We have a 2003 wagon with 1.8t automatic. We've never had any problem with this car and it only has 20k miles on it. Yesterday it just stopped running and won't start. The starter spins the motor fine and it seems to "catch" but then is stops. Battery is fine, plenty of gas, etc.
View 5 RepliesHad the oil changed yesterday and changed the air filter myself. Car is now running rough, surging, when in drive and stopped. Runs cleanly when moving and surge is significantly less in park and neutral.
View 3 RepliesI was driving along as happy as could be, and suddenly lost power. 2000-2001 Ranger, 5 speed. After I got it home, I plugged in a charger, tried jumping it and all. I was getting a few turnovers, now I only get a click. Wipers, Lights and fans all work so there is some power at least.
I finally found my Ohm Multimeter and checked the current from battery to power box.
battery + to - 12.96
battery - to power - 0.00
battery - to power + 12.96
battery + to power - 0.00
battery + to power + 0.00
Now that just seems insanely odd to me.
Car stopped running when I spray started fluid it starts up so I changed the Fuel pump and it still not starting?

Its a 1.8t once it runs for a while and i have to shut it off to get gas or stop for a quick period of time it wont start and smells like fuel.once it starts it floods. It keeps coming up with a coolant temp sensor code and a o2 code and i have replaced the coolant sensor with a green one and the thermostat. And I also replaced the n80 valve.i also did a tune up and did the valve cover gasket. i have two doing the same exact thing one with a v6 and the other is a 4cyl...
View 1 RepliesI dont know if this is related but my ignition switch went a few weeks ago, I got the part in the mail this week and was planning on changing it today, but a few days ago my 99 Passat v6 started bucking, kinda like it did when i needed motor mounts...but my engine is really weak and rough. I opened the hood and saw that my air filter hose was disconnected right after the MAF (or at least i think its the MAF).... I don't know how long its been sucking up dirty air. but does that sound like they are related? a friend of mine said if i can see the butterfly valve in the air hose, open it up and spray a can of carb cleaner in it, put the filter back on, start the car and let it run, then do it again with another can and it should fix it. I cant see the butterfly air valve in the hose, since the hose goes down behind the engine. Should i just spray it in anyway? or does have to be press on the gas pedal...
View 3 RepliesI have an 05, 2.0 TDI which recently got a a PO118 fault. My mechanic replaced the green top sensor with one with a blue top (having been told that the green top sensors have been updated to blue). I am still getting an occasional PO118 fault but now the auxiliary (a/c) fan or the radiator starts running within a few seconds of start up, A/C on or not. SO, bad sensor, wrong sensor or something else entirely?

The problem I noticed is that the ICE is running too much, for example even when I am stopped after 30-40 minutes of continuous drive (no traffic jam), hot weather (about 27 C degrees, 80 F), battery showing 7 lines.
Even when I try to enter EV mode I am not allowed.
See some pictures below. All 3 made when stopped. In the past the ICE was off in these conditions.
Maybe the ventilation of hybrid system is bad ? I see no other explanations.
I present to you now, for your review, a 1993 Geo Metro, 1.0 L 3 cyl with automatic trans and A/C. It is a Vin Code 6 Engine (5 bolt crank pulley).This car stopped running on the road without warning. When I finally took off the distributor I discovered a spiderweb of copper wire that apparently came from the Camshaft Position Sensor (some call it the ignition pickup and others erroneously call it a "module.") Full Service Manual says it is indeed the Camshaft Position Sensor.
I thought, no problem, must have worn out or maybe something wrong with the signal rotor. I took the distributor out of my other 1993 geo metro and installed it in the ailing one.Cranked it twice, it almost started then just died.When I took off the distributor, would you believe what I found?It happened to the NEW distributor. Copper wire spiderweb!What is causing my distributor to eat these sensors? It cannot be mechanical, it must be electrical.
I was driving to work this morning. It was very cold and snowy out. I was not driving fast < 30 MPH. All of a sudden my car stopped running while in gear. Engine light, oil light and something else came on. I have half my oil life left. I had no breaks or steering anything. I was able to get stopped, put car in park to prevent rolling backwards, turned the car off and restarted. No lights came on and was able to drive. I was going to have the car towed, but I was told by a mechanic that he cannot diagnose the problem unless the warning lights i.e... engine are on. View 4 RepliesSo about 3 weeks ago, I was driving down the road at about 55 mph, on cruise control, when my car just started slowing down. I looked to see all of my dashboards lights on and I realized my car was not running. I shifted into neutral and the car started right up again, but when I pushed on the gas it just kind of stuttered and shuttered before dying again. When I came to a stop, again the car started right up, but repeated the shuttering and hesitating when I pushed on the gas and tried to get going again.
So, I repeated, but this time i just pushed very gently on the gas, getting up to between 5-10 mph before the car died again. At this point, it just stopped running completely. The engine would turn over, but would not keep running. When I got it into the shop, the mechanic said they put a fuel pressure gauge on there and the readings indicated that there was plenty of pressure, no problems the fuel pump or lines.
After further research, the mechanic said he thought it was an electrical problem, that it could be the crankshaft sensor or the ignition switch module, but he just did not really know for sure. I had him replace the crankshaft sensor, since it was the cheaper part, and it didn't fix the problem. So now I am just kind of stuck on what to do here.
My 2007 Accent just quit running setting in traffic. Checked fuel pump fuses and relay, all ok. What else could it be? Has 100,000 miles on it. Just turned over yesterday.
View 10 RepliesMy wife drives a 1995 Chevy Astro. It has twice now stopped running with no warning. This happened while driving down the road. The headlights and engine cut out, but the turn signals, power windows, radio display, and such have power. Once it sits for a couple of hours, it starts right up and runs fine for weeks.
Is there an electrical connection of some kind between the fuel pump and the headlights? What might be going wrong?
I have 1996 grand Cherokee with 190,000 miles on it. A few weeks ago it stopped running while going up hill.It restarted after 15 minutes and ran for 2 minutes and it did that for few times till I decided to get it towed. Then my mechanic looked on it a few times and finally called me that it would run in second gear and he did not know what is exactly wrong with it. It could be driven home in 2nd gear without any issues.
View 3 RepliesMy Dad has a 1992 Toyota Pick-up with a 22RE engine it is a 2 wheel drive automatic. The truck stopped running while idling, he did code tests on it and they came up clear. He can get it to run on propane but not on gas. He did change all the spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor, and spark plug wires.

The other day I was traveling on the freeway, and suddenly the engine stopped running, radio, ignition, power steering, etc. and then as the car was slowing down everything started working, engine came back on and everything is fine. Then a few days afterward, I took the truck around the corner to the store, started the truck up then cam e out of the parking and this time everything shut down for good. The lights work, the emergency flashers work, but when you you turn the ignition, no lights come on, no buzzer, no engine turning over, no nothing...?

View 14 RepliesMy 2007 Jeep Commander cut out while I was driving on a precarious mountain road in sub zero conditions. We live in a remote, wild, and frozen part of Idaho and I rely on my Jeep to get my children around this sparsely populated area, so when my Jeep "just stopped running" while I was driving it yesterday I was scared to death. I was able to restart it and immediately took it to a mechanic. He said he can't be sure, but his best guess would be that it needs a new Crank Sensor - but he can't guarantee that will be the solution. So I either take a chance and put in the new Crank Sensor or "spend a load of money on diagnostics". Car just cutting out while driving, what was the problem/solution?
