We ran the side mirror into a tall trash can. I replaced the mirror but need to replace the blinker assembly that is in the bottom of the mirror. I bought it and can't see how to take mirror apart to put it in.

View 9 RepliesSuddenly the blinker in my right exterior mirror has stopped blinking. I had this once before and just as I arrived at my Dealer and switching off the ignition, it suddenly started working again after starting the car again.
This time that didn't work. Everything else works. I hear the flasher 'clicking' and all blinkers, mirror folding and exit lights work.
Is there a fuse I should check (but everything else works) or is this again a glitch that will correct itself. By the way, there is no 'malfunction' indicated in the MFI.
I just tried folding the mirrors and in the folded position the right hand mirror blinked once and then not again. How can I check the bulb/LED in the mirror?
How to replace the bulb in the passenger side vanity mirror, (the one that comes on when you open the mirror cover)? It seems difficult to get the lens off and I've had a look in the TOC, but I can't see anything.
View 7 RepliesI recently had a dash light pop on indicating that I had a light out. After searching all over the car I realized that the blinker in the passenger side mirror housing is not working.
From what I've been able to gather by looking at my driver's side mirror there are 3 small LEDs (two facing the side and one facing forward). On the passenger mirror all three of the LEDs are not working.
I find it very hard to believe that all three LEDs have burned out, since they rarely burn out at all. Why the lighting on that mirror isn't working? I haven't noticed anything else that isn't functioning at all or properly so I'm stumped.
Well I took the GX into a rough part of town in and literally left the car parked for 30 minutes, and I come back to find the drivers side mirror missing. Good news is, the thieves unplugged it, dare I say professionally and I have no ripped or spliced wires, everything is in tact. I found a mint condition mirror on ebay and bought it for a fraction of the cost the stealership would charge, however as simple as it looks, it is a bit difficult to snap the mirror onto the white plastic piece. I do not want to apply too much pressure and crack the mirror from the front. Any hacks on an easier way to put it in?
View 7 RepliesMy blinker housing is cracked and I can't figure out how to remove and replace it. It looks like you might have to pull the mirror glass to get to the screws. Is this the case? If not, how do you do it, and if so, how do you pull the mirror glass off without it breaking?

Now I have used the search with a lot of success but for some reason I haven't been able to find out how to get to the bolts for the side mirrors. How do you get to the bolts to replace the side mirrors ?. I am also sure I could figure it out in time but I would rather not break anything trying to force parts off.

I have ordered German accessories in order to activate the amber blinker instead the red and the rear fog light incl. the light switch. But now I'm stuck at the coding in order to activate the functions. Any clue which CU and address I have to change in order to teach the brake light not to blink and the fog light to function?
View 3 RepliesI've had my new Touareg for less than a month, and only had one problem so far, my headlights. On 2 separate occasions after parking (daylight, only my DRL was on) and turning off my engine, the first time, the headlamps remained on and the other incident, one blinker light remained on and had "frozen".
I made sure that all the light switches were off (even turning them on and off), made sure the hi beams were off, keys were out of the ignition, even tried turning the engine on and off. Eventually lights turned off after restarting the car the 4 th time.
Now, I wonder with all these "battery drain" concerns? an unchecked headlight/or blinker (during daylight you can miss this, and no warning signals from that the lights are infact on).
Having problems with the side mirror vibrating at 75 MPH? My driver's side mirror vibrates at highway speeds. When I brought my SUV to the dealership they said that the mirror is as tight as it can be.

View 24 RepliesAfter discovering my wood cracking on the doors, for some reason I decided to look at the passenger side mirror, which used to, repeat, used to go down in reverse. It no longer does. Don't tell me this is first model year shakedown problems. All of the problems on this board signal a car that was put together very sloppily, with absolutely no quality control.

I picked up my car after 10K service at the local dealer. I get in the car, put tranny in reverse and started driving. Then I noticed that my right mirror is off. So I got out of dealer parking and stopped. Then I looked at the mirror and it was perfectly aligned!
I heard that this feature (mirrors will adjust when you drive in reverse) in Mercedes and some other cars, but nort VW. I was wrong. My Treg has the same feature. The only trick is that your mirror switch in the cabin should be turned to right, like when you try to adjust right passenger mirror. That's it.
Every time you will switch to reverse, you right passenger mirror will turn 30 or more degree down. I was very surprised and pleased that VW has that little feature.

I have a 2008 touareg 2 V8. When we first got the truck everything was fine.. In the last month or so the driver's side mirror seems to be humming or buzzing at 50-70mph (80-120km/h)... If I fold the mirrors it goes away... Cross wind will make it louder, also it is intermittent... Maybe it's resonance?
View 3 RepliesIs this a regional thing? I changed my region. Could that be the reason? It doesn't seem to adjust as far down as it used to. Left side works fine and it adjusts in other directions as it always did.
