I got my Passat about 1 month ago, and I have this pull to the right. Which is annoying, as I drive quite a bit on the highway.
At the dealer, they "fixed" it by moving the tires around and matching tires with the same side wall rigidity. I got my car back, and it's still pulling to the right.
As the title says.... it slipped on a first gear pull and then another time on the highway on the on ramp in high RPM in second....
View 4 RepliesAs we know, flashing dash lights are a part of owning a Volkswagen. Even moreso a modded Volkswagen. Last night I was treated to my first CEL during 3rd gear pull merging onto the highway. At 4200 RPM, the car cut timing and throttle ferociously and the CEL came on and flashed for about 10 seconds. The road was rough so I anticipated that it was the car registering a knock and Bronson said it could've been that. I pulled over, checked everything I could visually at 1:00 AM and it all seemed fine. Car accelerated and boosted well from then on, on the way home.
This morning I got in for the drive to work and noticed within 2-3 miles that the car was idling strangely. Not long after, the CEL came on. It would surge from 1,000 to 1,300 RPM randomly. I took it back home to pick up my VCDS and my laptop and scanned the following codes:

P0300 - 001 - - Intermittent

Since then I have checked:
- Intake hoses/clamps
- Intercooler hoses/clamps
- Diverter valve hoses/clamps
- Throttle body pipe/clamps
- PCV hoses (The PCV on the valve cover was replaced by the BFI catch can. It has been on the car for over 6,000 miles with no issues, and all of the fittings are tight.)
- Boost tap hoses/clamps
I reset the codes and drove it to work and all was well, but I'm staying out of boost until I find out what the problem is. The car has stock plugs, stock coils and stock DV and only 7,800 miles.

My 98 F150 4WD with 83k on it has a significant pull to the right most noticeable on the highway. I have to keep the wheel turned to the left to be able to go straight. It use to be intermittent but now is constant. Had a frt end alignment done twice with no change. Recently after a long drive on the highway on a crazy hot day, I pulled into a rest area & noticed the L/F wheel was very hot to the point where I thought the plastic center cap might start melting.
The R/F wheel was only warm. This makes no sense to me because with something causing the L/F wheel to heat up I would think it would pull to the left. This has bothered me so much that I've driven with 10psi less in the L/F wheel hoping it wouldn't pull to the right so much but it had no effect. I did recently have the left upper control arm replaced because it was clunking. It was doing this pulling prior to that & it continues.
Came on while i was driving on the highway, i pulled into a rest stop turned my car off gave it a minute. drove it again and it came on after like 10 seconds.pulled off the next exit, turned it on gave it a minute again and i haven't gotten it on since. this was two days ago.

View 7 RepliesSo I was driving for 6 hours yesterday and about 3 hours in my boost completely cut out on the highway. I didn't get any CEL or EPC light or anything. I took a look under the hood and everything looks okay. I also thought maybe the turbo blew but it isn't smoking or anything. What it could be?? Or some way I can diagnose the problem?? I have a 6 hour drive back home and would like some boost! It is a 2000 Passat 1.8T ....

But today as I was driving on the highway (stop and go) then road began to clear up, I felt a tremble (Shimmy) coming from the front of the car. I pulled over and checked to see if wheel lugs were safely secured and they were also check to see if there was any play on the top of the front shocks and they were ok I don't feel it in the steering wheel, I only feel it coming from the front. This has only happened once in the past but only when the car was parked with the ebrake on, but it was a very subtle tremble, I was wondering if it may be a motor mount that is either worn out or loose and or it will need a alignment given that it wasn't done after the suspension got put on.......
View 9 RepliesI've been noticing that my 2012 Passat TDI with 125,000 miles, hasn't been shifting to 6th gear when driving down the highway. I've actually noticed it's one gear too low even when driving down city streets. We have been experiencing extreme cold weather in Pennsylvania, so perhaps that's a factor.
If I manually shift to 6th gear, it stays in gear, but it appears that the engine RPMs are a bit lower than usual as well, but I could be wrong there.
Just had new front tires installed today and drove home. Car felt fine driving at 60 kph. Drove tonight on the highway and felt a bit of shaking. Its not as severe but can be felt sightly. Didn't feel this (slight) shaking with my old worn tires at highway speeds. What could it be? Btw, bought the car used last year at my local dealer and I haven't done an alignment yet since then.

While driving and turning the corner my radio occasionally changes radio stations and sometimes goes to MAX volume! You cannot turn it down or off!
Drives door whistles at 70kph took it to dealer 6 times no solution!

This is on an 2012 SEL, 34K on it. Since the last couple of months, I have noticed that there some wub-wub-wub sound coming the wheels, well, at least from the road surface while drivng on highway speeds.
The sound is just like something is touching the tires, but can't be sure. I may have sensed some very minute shaking as well which may seem correlating with the wub-wub frequency. But as you can see, I am not quite sure how describe it. It is not a distinct sound, not something very obvious. But it is there. I asked my SO too, and both of use can notice the sound independently, so it is perfectly reproducible. The sound appears to be coming from the front, but it is hard to pin point. I also tried opening the window at 65 mph, but the wind and road noise just drowns out all other sounds.
I have thought of getting its wheels balanced as the first step. Went to Costco but apparently they balance only the wheel with tires sold by them on them. I am thinking of taking it to the dealership but want to be prepared by some basic info myself. Hence this question. Hopefully, they wont come and tell me that the wheel drive shaft or some such needs to be changed.
i have a 2WD 2004 Ford Ranger regular cab. I have replaced the rotors three times in the last year due to warpage. What is causing this? The truck does not pull to one side or the other while driving. applying the brakes don't cause it to pull to one side either. According to my mechanics, neither caliper is sticking. the right brake pad does show some signs of heat damage (cracking). There is no uneven tire wear. I have a buddy who thinks it may be a bent wheel hub, but my mechanic says no because no uneven tire wear. They are leaning to a faulty brake hose, but can't say for sure.

I transferred my old tie rod ends over to the new set up. They are pretty new.
It's a very similar feeling to when I had a bad control arm bushing. I just replaced a lot if the front end stuff though and this was not happening before the install.
Wanted to ask B6 owners first, from time to time I hear what I think is a backfire after doing a hard pull in 3rd but never in 2nd. Now I'm not sure its a backfire but after I shift to 4th I hear a small pop from the back of the wagon. Don't know if this will happen in 4th after a pull, have not had enough road or balls to do this. ( In Oregon you get a huge ticket and license pulled for 30 days for anything over 100.) Everything runs fine, I only have the Neuspeed intake for the autos and thats it. Any thoughts you B6 owners have B4 I go to the 2.0 fsi page would be great. View 3 RepliesMy car has a distinct pull to the left when driving on a flat straight road. If I let go of the steering wheel the wheel actually turns about 5 degrees left of centre and the car goes in that direction.
Had an alignment from lexus edinburgh last year and again from another garage yesterday,
Still pulls and I have to physically hold the steering wheel centre when driving.
Car is 2011 IS F UK
Attached is my alignment spec from yesterday, Is it the caster issue as this can't be adjusted? If it is what's required?
My daughter accidentally pulled the emergency latch and now I can't get my trunk to close. I tried pushing the handle back into place to no avail... searched the archives and didn't find anything there either. What I am doing wrong, aside from leaving my 10 year old in charge of closing the trunk??

Do not occurs when accelerating slowly, all day at dealer and they said that might be cam wear or some pressure pump. They are taking the engine covers to find out what is the issue. Cam repair and oil change. It drives smoother and no longer hard down shifting....
View 9 RepliesHow do I remove the trim that's around the pull handle and the lock/unlock button? Not the trim by your belly that has window buttons but the ones that are near your side mirrors. Mine are scuffed to poop and I would like to replace the trim and the lock/unlock buttons.
