car. Another story for another time...)
Until it starts doing it at fairly regular intervals, there isn't any use taking back to the dealership as it's very inconvenient for me to get there.
I checked the link that had TSB's and didn't see anything for the 2010's. Also, is there any place where I could check and see when software updates come out and what issues are addressed?
So I noticed that my transmission shifts (jerks) a little rougher than the 3 previous Lexi's that I had when shifting into drive or reverse when the car isnt fully warmed up. Is that "normal?" Had 2 ESes and 1 RX and while I do feel a slight lurch, the GS is a bit rough. I usually let the RPM drop to 1k before driving off on warm or cold days.
Separate incident: I recall at one point, I was going reverse, stopped, quickly shifted into drive and gave it some pedal (not full throttle) and felt a noticeable "bang" and violent lurch forward. Could that have hurt the transmission? Is the computer smart enough to prevent damage? I'm thinking this might have been the cause of it.
For the first mile or so on cold mornings, by transmission shifts slowly - sort of a second or two delay until the car warms up. Is this normal?
View 3 RepliesI have a 2006 F150 4x4. When the engine an transmission is cold it jerks/ Bogs when it shifts. After it warms up it doesn't jerk to bad sometimes but you can still notice it. Also when it shifts the RPM's drop low causing it to bog and jerk. RPM's will go from 1600 to about 800 when it shifts. It is and auto transmission. Today I wanted to try something so I pressed the button to turn the over drive off. Well it shift real good with the OD Off. Seem like with the OD Off it keeps the RPM's up a little higher so it doesn't bog and jerk. I put an Edge Programmer on it, but that didn't work. Still does the same thing with or without the programmer. I changed all my spark plug and coil packs. Truck goes great until it shifts.
View 1 RepliesWell, After reading about the weird transmission issues these cars have...mine finally started to do it. It will clunk, shake the car when it shifts and downshift for no apparent reason. All of this does NOT happen all the time. The noises that come from my transmission do though.
I can have the car in Drive and have my foot on the brake and I can hear a grinding/low power steering fluid like sound that comes and goes. Its worse when I shift from Park to Reverse though. It sounds like air being released followed by a bunch of faint grinding noises.
I currently have a 2006 F-250 6.0 with 187,XXX.
My problem that i am having is that the transmission recently within a couple weeks started acting weird about the same time 3 of my fuel injectors started failing. When i start up the truck and put it into drive it takes about 3-5 seconds to shift. Once it's in drive it runs pretty well but it will start shifting out of normal when i go to accelerate. Also when i go to slow down sometime the transmission shifts hard to a lower gear. I also have a video of the sound that it had started to make since its hard to describe.
Here are attached videos and photos. I want to hopefully fix the problems myself so i can learn more about my truck. I am going to handle the fuel injectors here soon since 2 are failing and ones about to these have been causing the truck to shudder at around 47-53 mph but after that its fine.
The transmission is stocked and never been altered, i do admit for 3-4 years I have changed the fluids or filters.
The truck is bullet proofed, sct tuner, upgraded turbo from stock, 4" exhaust, head studs and new everything when the engine was rebuilt and bulletproofed.
I plan on going to ford tmw to have them figure out the problem and hopefully its just solenoids so i can fix it myself. I have a link posted also where you can hear the noise it has been making when in R P and when shifting going down the road and it is a automatic.

I have noticed a few drops of red liquid on the driveway lately, presumably transmission fluid leaking. Where the leak typically starts, if there is a "typical" leak. Is it generally an expensive fix?

View 2 RepliesI just changed out my leaking transmission pan this weekend. Drain plug was stripped and leaking.
I put 3.5 quarts in and now I am getting inconsistent oil levels on the dipstick. Last night it was at exactly the correct level. Today it was low.
My dipstick is bent up and goes in hard. Could the dipstick be giving a bad reading? Should I buy a new one?
Btw I check for leaks and the pan and gasket look perfect..
What is the location of the Transmission Cooler Line? Is it by the radiator?
View 12 RepliesLast week when I had my car at Lexus dealership for the air bag recall, they took it upon themselves to do an inspection and came up with a few "recommendations".
The one that intrigues me is "found transmission mount worn/loose" recommend "replace transmission mount".
I will take car to my friendly local repair shop this week (never go to Lexus dealership unless it's free).
I'm no mechanic but I've been around cars for a long time and I've never heard of this before: besides the car only has 50000 miles on it.
Am I possibly being scammed or is this legit?
I have an interesting automatic transmission problem. Hot or cold makes NO difference. When the car is started, put in reverse it will work perfectly 100% of the time. When the car is started, put in Drive the transmission will slip for about 5-10 seconds before working perfectly. When the car is started, if you wait 3-5 minutes, then put it in Drive it will work perfectly.
View 13 RepliesSo My 2002 only has 27k miles so I'm hoping it's nothing out of the ordinary. I understand that the transmission will make some noise in shifting but I'm noticed a pretty solid "clank" when I shift especially from Park to Drive or Park to Reverse. Just wondering if other drivers have a similar experience? I remember my last car had a sort of "ratchet" sound in shifting and I've grown accustomed to this "clank" now, but just wondering of others have the same clank? If not normal, what should I look into? Also before it's recommended, I know it's not the brake caliper clips as the "clank" occurs before actual vehicle movement.
View 5 RepliesI purchased two new exhaust tips for my 2006 sc430 because one of the exhaust tips was slightly bent. I thought by removing the screw near muffler would be all that it took and each one could be pulled off. However after removing the screw from one of them, I could not pull it off.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2006 SC 430 with 20,000 miles on it The (run flat) tires are wearing on the inside and the dealer says that they need replacing The local tire shop agrees, and will sell the tires to me for less, and also throw in an alignment He says that alignment is the reason for the uneven wear But the dealer says that the wheel on my 2006 SC 430 cannot be aligned, and that the new ones will probably wear the same way
View 12 RepliesMy '06 SC has about 72k miles and I've notice of late after starting it, it initially idles at about 1,200 RPM and tends to stay there until after driving and warmed up and then goes down. It used to start up at 1,200 RPM and after a very brief period of time would settle at 1,000 or 800 RPM, I can't recall exactly. My question is, is this normal related to the life of the engine, or do I have a sensor or other type of issue that can be addressed.

I found a used 2006 full odometer that contains all the gauges in a very clean condition?
I have a 2006 sc430 and have been having problems with the drivers memory seat although the passenger one works fine.
I have disconnected my batter for 5 minutes, moved the passenger seat all the way forward, heard the beep. Moved the reclining part all the way forward until I heard the beep, and the memory seat for the passenger works great.

I even replaced my drivers mirror (didn't tilt down due to bad motor), but that didn't work. Of course, I did redo disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it resetting both drivers seat and passenger seat.
