Sometimes the sun roof of my 2001 Passat will open about 1/5 when the car is on and even when it is parked overnight. Why does this happen? Luckily it wasn't raining the other night when it happened.

View 4 RepliesToday my sunroof tilted open all by itself while I was driving, then it closed it by itself. Then it did it all over again.
A week ago it tilted open, I closed it by moving the switch to full open, then close.
In another post ("Sunroof Problem") I found one mention of this problem and the switch was the culprit.
I had to have the switch replaced?
Is it normal for my 2014's sunroof to open only 3/4 of the way, then stop? I can open it the rest of the way if I hold the button. Any way to make it open all the way with one press?

View 10 RepliesMy 2008 has about 49k miles on her and my Moonroof started acting up the other day. The tilt function works perfectly. It even slides out to max open, however when I attempt to close it, it closes about 2/3 of the way then it acts as if it senses something in the way and opens all the way back up. I didn't take anything apart, but didn't notice anything in the rails. I also didn't hear any sort of grinding or stalling on the motor. If the motor is going bad?
View 2 RepliesProblem I'm having with my sunroof on my '10 GTI. The sunroof opens an inch and makes cracking/grinding noises. Then it needs a push on the actual glass while turning the nob in order to force it to close. And the tilt function ends up with one corner of the glass further down then the other. How to fix this problem or how to remove the headliner, or if it is worth bringing to the dealer? The dealer is the last thing i want to do because my warranty is up and those jerks charge an arm and a leg on labor alone.
View 3 RepliesMy trunk opens by itself. Sometimes when I hit the door open key on the remote (I've tried the spare and it's the same). Sometimes seconds after opening doors. I've gone out to find my trunk wide open in the morning...twice in the past week! The latch works just fine. Seems to be a problem with electronics.
View 7 RepliesI recently had battery go dead from just setting, not being used. Battery now charged and working fine, however as a result, when I push the Keyfob the drivers side door opens. When I push the second time to open remaining doors, I hear a click, but the doors do not open.

View 4 RepliesI opened the door yesterday, got out of the car, then when I got back in the door wouldn't close. I did end up getting it closed but it took a lot of force and there was major resistance. When I got out, there was no resistance top open about a foot opening, just enough to squeeze out. Any more than that and I would have needed a lot of force to get it open.
View 1 RepliesI can open all the doors if I press the unlock button on the driver's side. However, suddenly, the remote (both remotes) will unlock only the driver's door & the trunk, but not the passenger & rear doors.
Locking the door manually with the key did nothing. We just replaced the car's battery (it's been 5 years), but that didn't solve the problem with the keyless entry remote. One of the remotes is rarely used (1x/week), so I'd be astonished if both keyless entry remotes needed batteries at the same second.
Came in on a cool cloudy morning to work. I listened to the torrential downpours all morning, then it cleared out. When I went out to the lot at quitting time, I was horrified to see the sunroof open. When I got in the car, it was dry, so sometime after the storms moved out, it got opened. I do leave the car unlocked, but can't imagine someone opened it, in fact I think you can't after the key has been removed for a while. Should I pull the fuse to it???

We had to manually close the sunroof. a few minutes later it did it again. Usually I'd tell her she's nuts and imagining things but i was in the car while it happened.
