Passat (B5) :: Won't Scan For Emission?

Jun 1, 2009

I took my car to the mechanic last week to get inspected and it wouldn't scan for emissions. It just wouldn't scan.. I guess the computer wouldn't even register that the car was plugged in to it.

Passat (B5) :: 2001 - Getting Error Code P0343 While Using Scan Tool?

2001.5 1.8t, I have this p0343 code when I used the scan tool at murrays or oreileys whatever the h they are now (it means something like cam angle sensor high input). The t-belt was due for service a while ago , am I looking at a sensor problem or a wiring problem or a timing/engine problem? How should I check and where? I hear the timing belt can be a pain on the 1.8s, I have done a mk4 trans and a bit of other stuff but I do have a lot going on right at the moment and I'm not sure if I have time. I have a feeling if I take it in for service they will probably find blow through from the turbo and pull the engine because of "sludge".

Passat (B5) :: 1999 - Failed Emission Test

I recently failed emission test for my 1999 V6 Passat. I replaced the cats., thermostat, O2 sensors (before cats), and the list goes on. Is there a reflash in the ECM that needs to be reset that only VW can do with their scanner?

Passat (B5) :: O2 Sensor Codes - Evaporative Emission Control System

We are selling the girlfriends 01 Passat. I pulled the codes tonight for a long standing check engine light knowing it had one of the 02 sensors bad. Here are the three codes I received from the scanner:

P0130 - 02 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank I Sensor 1)

P0455 - Evaporative emission control leak detected (large)

P0441 Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect Purge Flow

So is it one thing causing all three or are there common things to look at. We can't really afford to go replacing all the emission system sensors and hoses etc. in hopes of finding the right piece. Gas cap is screwed on tight and codes were cleared a couple times to make sure.

Passat (B5) :: 2001 - Code P0171 Too Lean Bank 1 - Emission Light Comes On

I recently had some work done on my 2001 VW Passat 1.8T (timing, water pump, major tune up). IT had 72K miles.....

Now I'm getting the following:

Code P0171 Too Lean (Bank 1).
Emission Light turns on / off.

Check engine light comes on and stays on after about 20 miles. Can this be the oxygen sensor?

Passat (B5) :: MIL Came On - Code P0455 / EVAP Emission Control System Leak?

New owner of a 2003 1.8TPassat (29,000mi) as of the last 2 weeks and have just had my MIL come on. Scanned it at home with my Actron CP9125 scanner and got this code (P0455) which reads in the scanners manual as "EVAP Emission Control System Leak (Large)". Didn't know if this was a generic description of the code or VW has a more specific definition. What precisely this is in reference to, gas cap, vacuum hose????? Or what VW's actual description of this code is?

Passat (B5) :: 2001 - Emission Workshop / Misfire On 4 Cylinders And System Too Lean Codes

I am getting the dreaded emission workshop.

The codes i am getting are p0301-p0304 and p0171

Which are misfire on 4 cylinders and system to lean (bank 1).

Here is what I have done:

Got the 4 ignition coils replace, replaced the mass air flow, replaced the air filter, replace the plugs.

I just check the L wire and it doesn't have any cracks or holes

I don't know what to do next.

Passat (B7) :: Evaporative Emission System Leak Detection Pump Sense Circuit Intermittent / Erratic

My 2.5L is throwing a check engine light with only 5000ish miles?!

P2407 - Powertrain - Auxiliary Emission Controls - "Evaporative Emission System Leak Detection Pump Sense Circuit Intermittent/Erratic"

I did a quick google search and apparently it MAY be due to a loose gas filler cap. I tightened it and drove around the block. Still on...

And (from the google search), this code isn't common with VWs.. (in fact, couldn't find a single VW with this code?).

Ford :: Can A Faulty Injector Cause P0301 Scan Code?

The vehicle is a 2002 Ford Windstar van with a 3.8L V-6 engine. It has a constant miss on the #1 cylinder. That's the one on the backside of the V-6 on the passenger end of the engine. I have changed the plug(s) and still had the miss and P0301 code. The plug's wire has about 7500 Ohms, so it's not the problem. I hear no snapping of a high voltage short to ground. A friend suggested that the injector might be the issue, but I am of the opinion that the scan code shows only a high tension or secondary ignition system issue, and not fuel injection issues. I'm thinking the problem is more likely to be the coil pack.

My Lincoln LS 2004 V6 3.0 has check engine light flash. It says the Engine Cylinder 1 and 2 misfired with computer scan. If it is in the rear of cylinder 1 on passenger side, and I want to change the cylinder 2 ignition coin pad, do I need to remove the engine part on top it?

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Scan Gauge Just Went Blank

My ScanGauge just went blank, which was nuisance because I like to monitor it in the mountain climbs. It felt like a 'naked' dash without it. My separate pyrometer was the only additional info I had. The ScanGauge only has a few thousand miles on it. Wondering how reliable these things are before considering getting another, or inquiring about a fix I know I will first have to double check that the OBII port is still OK, but I expect it is.
