I'm not so sure what is the problem because when the ac light flashing and I'm closing the ac switch and turn it back on the ac start to cool again but start flashing after few min.
View 14 RepliesMy A/C light starts flashing after about 30 minutes of use. The A/C is still cold while it's running, but it warms up when the light starts blinking.
At this point I'm planning on replacing the clutch assembly. How far apart do I need to take the car so I can reach the clutch? Is there something else I can test to see if the compressor is on its last legs, before I put money into the clutch?
It's getting hot, and the A/C in our 2002 is completely nonfunctional (and has been since we bought it a year ago). Unfortunately it also doesn't provide a diagnostic code.
When the A/C is turned on, the light begins flashing immediately, and the air is not cold. I've tried it while the engine is at high RPMs, and idling in the driveway with no change in results. When I put it in diagnostic mode there still aren't any codes (except the solar sensor if it is dark). If the ICE is off when I turn on the A/C, the ICE fires up briefly then shuts down.
The mechanic we bought it from suspected the compressor. I hoped it was really the clutch (seems common), and that I could just put in shims to adjust the spacing. The only code I have gotten from it was for the cabin air intake servo motor shortly after we bought it. I found a mouse nest in the cabin air filter, which I figured was causing the problem. After replacing the filter the code went away but the A/C still wouldn't work.
I'm wondering.. Is there anything else I can do to trigger a DTC? Are there any specific problems that wouldn't have a DTC? Would a compressor/clutch problem certainly trigger a DTC? Can I test it when there is no functionality? (It seems more common to have intermittent trouble with that). If some of the mouse nest was sucked into the A/C system, could it cause this?
I have had a 2002 Prius since December of 2012, and it has been running fine since I got it; while it was in a wreck in May 2013 that has rendered both passenger-side doors and windows unusable, I have not seen that incident cause any other problems, and the car still runs perfectly fine. I am supposed to be driving from my current home state for a job soon, but about a week ago while I was driving on the interstate, the check engine light started flashing.
I was changing lanes and putting a good bit of pressure on the gas in order to pass someone that was going below the speed limit, putting my speed at around 80 mph when the check engine light started flashing. I started getting off of the interstate to find a place to stop and inspect things, but the light stopped flashing when I got down to around 45 mph on the exit ramp, and I was able to drive the rest of the way on the interstate without any trouble, even when I got in the 75 mph range again. The span of time between the light starting to flash and turning off again was probably about a minute or so.
The green A/C light on my 2002 Camry (4 cyl) will start to flash after the the A/C is turned on. After reading about the relay fix I tried swapping relays and had the same symptoms. The compressor will engage and for the few seconds that its engaged it will just barely start to blow cooler air until it starts to flash. I then noticed that with the relay completely removed I would also get the flashing light after a few seconds when the A/C was turned on but the air would not start to turn cold.

I checked for any codes and there's nothing. My oil is a bit low, but not at the marker. My next due for an oil change says 195,300ish. I've never seen it flash before.
2002 Grand Prix, 3.8L na motor, 187K miles. It was running perfectly until 4 days ago. initially, odd gauge stuff and flashing air bag light, then very, very slight engine skip with the tach gauge flipping around. 2 days ago, harder than usual starts ( a couple of seconds cranking instead of instant starts ), 1 day go, longer cranking in the morning, worse stuttering at highway speed. Afternoon, very hard start, stuttering right away, and then it would hardly start and quit after seconds. Gauges flipping and relays buzzing under the dash.
I had it towed home. Moving the key to run I didn't hear the fuel pump running. Checked the pressure at the rail, zero pressure. I removed the relay and jumped it to run the pump at high pressure. Fuel pump ran, pressure was 50-60lbs. Reinserted the relay, tried to start it and no change. I couldn't hear the pump running. Removed the relay and jumped the pump again, left it running and tried starting the car. Also no start.
I'm thinking it may have something to do with the ignition switch, PK3 system, BCM or PCM although I'm not sure which way to go with testing. I'm going to re-check the fuel pump and then start taking ignition switch out.
It's a 2002 explorer, 4.0, 5R55W trans, all was fine then O/D light starts flashing, so I limp it home. Trans isn't slipping, every gear works, it does kinda bang into 4th but is otherwise normal. Took it to auto zone to have the code read, but no codes found. Disconnected battery to see if it just needed a reset maybe, let it sit for a few hours, reconnect, OD light still flashes. Borrow a different OBD2 tester, still shows no codes, still drives the same just bangs into 4th. I've read up on the solenoid pack replacement, just kind hesitant as I feel like I'm guessing at the problem and might be throwing money away.
View 2 RepliesThe brake lights on my '02 F150 have started flashing spontaneously ie - with no one in truck. This lasts for a few minutes, then stops, but can start again a few minutes later. The fear of course is that someday lights could come on and stay on, resulting in dead battery.
I do have a trailer brake controller that has been on truck ten years. Read something on internet that brake pedal switch might be going bad (??). Any one else observed this strange behavior?
How to reset the Anti Theft on my explorer? The light is flashing fast and the engine won't start. Without the anti theft being reset the truck won't start. Been checking around to find an answer but can't find one...

The other day out of nowhere the warning light came on 2 second later the GPS screen flicker and the car turned off on me. I waiting about 5 minutes and the car started up. Was told could be the main 12v battery but want more input on this. The warning light turn off on its own the next day.
I have a 2001 prius. It has around 105k miles on it. i bought it when it had 86k. I've had 0 issues with the car other than replacing the 12v battery in the trunk and its always run like a champ. Today though, i went to start the car and it started up as normal. I left the keys in the car for a second to get out and talk to my wife.
When i happened to look in through the window though i saw that the cars fuel gauge was all of a sudden flashing. The entire bar. (when i started it originally it had 5 bars of fuel) I got back in the car to investigate and noticed that the engine had turned off. All the power was still on with no triangle of death/turtle or anything else. only the flashing fuel gauge was on. I tried restarting it multiple times to no avail. The power will come on fine, and the dash will appear as normal. The motor just will not start.
I thought it might be fuel so i went and added a gallon just in case, but still no luck. Problem usually have lights that come on or the triangle of death.
I have a 2001 Prius with 204K miles. On cold mornings when I start the car first time, within a minute it shuts down with red triangle flashing. After resetting it, car works fine all day without any problem.

I go out to start the car, it cranks and cranks and cranks. I stop turning the key. I then try again and it hesitates to starts. I give it a little gas and it starts. When it does this, the car begins running very rough and idling rough. When I give it a little gas while it's parked, the check engine light begins flashing at me.
I turned the car off and came back to it the next morning (maybe 10 hours apart). It started right up no problem, no CEL either.
My daughter has a 2001 Prius with about 165,000 miles on it. She was driving it and the red high temp light came on and stayed on. She also said that a few minutes later she lost power. She stopped and turned it off. Waited a few minutes, and started it again. The light went off and she drove it home about 5 miles. The light came on when she got home. No engine codes. I changed the thermostat. I filled it back up with fresh antifreeze and water and took out to test drive. No leaks. 2 miles down the road the light came back on. I stopped and checked it. upper radiator hose, hot and lower hose cold. Radiator not warm. Blowing out hot air with the heater. I think the water pump belt is on, as i am at work right now but will check as soon as I get home. I took the old thermostat and put it in a pan of boiling water and it opened, so apparently it was the thermostat.
View 4 RepliesI bought a used Toyota Prius last winter and when the weather became hot I tried to use my AC and it worked well for a while before the Ac light FLASHING and then the AC doesn't work but the fan still working and the air became hot more than the outside temperature !! And that only happen when the weather temperature is 30c or over !! So I took it an AC tech and he told me he couldn't do anything to it because it's a hybrid car and it uses 600W Ac, so I took it to the Toyota dealer and they looked at it and they didn't know what is the exact problem so they told me I need to change the clutch relay and if it didn't work then I need to change the Magnetic Clutch.

View 5 RepliesI drive a 1996 F-150, 188,000+ miles. Sometimes when you turn the key in the ignition, nothing happens. Absolutely nothing. But if you wait about 2 minutes, the truck starts O.K. This has occurred a couple of times when I was starting out and killed the motor by not giving it enough gas. But it's also occurred when the truck has been sitting for a number of hours or even overnight. It never fails to start after about a 2 minute wait. What's going on here? I've had the truck in the garage, but they couldn't replicate the problem and didn't do anything.

Reading this handy forum I found that by jumping two pins on the OBD port I could read the codes generated by the flashing lights. I did that, and have a 3233 and 4448. The car runs and drives fine, fluids are all good etc. Can the codes be cleared and see if they return?
