How to replace the bulb in the passenger side vanity mirror, (the one that comes on when you open the mirror cover)? It seems difficult to get the lens off and I've had a look in the TOC, but I can't see anything.
View 7 RepliesI have a small single car garage, and all the vehicles that I have parked in here including an suv, I have never clipped my mirror. However, i recently did so with the Phaeton. Not sure what the proper name for the part is, but it is the clear plastic signal cover that has broken in half. the light still illuminates properly, but the cover is broken. What is the part that I need to order so that I can replace?
View 6 RepliesHow to set the passenger side view mirror memory adjustment? I am unclear on a couple of things:
1) With the transmission in any position other than reverse, adjust the passenger side mirror as you like it.
2) Put the car in reverse, and adjust the same mirror to show you what you want to look at when you have the transmission in reverse.
3) Now press the appropriate seat memory buttons, to store that configuration as your 'driver preference', and the car will remember both settings.
Does #3 mean that you turn off the car leaving it in reverse? Leave it running - in reverse? And then you press "Set" and then the seat number button - and then "Set" again?
Ever since I've owned my Phaeton there's been what looks like a crack in the passenger side wing mirror, when you get up close however you can see the glass is fine and it's something within the mirror itself. The 'crack' is dark blue with an orange outline which makes me think it's possibly auto-dimming fluid which has leaked out. I've had a look online and can't see anything to confirm whether the passenger mirror is auto dimming as per the other two.

I noticed the turn signal light on the passenger side and mirror staying on. Wether it's started or off. Locked or unlocked. Don't know what the issues could be. Front one not on though
At the dealer now. I have 600 miles on it so I'm assuming it will be warranty covered.
Well I took the GX into a rough part of town in and literally left the car parked for 30 minutes, and I come back to find the drivers side mirror missing. Good news is, the thieves unplugged it, dare I say professionally and I have no ripped or spliced wires, everything is in tact. I found a mint condition mirror on ebay and bought it for a fraction of the cost the stealership would charge, however as simple as it looks, it is a bit difficult to snap the mirror onto the white plastic piece. I do not want to apply too much pressure and crack the mirror from the front. Any hacks on an easier way to put it in?

Now I have used the search with a lot of success but for some reason I haven't been able to find out how to get to the bolts for the side mirrors. How do you get to the bolts to replace the side mirrors ?. I am also sure I could figure it out in time but I would rather not break anything trying to force parts off.
View 2 RepliesI got the "check lights" message a few days ago, however only driving the car during the day for those days I couldn't immediately track down the problem. Well, tonight we went out for Goodberry's (frozen custard chain in NC..amazing), and I noticed the passenger-side trunk tail light was out. The other three lights were fine. Now, since these are LED and the entire circle of lights is out, my first thought was a fuse. I checked the fuse (24 if I remember correctly) and it looked to be fine. Besides, I think both of the right-side lights are on that fuse. So, it's most likely not the 20 bulbs that are in there and doesn't seem to be the fuse.

View 9 RepliesOn my Phaeton, I've got some paint chipping right below one of the rear tail lights. It is strange since this is not an area that would get any type of abuse, and I don't think the tail lights have been removed before. I am wondering if this is something that I could touch up myself. If not, should I get a dealer to look at it?

As I want to use the electrical mirrors to adjust my driver side mirror, passenger side mirror moves too. Is it possible that these faults caused by not coded ECU?
I connected ground wire of my LED to blue and black cable connected to the mirror and ran another wire from unit 10 in 16 pin door connector to live wire from my LED.
I am just curious about my passat side mirrors ... the passenger mirror is smaller then the driver side?

View 12 RepliesI got in very minor accident the other day and the glass part of the passenger mirror popped out and broke on the ground. I just got my replacement glass from Amazon (I think the brand is Fit System or something). The rear tab is broke on the new part and the glass piece isn't anywhere near factory quality.
Where I can purchase an OEM replacement online? Just looking for the glass part. Also - is there a trick to snapping it back on? For some reason I cant get the top tabs to snap into place, even with the OEM broken mirror (when I tried to put it back on.

I just picked up my new 2010 Golf TDI and one thing I really miss is the passenger side mirror tilting down when I am in reverse. It is really handy for parallel parking. My Passat and BMW both have this feature and I would love to be able to do it here.
View 13 RepliesWalked out to my car last night and my mirror cap was shattered in pieces on the ground, little textured plastic lip around the glass on the ground, and the glass hanging from the heat wires. I haven't looked at it too hard since it was dark and I had to work this morning, but it appears that the plastic lip and the glass are undamaged, however there may be damage to the clips. I have called around to some salvage yards and no one seems to have one in stock. What the cheapest way to get a clean, painted mirror on my door is? Mirror was destroyed, need new one.
View 3 RepliesI just noticed this happening recently. My passenger side mirror looks like it is peeling. The part that "peeled off", no longer auto dims, while the 90% of the mirror still has dimming. But it looks ugly as heck.
