I have a 02 passat 1.8t 5sp so my question is does clutch catch all the way at the top. this doesn't seem right to me because my brother has had a jetta and the new mk5 gti and they both catch low.

View 2 Replies1998 Subaru Forester with a weird clutch problem. Clutch works fine in cold weather, but for the last 3 summers when driving in city traffic, the clutch gets spongy and starts to catch lower and lower to the floor. Car has about 125,000mi bought it 2 years ago and don't know when or if the clutch was ever replaced.
View 4 RepliesMy trunk latch will not catch. It will close and stay closed, but when driving it trips the sensor that it's open. The Car will not alarm unless I push down on the trunk, but if a car drives by it trips the alarm.
I have removed the liner to expose the latch assembly, but can't find anything broken. Have been unable to remove the hard plastic surrounding the latch itself.
Here is leaking from the nozzle on the bottom of the can.... opened my hood to check it today and it was leaking condensation and i could feel air blowing out of it. How to fix it? i have no issues cause by it, no CEL and no power loss.

View 6 RepliesRecently I bought an 01 Passat with a V6. Intermittently, when I go to start it, it cranks and cranks and doesn't catch. When this happens, the EPC and check engine light come on.
Other than that it is a fine car, I'm the second owner, and it was thoroughly maintained at VW dealerships and specialist. Recently there was a new oil pan and starter put in (w/in a month--previous owners).
Have a 2013 Passat Tdi. It seems that sometimes when i accelerate the car doesn't move it has a flat spot as if the transmission is trying to catch a gear. I know this might sound minor to some folks. However on several occasions I've pulled out into oncoming traffic not expecting it to have a flat spot in the car not moving at all. What's up with this?
On the highway no problem and normal acceleration no problem but if you're going from a stop or pulling away from a intersection seems that happen more so than I would like.
I was just curious.... at Stage 2+ on a Golf R is an oil catch can a necessary part for the car? Or does the oil burn itself of over time?

View 4 Replies2003 Jetta GLS 1.8T with the 5-speed transmission. The car is fine when it's driven conservatively. but when I try to get on it or pass in traffic, it feels as if the car is trying to catch up with the engine. Press the gas, the RPM spikes, the car slowly gets up to speed and the RPM drops back down to a normal level.
For example, on the highway the car usually sits at 3000 RPM @ 70 MPH. If I want to get it up to 80, the RPMs jump to 4500, the car gets up to 80 and the RPMs drop back down to 3100.
Some days it's pretty bad, other days it's fine. My guess is that the transmission is slipping, the clutch is going or the turbo is bad.
My 2001 Saab 9-3 (manual) won't start. It chugs and chugs and chugs but it won't catch. We've figured out that it isn't the fuel pump, but nobody can figure out why it won't start.

It just made a grumbling noise and sounded like it was trying to start but couldn't. I got it to start after flooding it and now I have to flood it every time I try to start my car. View 1 RepliesI have a 99 Lumina 3.1l. I live in a cold climate (-15f). I hadn't driven the car in 2 months, and the block heater doesn't work as there is a short somewhere.
I want to get the car on the road again and before insuring it I tried to start it Friday. To its credit it started up almost right away - its always been great in the cold. I let it run for 30 minutes to heat everything up.
I insured it Saturday and went to start it and won't go. Turned over & over & over, and the engine will chug every now and then but won't catch. Its a few degrees colder than it was Friday, but not by much.
It did have just under a quarter tank of gas, so I'm wondering if it could be condensation in the fuel system somewhere that was sucked in while idling on Friday? If so I don't really know what to do about that. Or could there are other things to check/try.
I'm replacing the plug on the block heater, but don't think thats the short. I was going to drive it to the garage to have them replace the cord (as I doubt its the block heater itself) but have to get it started to do that
I have a 2006 Ford Taurus SE. Tried to start the car, it would turn over, but would not catch. I shut it off and tried again and it started right up. Is this a sign of trouble and needs something?

If she tries to start the car and it cranks, but doesn't catch, if you wait 15 -20 minutes, or longer, it will turn over and run fine. We are thinking crank position sensor or possibly fuel pump...
View 4 RepliesDriving home in my 04, and it just died, no caution lights, still have battery power, and starter is engaging but engine wont catch, like no fuel or spark. Found no burnt out fuses, and checked the fuel pump relay. Pulled out the back seat, turned key and heard the fuel pump, so that is working, replaced the crackshaft position sensor, still no engine start.

My wife owns a 2004 hyundai santa fe, and recently i replaced the belt and idle pulley, I've worked on a few cars in my life and understand the basics and some on how to work on a car.But this has me baffled, the other day i decided to take her car to work. She warned me it had a a slow turn over sometimes i told her okay and headed off to work, drove fine to work no start up issue, but then i went to lunch and it had a slow start like she said. Then in the afternoon started just fine for the drive home to work. I stopped at a gas station to put a little fuel in and the car wouldn't start, it would just release a small cloud of smoke from where the the starter was, so i said ah loose starter wire. That however isn't the case, pulled the plastic shield from the bottom off abd the heat shield off the starter just to find nothing was wrong with either instead its the wire above that running from the wiring harness to the motor, how to fix this issue? View 1 RepliesThe passenger door doesn't always want to close? It's being very finicky. Basically, every so often (with no regularity) it seems as though the door won't "catch" and close. If I pull but the interior handle, and/or exterior handle a few times it eventually gets there.
Like (probably most of you) I replaced the actuator, and even had to replace the window motor on this side, so I'm intimately familiar with the inner workings of these doors, and how everything has to be taken apart to do any work with them.
It's pretty annoying, and I'm worried the thing could just fly open while I'm on the road.
