Passat (B5) :: 1999 - Lower Radiator Hose Stays Cool But Top Is Hot

Sep 14, 2005

I picked up a used 99 Passat with 79000 miles. I just changed the oil and found the pan pretty well sludged up - typical from what I read on the forum. I noticed the coolant looked pretty diluted - so I drained and filled with 50/50 mix. After starting I felt for the upper and lower hoses heating up and the lower one never did. I guess I should have tested this out before draining and refilling - also typical. Question is - is this a thermostat issue? My Haynes manual says if the top hose becomes hot the thermostat is operational. Heater has plenty of heat, temp gauge stays pegged at 190 degrees top dead center of the gauge.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2008 F250 - Coolant Leak Above Lower Radiator Hose

I'm trying to troubleshoot a leak on my 08' F250 with a 6.4 powerstroke. It's been dripping coolant when cold pretty aggressively. Once the truck heats up, the coolant leak seems to mostly go away.

Here's a picture of the drip, it's marked by a dart, so you can see the location from the top (second pic). The radiator house connection around the engine seems dry.

Pic from Top ....

What's hidden here that could be causing the leak?

Honda - Cr-v :: 2000 - Coolant Dripping From Lower Radiator Hose

I own a Honda Crv 2000. I took the car for an oil change at a local oil change shop. They overfilled the oil. I went to the city and came back, and next day the underside of the car was oily and leaky. The car was dripping oil. I immediately siphoned out 300ml of extra oil from the car. After that the leaking stopped and it does not leak/drip anymore. At the same time I saw coolant dripping from the lower radiator hose (where it meets the radiator). I noticed when the fans come on it start dripping. But as of today the coolant dripping has stopped. I am thinking of changing the hose.

Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2012 - Coolant Leak From Lower Radiator Hose

Just had to replace radiator at 38k on my 2012 SD. Now I have another leak at 41k. Looks like it's wherever the lower radiator hose leads. Kind of a weird junction. I don't think it's coming from above there, but not sure. It's the primary dgas bottle that was low. The radiator was covered under my ESP. We'll have to see what's up with this one. Been eying a denim blue SD at dealer, thinking this is going to talk me out of it though. Not especially happy right now.

Passat (B5) :: 2002 - Lower Coolant Hose Not Attached To Pipe

I have a 2002 V6 Passat Wagon. I am hemorrhaging coolant out of my lower coolant pipe. I can reach it put my finger in a feel the coolant coming out as fast as I pour it in. I can't see any way to get at the pipe from the top and I can't see the hose that should be attached there from the top. I assume this means the front end will need to be jacked up and go at it from the bottom. Also note the intake and return from the heater in my car is mexi fixed and looped together (no heat).

Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: 1999 - Radiator Hose Have No Pressure?

this winter i have found that my truck's heater core isn't flowing, meaning i have hot on the upper hose and the lower is luke warm and there is no heat while running down the road. I have changed the t-stat and the heater core and radiator are new as of four years ago. last year i could roast a chicken with the heat. i also have no pressure in the radiator hose at all, engine runs at normal temp, no over heat situation and i don't smell any loss of antifreeze.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Hose Coming Through Radiator Fan Shroud?

Just picked up my truck from the dealer after a trans flush. While it was there I had them replace both windshield wiper nozzles. They called and told me the hoses needed to be replaced as well--- OKAY fine do it.

Come home and decided to "make sure" the trans fluid was at the correct level.

Open the hood to discover a loose black hose approximately 1/4" or so in diameter coming out of the radiator shroud directly at center of the top. The end of the hose was somewhat towards the passenger side battery.

I figured okay the tech probably just left my old windshield wiper hose on top of the motor and forgot to discard it...

I follow the hose and it appears to go in between the rubber seal for the shroud and the plastic housing. I looked back behind the fan and can see the hose twirled around an aluminum or stainless steel pipe coming up just in front of the fan but behind the numerous condensers...

MY question is two fold: Should this hose be here, or is it indeed the wiper hose that got sucked into the fan?

if it is supposed to be here, what does the end that was leaning towards the passenger battery connect to? it certainly appears to have been previously connected to something whether the washer or some other barbed fitting....

GTI 337/20th Anniversary :: Radiator Malfunction - Hot On The Top Half And Cool At The Bottom

So basically a couple months ago I picked up a 03 20th and GTI, I love the thing to pieces, recently I've got into drive it and I can watch my temp gauge steadily climb to 90 and stop. (before I go any further, I haven't gotten any overheat warnings or anything like that, I've just noticed my car is really hot all the time and the temp gauge goes to 90 within a minute or so of driving but doesn't go over). heat works fine, I've gone in the engine and tested a few things, tested the fans by jumping the connections, my large fan is dead but the small works fine. to my understanding, the large fan isn't used much unless it's really hot anyway. so I removed it and continued trying to find my problem, I felt the rad after letting the car run for a bit, the top half was hot but the bottom half was cool, took the hoses off and flushed my rad thinking maybe something was clogging it, water ran through fine, so I put it back together, put new coolant and tried again. same thing. so I took it for a rip and came back, obviously, the top hose and the rad were hot, but the bottom one was kinda warm. I looked for answers online but I can't seem to find anything like what I'm dealing with. the water pump seems to be working fine, I'm not sure how much flow is supposed to be coming through the Small hose at the top of the reservoir, But I checked it and it has a steady stream coming out of it. I've worked all the air out of the lines as well. The car isn't overheating and doesn't really pass the 90 mark, fans almost never come on but the small one kicks into low when I turn the AC on. which as far as I'm aware is what's supposed to happen.

The car feels like its running hot, checked everything I can think of. rad is hot on the top half and cools at the bottom, coolant has a steady flow back to the reservoir. no actual overheat warnings, I'm just wondering if these cars run hot normally or if I should be concerned.

Accent MC (2006-11) :: Radiator Hose Replacement?

There were some minor coolant leakage from the upper hose radiator so I have it replaced. Took me 2 hours because the thermostat housing hose neck gunk up with white lime.

Everything works fine but the car still suffering from minor coolant lost. Found some water stain over the bypass hose neck so I get it replaced too. Took me another 2 hours to get it fix because of the white gunk buildup. Secured everything including the hose and the clamps. Minor water stain still can be found at the bypass hose neck.

Replacing the radiator hose? Does it takes few days for the new radiator hose to fit 100%?
