Had a little accident with the '12 Passat and the front left side of the bumper popped out a little bit. I have very little experience working with the outer body of cars so I am a little bit hesitant about whether if I should just remove the entire bumper and readjust it, or is there a way that I can realign it without removing it entirely? Though I have no problem removing the bumper if needed.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2012 sedan. I am not sure what happened, I don't know that I'm getting the full story. I bought the 2012 Accent for my partner, I drive an 11' Santa Fe. Anyhow, the front bumper on the passenger side appears to be separating from the body of the car underneath where it clips in under the fender/headlight area. I snapped it back in and it appeared to be secure. Went out to the garage last night and, well... it's popped back out but looks worse than it did before. Is it just clips that hold the bumper on that could have broke? And if so, do I have to replace the entire bumper to correct this?
View 14 RepliesI have a 2012 SE v6 with 1600 miles on it. About a week ago, I noticed my bumper cover pulled away from the corner of the headlight and there was a noticeable gap. I pushed on it, and heard a click. The bumper stayed in place. After a couple days driving, it came loose again. I didnt touch it so the Service Writer would see it first hand. Of course, his first instinct was to puch on it, but I got loud quickly, so he kept his hands to himself, and heard me out. I knew if he clicked it back into place I would be SOL. He admitted something needed to be done, not just click it back.
When I picked it up, he said it was a known issue, and there is a TSB on it. He claimed they replaced a bracket. The invoice reads, "ADDED FELT TO TIGHTEN FIT". Yeah, Im sure that will hold just long enough for them to wash their hands of it.
I just did a front bumper repair and now I need something to mount my plate because because in Ontario we need a plate in the front and the back. I current have it zip tied to the lower grill. Any good option for a mount that doesn't involve drilling?

I accidentally lost one of those metal nuts that goes underneath the bumper - its like a hexagon if I remember correctly. - I had to use a torque wrench to open them and there was like 8 or 10 total.

View 2 RepliesI have a rental 2012 Avalon for two weeks. Yesterday I noticed extensive scratches at the front/right corner of the front bumper. The scratches could be covered with two hands. Some scratches are as deep as the primer, but not on the plastic.
I am pretty sure that they are not there until last one or two days ( it has been raining, they would not be very visible when wet). The scratches looks kind of old, could it be that they were fixed in a substandard way so that they are washed off in the rain and became visible?
Was talking to a cab company running over a hundred Prius, they like the gas mileage.
Biggest problem running a hundred plus Prius in LA is the skirt front bumper is so low to the ground (for better aerodynamics) ... less than 5 inches ground clearance when loaded ... it hits the ground and bows the side moldings of the bumper.

View 7 RepliesCheck engine light popped on (first time ever) at 76,000 miles. Had my brother read the code with this engine diagnostic tool and it said "Fuel Cap". No big deal...
Take it to Hyundai, nope, not fuel cap... it's an Emissions/Evap control valve leaking above the fuel tank somewhere.
When I was leaving for work, I noticed that the driver side of my front spoiler popped out (where it meets the wheel well). I tried to push it in but it wouldn't stay. I saw that there are 2 slits that look like a point for something from the spoiler to clip onto the bumper but I see nothing on the spoiler that will clip to them. I have a 2007 SE.

View 2 Repliesfirst, it was a crack. then not too much later a pop. a piece of glass fell out of the cracked lens. water in the housing = blown bulb.
I love the info screen that tells me the right fog light is out!

View 6 RepliesFirst, let me address existing issues with my VW 2000 Passat:
- My mechanic has told me that my turbo is slightly cracked and oil is dripping from it as I was not allowing my car to warm up/cool down after driving. He said that the damage done was not much, but I should allow my car to warm up/cool down from now. This was back in September/October, and I have been allowing 1 min- 1.5 mins for both warm up and cool down as I tend not to drive more than twenty miles in a single trip.
- While checking the oil level roughly two-three weeks ago, about 100-150mL worth of synthetic oil spilled into the the tube where the dipstick goes. No effects were noted in the next week.
Now, my problem is within the past week starting up my car has been a strange ordeal. Immediately upon ignition, until about 3-5 seconds after, the engine seems sluggish - similar to when the battery is low from leaving the lights on overnight, for example. However, the engine has had no problem actually starting. Once it starts it acts normal, but soon the engine makes wheezing noises as if gasping. Accompanying the noises is a strange alternation in my lights between full strength and a dim strength I have never encountered before. This wheezing, and the strange light effect, last for roughly 1 minute. This has all been consistent for the past week. While driving home after work today the CEL popped on.
It is worth noting that the last few weeks have been especially cold, with the temperatures at which I'm starting my car being from 5-18 degrees Fahrenheit.
