Back in April when I was getting my car inspected the mechanic told me I needed new rear brake pads. I knew I did so I let him change them.
Now I get noisy brake pads this moaning sound out of them when I apply the brakes while I'm backing out of a parking spot or my driveway. I've only driven about 5 or 6 hundred miles since then.
I start hearing sound when i hit brake, i haven't checked the pad yet but i think it is time to change the pad. BTW, i have 2012 Camry SE I4 with 36xxx miles. So should i go with toyota pad or aftermarket pad?
View 14 Replies2008 Passat Komfort Wagon with 34,500 miles. Started to get grinding sound when I applied brakes, which diminishes as I drive. Thought it was rust, but sound is very loud and sounds just like pads are gone and digging into rotors. The brake warning light is not on.
Dealer told me rear caliper was closing unevenly and recommended service---not covered by warranty of course. When I picked-up car same noise as before. The service manager told be that the car was just washed and the rust built up in the last hour---I could believe some built-up, but the sounds made my teeth ache. When we went for a test drive the noise got quiter, but was still apparent. The SM told me this is a "normal" noise. I have had many cars with disc brakes, dating back to a 1960 Jaguar; none have made this "normal" sound.
Having trouble with front brake pads rattling? About a month ago, I replaced pads - rotors - caliper pins on my 20th GLI. I know these cars ride a bit stiff but it sounds like my front end is about to fall off. All brake parts were torqued to spec - I've gone through all T25/T30 torx front end screws etc and I just can't find the rattle??? This has only started within the last few days. Any other places to check for obvious loose bolts etc?
View 15 RepliesI just replaced the front break pads. I didn't replace the rotors or get them machined, didn't look like they needed them. Once I pushed on the brakes (truck off) I noticed that brake fluid spilled out the brake reservoir. I'm guessing it happened when I compressed the piston into the caliper? I took some of the fluid out of the reservoir and now its at MAX (I didn't bleed them). I've only been only be able to stop and go on the driveway (I'm waiting on a new radius arm bracket). The brakes seems spongy, the brake hits the floor. ABS and Brake lights came on then turned off once I started to pump them when I turned the truck 'on'. Do I just need to actually drive and "break" the breaks in?

I only have 22k miles on my 3is and that seems like a really look mileage for the breaks to be worn off. I dont track ny car and i pretty much drive slow. How long are your brake pads lasting? Is this normal for the 3is pads to wear off this fast?
View 14 RepliesSo I was told I had a brake light out? Went and bought new bulb and replaced. Turn on headlights and the single filament lights. so when brakes are applied the second filament should light up that give the brighter affect.
Well when brakes applied the bulb goes out completely? Take foot off brake and the single filament comes back on. The other tail light operates as it should. Even used bulb from working tail light with same results.
So on our trip up here I experienced a strange problem. Normally when I apply my brakes my trailer brakes kick in via the controller. This time when I apply the brakes I'm only getting my truck brakes. I can still use the brake controller manually to slow down but it's worrying. What is going on.
View 7 RepliesMy brake pads been rattling around whenever i hit the brake slowly. I think its the front one. My car is 160k miles and still using the original brake hardware kit. Will the new one fix this annoying rattle? I just cant see how a new piece of metal will stop the pads to move around.

View 11 RepliesI recently had rotors and brake pads replaced on my 2007 Camry (front pads/rotors and read pads/rotors).
It was done last week and she is braking fine. But sometimes now when I brake there's a low-medium squeaking sound from the brakes. Is this normal / what's the likely cause?
My 2008 gs 350 E-brake or parking brake isn't as tight anymore on a hill it doesn't stop my car when applied when parked how to adjust this? I rather not go to the dealer if its a simple fix?
View 5 RepliesI have recently had the rear brakes on 2001 Aurora replaced. When car is driven about 20 minutes, there is a rubbing sound from the rear when the brakes are applied. I have taken the car back to the shop and they said for some reason the new pads were worn and put new pads on thinking it was bad pads. The noise continues. Is there anything special that must be done on this car when the rear brakes are serviced? Are there special type of brake pads that must be used for rear disc brakes? I am just going to sell the car if I can't figure out how to fix this problem soon.
View 6 RepliesI bought my 06 Corolla LE last week and just started hearing a nasty squeaking sound whenever I applied the brakes. I took it to the dealer today and 4 hours later he calls me and tells me that he had to readjust my back brakes and lube them up and it should be fine..About a half hour into driving the car around town I start hearing this noise again. Now he's telling me to bring back in the morning to see what the issue is.
My question is besides the brake pads and rotors which were checked by another mechanic that said they were good what the hell could be the issue?
my 99 s/w 2 started making a squeaking sound coming from the front right wheel area it goes away when I apply the brakes? is that one of those built in warning features to let you know the brake pads are getting low? the brakes have 86,000 miles on them.
View 2 RepliesI have a question: when physical brakes applied (at the end of the slight braking, or when speed is small, or when gasoline engine starts on parking car, or when i apply brakes on parking) i hear light "pssst" sound. It is like sound from back door stay assembly, when i open back door, or like suspension shock adsorber works. My local service bleed the brake fluid, but it doesn't work. When we bleeding rear brakes (left and right) and opens bleeding plug, that noise sounds continuously until we close bleeding plug. And there is no air in old brake fluid... Technician says, that sound is normal, but i also have Toyoyta Prius 20 and there is no noise while pressing brake pedal... I just want to ask: is that sound normal for Prius 30 or not?

View 10 RepliesI noticed yesterday a sound, like a grinding sound, *sometimes* as I apply the brakes to stop. I'm at 68k. The noise only happens when the brakes are applied so I suspect there is an issue with my brakes again.
Some BACKGROUND info: At around 60k (or 8 months ago roughly), the front pads were replaced after the brakes were squealing and a pulsating brake pedal when stopping. The pads were replaced by a dealer. In addition, both front/rear rotors were turned at the same time. Rear pads had 40% at the time and were not replaced.
Some weeks later the pulsation came back and I went back again and they machined them again. For this current issue I was thinking about taking the car to someplace local (not a dealer) and getting a free brake evaluation of what is going on.
I'm also concerned that all this machining the dealer did to eliminate the pulsation may have decreased the life of the rotors and perhaps they need replacement now.
Yesterday I had my snow tires installed at Costco. Immediately afterward I noticed that the rear brakes squeak when I apply the brakes. I took the car back to Costco and asked them if they applied the proper torque or if anything unusual appeared during the change-over. They said no.... I loosened and retorqued the wheels and no change......they still squeak when I apply the brakes.
Questions: I assume there are wear indicators on the rear pads, could this be causing the squeeling? If so, aren't they supposed to squeel all the time when they reach their limit? I haven't inspected the wear yet...... What the tolerance is for the amount of lining on the pad. Could this be a rotor problem? I"m not feeling any pedal vibration.
Having issues with the auto-ebrake? My friend has a 09 passat with the push button ebrake. He was changing his brake pads when his ebrake will not release. He was told by VW to not use a c-clamp to depress them as they would mess up the sensors or something along those lines.
