Passat (B6) :: Puff Of Black Smoke Come Out When Shifted Gears

So the wife was following me home yesterday and I got on it at a stop light. She said that I had a puff of black smoke come out when I shifted gears. The car is a 2006 2.0 m/t w/ about 60,000 miles. Never had the oil light comes on but dipstick is always dryer than it should be although dealer always says I'm fine. Today my brother-in-law was following me and I told him to watch. He said he never saw a puff when I was shifting but that once at idle he saw a slight black smoke. Car is cpo for another year or about 13,000 miles so it's not an immediate issue but if it's a problem I want it fixed before warranty expires. Is this just normal?

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2003 - Puff Of Black Smoke If Get On The Throttle Going Down The Road

I have a 03 6.0. I just had all the injectors changed a new fuel pump, spring in the regulator and fuel filters ouch. The truck runs great but I get a puff of black smoke if I get on the throttle going down the road it seem to clear up as soon as the turbo spools up. I that ok or do I need to take it back to the dealer?

Passat (B6) :: Emits Black Smoke With Black Colored Water While Accelerating

I've been told by friends driving behind me that every time I accelerate I emit a plume of black smoke followed by a stream of black colored "water". I checked today by having the wife rev the engine to 4.5k...sure enough, black water shoots out of my exhaust, probably 3 oz. I also see a black puff of smoke which I assume is more normal than the water. Is this commonplace ?

Passat (B5) :: Noticed A Puff Of Blue Smoke From The Exhaust

I was watching my wife drive off yesterday, and noticed a puff of blue smoke (oil) from the exhaust when she started moving.
This is a 2000 V6 passat. The car has a valve clatter when you first put a load on the engine that goes away quickly. I've read that this is likely the cam tensioners leaking down - is that right.

Passat (B6) :: Small White Puff Of Smoke When Accelerating From A Stop

B6 Exhaust smoke issues. I'll be taking the car into the dealer for a look.

Car has 2,500 miles, and I can't see any smoke while driving. Only someone following me sees it. It's only a small white puff of smoke when I'm accelerating from a stop. I'm told it doesn't last long, and is just a small puff, not a cloud.

Passat (B6) :: Loss Of Power / Jerking And Black Smoke

Vehicle details : PASSAT 2.0 TDI 170 BHP DSG - 2007 ... 160KM

Problem:-

>>RPM doesn't climb as it should and esp in the run up to 3 gear and the DSG up shifts too quickly 4th and 5th

>>Loss of power. Pressing the gas pedal during all this leads to lots of black smoke and jerking but eventually the car picks up rpm and speed. Am I stuck in limp-home mode here?

>> No CEL light (yet)

The problem becomes very prominent when the engine warms up fully. Its drivable before that. Driving it in Sports mode is the only saving grace. Note that the car it is nothing like how it should be in sports mode, but feels better. I can hear the turbo whistle only when the engine is cold.

Initially, the Engine mounts were thought to be the culprit (for jerking and then ECU reducing power) and then later the EGR value unit (jerking/pinking and power loss).

Work done so far :

1. Original VW Timing Belk Kit (incl water pump) - September 2012

2. Engine Mounts changed - - September 2012

3. Has been plugged into VAG Diagnostic software and an intermittent error was detected for EGR.So, EGR valve control unit was changed - late December 2012

4. Engine Oil (5W-30, fully Synth) and filter changed three time in space of last 10K KMs after I bought the car in September 2012. This is something I wanted to get done anyway to flush the engine

5. Used injector cleaning additives couple of times -December 2012

6. ECU (error-code) reset procedure, just a couple of days ago. This actually seemed to remove some of the jerking and loss of power, but it appears to be coming back now.

7. Transmission reset - yesterday . Did this anyway although the DSG seems to be fine, no problems with the gear shifts

Passat (B6) :: 2008 - Blowing Out Black Smoke On Hard Acceleration?

Ok so the wife and I were heading home, she was in her 2.0t sedan, I was in my 3.6 4motion wagon. I got stuck behind a slow driver on the highway (doing 50 in a 70 mph zone) so I get in the passing lane and I floor it to pass him. When I get home, my wife tells me she saw a good amount of black/blue smoke coming out my tail pipes when I went to pass the other driver. This is on a engine with 2400 miles.

I take a look, and the chrome exhaust tips I had installed not long ago are now all black, covered in a oily thick residue. These same exhaust tips were on my previous 07 3.6 4motion wagon for 10k miles and was still shiny when I took them off. but after about 1k miles on the 08, they are now all black. I check the oil and it still reads full.

So what could this black smoke and this oily residue on the exhaust tips be caused by? should I be concerned? Engine runs fine with the exception of sometimes stalling when trying to start it after a short stop. (VAG-COM doesn't show any error codes logged.

Passat (B5) :: Loud Pop When Boost Started / Black Smoke From Exhaust

While I was pulling off and boost started to build up I heard a loud "pop' ( sounds like when you disconnected the hose from an air compressor ). After this happen the car doesn't wanna idle or rev up past 2k rpm'ish. I was getting a ton of black smoke from the exhaust and had a very heavy scent of gas. Does this sound like a blown turbo symptoms?

Golf V R32 :: Clutch Alignment / Car Shifted 2 Gears And Each With A Spark Cut

Ok at waterfest I got a UM ECU/DSG tune with the spark cut option. I now noticed that once in a while, only in regular D mode, there will be a very very aggressive and uncomfortable shift. It only really seems to happen under higher load and form 3rd to 4th or 4th to 5th. The car shifts and there is like a double spark cut pop instantaneously after each other. It feels like the car shifted 2 gears and each with a spark cut. I called UM and they said sometimes it can be fixed with a clutch alignment. Car hs 56k mile on it and it was just recently DSG serviced.

Ford Ranger / B-Series :: Soft Clutch / Gears Grind When Shifted Especially 1st And 2nd

I have a 96 2.3L 5 speed Ranger. The clutch has been getting softer and softer until about two weeks ago when I couldn't drive it anymore because gears would grind like crazy when I shifted, especially 1st and 2nd. I had no time and just drove my other truck but now I've had a bit of time to look into it. I went to bleed the clutch and then realized there was no fluid in there. So I tried to put fluid in but nothing happened. The clutch is still extremely soft. The truck won't even start when I have it in gear, it turns over and kind of lurches forward, even with the clutch pushed all the way in. It starts right up in neutral. So my guess is I have to do what I really don't want to... replace the clutch!!

Is it possible that since I just put more fluid in the clutch it may take awhile for that fluid to get into the cylinder and I have to bleed it again?

Camry :: 07 Puff Of Blue Smoke Smoking At Start Up?

I have a 07 camry 4 cylinder with about 80k miles on it. Now on cold starts i started to notice that it will have a puff of blue smoke out the exhaust then it will go away right away and when i drive it there is no smoke and the car drives fine.

I did some research and Im thinking that it is the valve seals. Now my question has tried to sea foam it and then run thicker oil to see it it will stop the smoking? or will i just have to replace the valve seals?

Well its a 1.8t pretty much stock except the previous owner added a turbo-back exhaust and has an apr tune running the 91/93 octane tune and they also deleted the stock airbox.

After the car warms up sometimes I'll get a pretty big puff of smoke on acceleration from a stop. sort of bluish in color and it happens randomly, not every time. I usually have to add oil about every week. I have taken it to a mechanic but told me it wasnt the turbo ( cause thats what i thought at first) and that it might be valve seals instead. I scanned for codes since CEL went on and i got a p0136 o2 sensor code and p0411.

Saab - 9-3 :: Whining Sound Then A Puff Of Smoke - Shot Turbo?

My son has a Saab 9-3 that we have spent several thousand dollars on repairing since we bought it for $3200 less than a year ago.The car has a little less than 100,000 miles on it. Now have about $7300 in it. Had motor rebuilt, water pump replaced and several other more minor repairs. Was driving it this weekend when he heard a loud whining sound then a puff of black smoke boiled out of the exhaust. It still turns over and runs but we had it towed to a shop. My husband things the turbo is shot. Could it be something other than the whole turbo having to be replaced? If it does, is this going to cost a fortune? Should we even put any more into this car? We have so much in it now that we hate to throw it away, but afraid of other major repairs adding to what we have already put in it.

Camry :: 2000 - Blowing Out Puff Of White Smoke When Car First Starts

I have a 4 cylinder 2000 Camry that I recently took to the shop because my check engine light was on and it was blowing out a puff of white smoke when the car first starts. I was told it was an EGR problem and this is what I had fixed:

"Upon client approval, remove and replace defective EGR Bypass Vacuum Valve with new (OE) EGR Bypass Vacuum Valve. Test drive vehicle following service to confirm proper operation. Warranty on parts and labor is 2 years or 20,000 miles (whichever comes first). Warranty valid at FIXCARNOW locations only. "

The problem is my car is still blowing out smoke, the check engine light is off, but it is having the same problems it did before. My concern is that either they didn't properly diagnose the problem,even though they ran a full diagnostic on the car, or just didn't fix it.

Dodge - Ram :: 2010 - Emitting Puff Of Grey Smoke On Startup

I have a 2010 Ram 1500 4x4 quad cab, 4.7L, 25,000 miles. When it sits for a few days, it will emit a puff of grey smoke on starting. It won't do it the rest of the day, and even the next day, but after about 3 days, it will do it. The truck sits nose up on a sloping driveway with a slope of about 1'/20' when parked. Truck runs great otherwise. Dealer says that this is normal for that engine, but I doubt it, as I don't see it discussed anywhere. Is the dealer right or just trying to get me past the new car warranty?

150,000 No loss of power. Only very small loss of oil in 3000 miles. Could it be valve seals. At what point is this a fix it problem. Would like to run car as long as possible. Great car. I had valve seals replaced years ago in a Chevy 305. That was so bad that I needed a stand off plug to prevent fouling and skipping. Should I look to trade or will the fix not be too bad.

I have a 00 dodge caravan. Has always been a good van. Recently when I start it up first thing in the morning there is a puff of blue smoke come out of the exhaust. This will not show up again if you start the van up wth in an hour or so. If you leave it for 3 or more hours you will get a puff of blue smoke but not as much as the one after it has sat all night. What this might be????
